ALBANY, N.Y. -- The bride wore a white dress, black leggings, a veil and carried a bouquet of pink and purple flowers. The groom wore a tuxedo T-shirt with a boutonnière, and had to get on one knee to take pictures with his bride, who is all of 4 years old. In less than 24-hours, the Melodies Center at Albany Medical Center in New York pulled off a "wedding" ceremony for their childhood cancer patient, Abby, who had been telling her mother all week she wanted to get married to her favorite nurse, Matt Hickling. Abby has Pre-B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, according to her Facebook page. On the "Amazing Abby" Facebook page, Abby's mother wrote that she had told Matt of Abby's wish, and she received a text back soon after from the nurse saying, "We're planning a wedding tomo..." And that's exactly what happened. Matt wrote on his personal Facebook page, that with the help of staff they were able to pull the ceremony off. He got "married" to his patient in front of most of the Melodies Center staff, his patients mother and others lucky enough to be around observing. Abby was walked in over rose petals, and given away by her mother. "Our patient shyly asked me to marry her," he wrote. "I didn't hesitate to say yes, I got a HUGE hug and we sealed the deal with ring pops being placed on our fingers!" Abby's mother wrote that her daughter said to her that, "This is the best day ever!" "We are both in awe from today's visit and smiling ear to ear," she said. The ceremony included wedding cake, donated flowers from a local florist, Enchanted Gardens, and even a special toy car reading "Just Married" that Matt pushed Abby in before returning for photos and cake. "This day will hopefully be one our patient and her family can always look back on and smile when days are tough!" Matt wrote on Facebook. "I know I will!" Abby's mother thanked everyone on her Facebook page, especially, Nurse Matt. "Blessed to have all these people in our lives," she wrote. Now that there's a Gay bible, i think this has come to stay for real. What a shame! ![]() |
Nairaland is a very large city indeed! |
A gay man has filed a $70 million lawsuit against two Bible publishers, claiming their translations of the Bible calling homosexuality a sin caused him “emotional distress.” The man, Bradley LaShawn Fowler, claims the publishers, Zondervan and Thomas Nelson, have manipulated scripture with the use of the term “homosexuals” in certain revised editions of the Bible. “Fowler alleges that the term homosexual was deleted in later versions by Zondervan but in their 1982 and 1987 translations the publisher uses the term in First Corinthians 6:9 incorrectly,” Liberty Voice reported. “The older King James Version, from which his family pastor preaches, has caused him to be cast away by his family for its use of the word homosexual.” “As a result of suffering 20 years of mental instability and emotional duress, Fowler is suing $60 million from Zondervan and $10 million from Thomas Nelson Publishing.” Zondervan’s spokesperson, Tara Powers, dismissed his claims. “Since Zondervan does not translate the Bible or own the copyright for any of the translations we publish, we are not in a position to comment on the merits of how a word should or should not be translated,” she said. “We rely on the scholarly judgment of the highly respected and credible translation committees behind each translation and never alter the text of the translations we are licensed to publish.” “We only publish credible translations produced by credible biblical scholars.” Other gay activists simply wrote their own gay-friendly “Bible” called the “Queen James Version.” “The Queen James Bible resolves any homophobic interpretations of the Bible,” a website promoting the book states. “We wanted to make a book filled with the word of God that nobody could use to incorrectly condemn God’s LGBT children, and we succeeded.” Source: http://www.infowars.com/gay-man-sues-bible-publishers-over-homosexuality-is-a-sin-verses/ |

africanusvu:Well said bro! Exactly my question. How did the police come to conclusion that these men were the people who robbed. Its very unfair, and I do not believe this story. |
Do you believe this are the real culprits?? This is a farce!! The real offenders are gone. I pity these unfortunate fellows |

Some Lagosians are just crazy and there's little or nothing you can do to avoid some ugly situations. About 8 years ago I got an employment with a financial institution in Marina. I bought a HP smart phone back then, and this phone took about half of my salary. I hunged the phone below my belt and set out to go home at the close of business one fateful day. It was about 6pm in the evening. When I got to CMS, a guy walked up to me. I initially tot he wanted to say something meaningful. He grabbed my left leg and said" abi make dem carry you go your village" I was angry and I asked he why he did that nonsense and all that. He apologized immidiately and crossed to the other side of the road. I paused for a while to figure out what happened. Lo and behold my phone was gone and my pouch was still firmly locked. That was d first time I payed my dues! How else could I have been careful in Lagos? |
Come to think of it you MUST pay your dues as a JJC in Lagos, in one way or the other. #noexcapingthis |
