ATTENTION: AS WE PROCEED TO MARCH FOR PEACE As we prepare to March for Peace in Oyo town today, we have all agreed to put aside our political or personal interests to advocate for a common agenda; We want to say no to violence in elections, all we want is peace. We are therefore imploring all participants to be calm and follow the proceedings of the rally as laid down by the organizers. All participants are implored to make sure they register in an attendance register that will be provided at the mobilization point, Durbar Stadium. The time of the rally is 8:30am sharp and we implore all political personalities or members NOT to come with any material (Vests, caps, bands, vehicles etc) that identifies them with a political platform. Instead, we can all wear a white top but this isn't a compulsory attire. Finally, we pray that God will guide and guard us as we embark on this sojourn, let's be the PEACE AMBASSADORS we have vowed to be! Thanks and God bless you as you decide to be a part of the history-makers today! ALL WE WANT IS PEACE! Signed: Ogbeni Siyanbola 'Kunmi For the Organizing Committee |

As we prepare for the campaign that comes up on Saturday, we have printed copies of handbills to be distributed to the people, as you can see from the images attached, we made the Yoruba and the English version. Also, our banners are ready! Last minutes arrangements ate what we are doing now. We are still trying our best to get the attention of the media, though.

husaybi:Yes... It was a mistake. I tried modifying and its kinda difficult. We shall correct this in our subsequent updates. We do not have ulterior motives, that's it. |
Good morning Nigerians, As part of our collaborative efforts towards ensuring peaceful and non-violent elections in Nigeria, we concerned individuals have come together to organize a peaceful rally. This rally is aimed at preaching to the electorates the need to shun violence during and after the election periods. Also, the rally shall feature education of voters on the electioneering processes. Due to the limited resources at present and the short time before the elections, we are planning to hold the rally in Oyo town, our locality. Our belief is that other individuals in other parts of the country can follow suit and organize theirs wherever they are. Let me state that this rally is not being sponsored by any political person(s) or party. So far, so good, we have been relying on our personal resources. The rally is non-political and we have ulterior motives. We are simply determined to contribute our little quota. We simply believe that regardless of who you want to vote for, it must not affect or jeopardize the peace of the Nation. We intend to march around the town distributing handbills and with our public address systems to talk to our people. We intend to visit the many 'bases', 'joints' and even, 'garages' in the town. We feel many of the people who cause menace are from these places. Simply because the campaign is not political, I must tell you that its been difficult getting enough publicity for it. We feel these are laudable programmes the society should encourage but reverse is the case. We have decided to get the press involved but unfortunately, its been quite difficult as they tell us point blank that we must drop a brown envelopes. Hence, we feel Nairaland is the best place where we can get our voices heard. We want people to be aware. As a matter of fact, we have informed some renowned activists and they are coming down from various places across the nation. We are mobilizing Students' bodies, Academic and non-academic associations, NURTW, RTEAN, Arisans etc. We are imploring all and sundry to join this crusade against Violence. Lets all advocate for peaceful elections. We shall be updating you from time to time on our plans as we progress. Thanks all!
