Nairaland GeneralSoccer Player's Wife Criticized For Posting Picture Of Flat Stomach Days After by cbbigfan(op): 10:05am On Dec 02, 2013
Norwegian footballer's wife Caroline Berg Eriksen has been criticised for posting photographs on Instagram, flaunting a flat stomach just four days after giving birth to a baby girl.

Berg Eriksen, a health and fitness blogger who claims to have to the biggest blog in Norway, posted a selfie on the social networking site in which her enviable washboard abs were on display days after giving birth to Nelia, her daughter with Norwegian premier league footballer Lars-Kristian Eriksen.

She had posted days earlier on Instagram: "I gave birth to the most beautiful baby girl yesterday... Her name is Nelia and she is perfect."

But her latest Instagram post - taken in her underwear in front of a mirror - drew criticism from users of the social network, with one branding the image "a joke". Rebecca Foote posted "This is her 4 days after birth in shock haha." Writing in Norway's Dagbladet newspaper one blogger called the images "wildly provocative", and criticised the image for heaping pressure on new mothers to shed weight soon after giving birth.

Mrs Berg Eriksen replied to her critics on Facebook, saying: "I let out the picture because I'm proud of myself and my body for something as tough as a pregnancy / birth, and I think all mothers, regardless of the body should be

Nairaland GeneralChurch Of England To Bless Gay Couples by cbbigfan(op): 11:39am On Dec 01, 2013
The Archbishops of Canterbury and York yesterday published the Report of the House of Bishops Working Group on Human Sexuality.

And according to it, gay couples should be allowed to have their relationships blessed in church.
DailyMail reports that the report, written by former civil servant Sir Joseph Pilling and a team of senior churchmen and women, was published seven months after the Church first indicated it is looking at ‘accommodations’ for same-sex couples and four months after the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, told Church leaders that ‘we must accept there is a revolution in the area of sexuality.’

It signals an end to the Church’s longstanding insistence that gay relationships are sinful and less worthy than heterosexual marriage.
And may now open the way for a reversal of the CofE’s opposition to same-sex marriage and the eventual appointment of actively homosexual priests and bishops.

Archbishop Welby said yesterday that bishops will now ‘consider the report and decide how such a process might best be shaped.’

Christianity Etc90% Of People Who Come Here Come To Confirm If The Church Is Truly Devilish- Pro by cbbigfan(op): 8:46am On Dec 01, 2013
Prophet TB Joshua is a man of God who a lot of people have criticized in the past and are still criticizing. In this new interview with Punch, the prophet explained why people think his church is devilish, how they have been managing the negative criticism and why his church is more popular outside Nigeria than in Nigeria. Continue below.

Why is it that your ministry seems to be more popular outside Nigeria than in Nigeria?

As it is written in the Bible, a prophet has no honour in his country. I am not an evangelist or a pastor, I am a prophet. If my people had understood the work from the beginning, it could have affected the glory of God in my life today.

Praises and adoration can make you a local champion.

I may not be accepted by some people in Nigeria but my acceptance in the world has been announcing me to my world. When you look at the people working with me, you see that the ratio of Nigerians working with me are not more than 10 per cent.

Sometimes when I see some ministries printing handbills, using signboards to advertise their church, I say those things are not necessary. God is the one inviting people, if you allow him to do it, the solution to their problems will be waiting for them.

At synagogue, our critics are our advertisement. They are people that don’t want to hear about us. They tell other people that ‘that church is devilish;’ unknowingly, some of the people they tell get inquisitive and they will want to come here and see what a devil looks like since they haven’t seen one before.
God has been using this as advertisement for us. Ninety per cent of people who come here do so in the bid to come and verify what they had heard about this church.

When some of them get here, they will sit at the back, fearing that they could be hurt. Some put on dark glasses or disguise in a way that will not allow people that know them to recognise them.
But before the service is over, some of them will pick up their bags and move to the front seats. They eventually become my prayer warriors.

Let me tell you something that amazes me and that I always thank God for – those who are with me are more than those that are against me. They keep supporting me all over the world. I have more, more, more people around the world. Whenever I say this, tears flow from my eyes (sobs for a while).
These are tears of joy. I get so sad when I hear people’s confession when their eyes become open to what God is doing here. Some say, ‘I wish I had known this, my mum would not have died. She asked me to bring her here but because of what I was hearing about this place, I refused until she died. I hope that she will forgive me.”’

But many people see you as mystical, they think you are not a believer in Jesus Christ; that you belong to some other sect. What is the source of your power?

Your question is funny. We don’t get power, it is faith we have. The power in our life is released by faith through our mouth. The issue of getting power is wrong. We don’t talk about getting power here. If you don’t have faith, power will remain dormant.

In Mark, Jesus said this kind won’t be possible but by prayer and fasting. The disciples had power but lacked faith to release it.

Music/RadioUS Rapper Wale Explains Why He's Never Been To Nigeria Until Now by cbbigfan(op): 9:11pm On Nov 29, 2013
In a radio chat with Toolz on Beatfm yesterday, Wale said the reason he's never been to Nigeria until now was because his parents, who are both from Ondo state, were so poor they couldn't afford a bring him home.

"I grew up poor. We lived in DC, in the projects. Getting a ticket to Nigeria on $20, 000 income yearly, to my family that wasn't really... you know...like I was a 15 year old with a decent job, I'm not going to save up to go to Nigeria. That wasn't what I was thinking when I was that age. And then I was in college and the money tight right then. And then I get this record deal when I dropped out of school, you're running around so much you don't even have time to see your own parents"

EntertainmentI Am Not John Okafor's Aka Mr Ibu Wife Nor An Ex -beauty Queen - Hauwa Wakili! by cbbigfan(op): 8:04am On Nov 29, 2013
Hauwa Wakili, the supposed wife of Nollywood actor, John Okafor aka Mr. Ibu, as responded to the article recently published by City People Magazine stating how she and Mr. Ibu met and got married.

In a statement sent to me by Hauwa Wakili, she clearly states her case and bitterness with the publication.

See her Statement below

"My name is Hauwa Wakili; I work for Ben TV Uk as a producer/presenter. I am Not Mr. Ibu's wife. The picture was taken the first time Mr. Ibu came to London, he was invited to the studio with some other Nollywood actors to do an interview with me and the picture was taken afterwards. It’s so appalling and in very bad taste and shows total lack of professionalism that some news mediums would publish that picture without confirming whom Mr. Ibu's wife really is. The first time the picture was used was when they kidnapped his wife and kids. So many magazines, newspaper and online blogs used this same picture across Nigeria and beyond. He apologised after contacting him, now city people are saying how Mr. Ibu met his ex-beauty queen wife... Bad journalism! I would have simply ignored like I did before but I recently read some comments on an online magazine and there were people who obviously don't know me raining allsorts of derogative words at me and that's. Just wrong. So please without saying too much, I just want to also use this medium to say I AM NOT MR IBU'S WIFE I met him while at work, since he has refused to do the right thing then I will."

FashionAfter Dissing Peter Okoye’s Traditional Wedding Outfit, Peter Okoye Calls Emmy C by cbbigfan(op): 7:55am On Nov 29, 2013
Lmao, I am not taking sides here, but Peter couldn't have said it better. Han han, it’s his wedding. Emmy went on his blog to diss Peter after his wedding ceremony, and Peter who just got to know about the diss, went online this evening and asked his fans if they knew someone called Emmy Collins. And after someone told him he was a failed blogger and fashion designer, Peter said Emmy must be frustrated, lol.

What Emmy wrote;

If you guys don`t offer accolades to me for restraining myself from critiquing Lola and

Peter Okoye during their wedding, I will claim it in Jesus name, Amen.

Yes, there were enough talking points from that wedding yet I refused to touch them even to the extent that a few comments insinuated that I was playing what someone described as “Pasha”.

Well, I must say that Peter and the dudes on this image were totally off the mark when they decided to deck themselves in this hideous polyester kaftans.

As if the fabrics weren’t disastrous enough, the quality of stitching employed in putting it together compares with the worst I have witnessed so far considering the fact that it is Peter`s wedding for crying out loud and of course he is not short of a bob or two.

Before you move on to the next image, please work your eyes to the hemming of the kaftans especially that of the guys that are flanking Peter on the left and right.

Nairaland GeneralNigerian Man Killed By A Lorry After Storming Out Of Car During Row With His Wif by cbbigfan(op): 10:28pm On Nov 28, 2013
A Nigerian man was killed on a motorway after getting out of a car on the way to the airport after a fight with his wife over their credit card.

Daily Mail reports

Nahinmu Nicholas had stormed out of the Ford Focus with his suitcases, saying he was going to hitch-hike to Heathrow, but was knocked down by a lorry in the morning darkness.

His wife had pulled over on what they both thought was the hard shoulder of the M25, not realising that it was a live lane because of roadworks. A coroner was told that lorry driver Martin Hook was unable to avoid Mr Nicholas as he suddenly caught sight of him.

His 13-tonne bread lorry also struck the couple’s car in the accident just six minutes after they had stopped on the clockwise carriageway of the M25 at junction 6 for Godstone, Surrey, at around 4.30am on April 10.
Florence Olokun-Ola told the inquest in Woking, Surrey, that her husband was going to Nigeria alone for 12 days and that the fight started because she wanted their bank card while he was away. ‘The argument became very aggressive and his voice changed,’ she added.

Mrs Olokun-Ola, who had earlier told how financial problems had caused tension in their relationship, said she no longer felt comfortable driving and pulled over to what she thought was the hard shoulder.
She added: ‘He took off his seat belt. As soon as the car stopped he took the keys and opened the boot and took out his luggage. He put it by the crash barrier.’
In an attempt to get her husband back in the car Mrs Olokun-Ola drove forward a bit, but he started to walk back down the carriageway trying to thumb a lift.

Then she felt the force of the collision as the lorry struck the rear of her car.
‘I got out the car and at first I was angry because he didn’t come running over to see if I was okay,’ she said. She then discovered her husband’s body and ran back to the car to dial 999.
Mr Hook said he was travelling through the roadworks at 50mph. ‘The next thing I knew was there was a dark shadow in front of me,’ he added. ‘I turned straight away to the centre of the carriageway.’
A post-mortem examination concluded that Mr Nicholas died as a result of severe head injuries.

Accident reconstruction officer PC Dominic Gibson said that the stretch of the M25 where the accident happened was unlit. He said there were signs warning that the hard shoulder was now a live lane.

Assistant Surrey Coroner Michael Burgess recorded a verdict that Mr Nicholas, of Dartford, Kent, died as a result of a road traffic collision.

Nairaland GeneralThe Wahala Between President Jonathan, Dame Patience And I by cbbigfan(op): 1:27am On Nov 27, 2013
Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State explains his fractious relationship with President Goodluck Jonathan to TheNEWS editors

In the last few months you have been under heavy artillery fire from Abuja and the party structure was also taken off you. Where does this leave you politically?

Nowhere. It was the judgment of a court. Whether right or wrong, only the Court of Appeal can say. With the little knowledge of the law that I have, you cannot take a matter affecting Rivers State to an Abuja high court. When we got to the High Court, we said it should decline jurisdiction because it doesn’t have it. But we were surprised when it assumed jurisdiction and the judge gave a similar judgment to one he had given for which the Supreme Court did warn him. If you read the judgement of Tafida versus Turaki, the Supreme Court admonished him. That judgement is similar to our own. The Supreme Court said he (the judge) cannot re-write the law and that no court has jurisdiction, both location and legal, on matters of that nature. What he should have done was send it back to Port Harcourt, where the case should have been heard. But the judge must have his reasons for doing that and only the Court of Appeal can say otherwise. In terms of political future, the PDP is not the only party in the country. There’s Accord Party, there’s African Renaissance Party, there’s the PRP and the UPN as well. You can always join any party of your choice. So, there’s nothing to worry about.

Does it mean that the meetings between the President and the G-7 governors have not yielded any fruit?

I don’t know. We have not settled. The way the PDP has been handling the matter with the office of the President or the President himself makes it look like we don’t have a choice; that you either take PDP or forget it. That means even when they chase us from the PDP, we cannot go anywhere else except to resign from politics. But there are so many choices available now; they can’t afford to be behaving that way. If they are behaving this way, you can imagine what will happen during the general elections.

Some people are expecting that during your helicopter ride with the President on Thursday, you must have had a one-on-one talk…

No, no, no.

So what did you discuss?

Nothing. It was a 10 or 15-minute flight from the airport to Okrika and I am the governor of the state. What usually happens is that by protocol, I would accompany him wherever he is going within the state. I accompanied him to Okrika and my colleague, the governor of Bayelsa State, was also in the helicopter as well as his son and his personal security team.

Your participation in the burial activities of the foster mother of Mrs. Patience Jonathan has suggested to some people that there is a bit let-up in the friction between the two of you. Is that the case?

I won’t go there. You know the President like I do. I’m not the aggressor here. I’m the victim. If you look at the crisis, you would know that the state is suffering, I am suffering. The wife of the President changed the Commissioner of Police by calling the Inspector-General and he was changed. She brought somebody that would do her bidding and that of her supporters and, I guess, the President’s supporters, too.

How did all these problems start?

I would attribute it to three things. The first was the attempt by the wife of the President to control the Rivers State government. I remember when female senators came to me after she met with them. She said to them: ‘I’m the highest ranking officer from Rivers State and I wonder why the governor of Rivers State does not accord me that respect.’ I said in law, I don’t see the office of the wife of the President being superior to that of the governor. So, there is that crisis where she wants to control the office of the governor and the government of Rivers State. The resistance is what you are seeing. That crisis took us to the point where she visited Rivers State and in order not to continue the crisis and be a good boy, I accompanied her on the tour of her community in order to show her what we had done in the community–the ring road, primary schools and the health centres we had built. At one of the primary schools, I said: ‘You can see that there are inhabitants around the primary school. What we are going to do is buy the houses around the school, demolish them and create a playing field like we have in Port Harcourt and other areas, so that we don’t have paedophiles assaulting the kids.’ I had hardly finished when she just took the microphone from me and started screaming that in her place, you don’t talk about demolition; you can’t buy any land, the land is of utmost importance to them and all that. So when she finished, I quietly walked to the bus, sat there, knowing at that point, my responsibility was over because I actually wasn’t supposed to accompany her on such a tour.

I had hardly finished when she just took the microphone from me and started screaming that in her place, you don’t talk about demolition; you can’t buy any land, the land is of utmost importance to them and all that. So when she finished, I quietly walked to the bus, sat there, knowing at that point, my responsibility was over because I actually wasn’t supposed to accompany her on such a tour.

Second is the fact that even on that tour, I didn’t know that she had privately organised a reception for herself without even telling me as the sitting governor. When we got to the venue, I quietly walked to a primary school and sat down there. When my wife came and wanted to sit down, I said: ‘No, you go. You are my wife and your job is to receive the wife of the President.’ I sat back. That’s where she was claiming that I beat up my wife. I wonder where I did that. I have never in life slapped a woman and will never slap a woman because I respect womanhood and women. I sent my wife back to go and sit with her because it was not my responsibility. And I was at the primary school when they completed the reception and then we went back to Port Harcourt. Then, she left for Abuja.

Then we got into this crisis of 2011, when the President wanted to run and I said I needed to see a lot of things. I needed to be assured that we wouldn’t have a multiplicity of presidents where we would have too many voices giving directives to so many people. So you have a situation where you have Oduah (Stella) as a president, seizing the aircraft of my state illegally. And when I called the President, he said: ‘I don’t even know. Nobody told me. OK. I would get back to you; let me find out what happened.” Till today, the President is yet to get back to me on the aircraft. You have the wife manipulating power, the Chief of Staff manipulating power, everybody doing one thing or the other. I wanted to make sure that I and the Rivers people are protected. I wasn’t convinced. But after some time, I had meetings with the President and we agreed to work together. Rivers State delivered 2.1 million votes.

Now, within that period, the President had called me and the wife and we sat together and made peace. There again, they promised that nobody would hurt me; nobody will do this and that. That is why this is a bit difficult, because there is nothing new they can tell me that they did not tell me in 2011 and they did not keep to that promise. I was in a meeting, it was just me, the President and his wife and all sorts of promises were made. They promised to protect me. We had hardly won the 2011 elections when the wife descended on me and the Rivers State government. Basically, the only way you can survive is if you then wake up in the morning to say, ‘Good morning, ma. My name is Rotimi Amaechi, governor of Rivers State. Do I greet this person or that person’ If she says no, then I don’t greet you. But if you need to run the office of the governor the way it is supposed to be run, then you would certainly have a disagreement with the wife of the President. It is about power and control. She appears to be somebody who loves power.

How about your role at the Governors’ Forum?

I also told him that I thought I was the youngest governor in Nigeria and therefore can’t be manipulating the 35 other governors, who are members of the forum. There’s nothing he said I said that was not part of what the governors asked me to say. In fact, that’s how the six other governors in PDP and the 11 governors in the APC voted along with me, because their argument is simple: ‘Is there anything the President is accusing Governor Amaechi of that we did not ask him to say?’ I read communiqués and I say what the governors want me to say at meetings and in public. And then, the President now holds it against me and then gets other governors to work for him.

Basically, when the President tried to manage the Governors’ Forum and it was not possible, I think they advised him to either annihilate or dismember the forum. So they went for it. The day we were to hold the Governors’ Forum election, you know we tried it three times. When they saw they were going to lose, they tried to disrupt it. The last time, they couldn’t because we didn’t give them the chance to call the President or his wife. Akpabio was in the habit of stepping out to call the wife of the President or call on the President and they would say: ‘Don’t allow the voting to take place. Disrupt the voting.’ This time, there was no chance for anybody to call because we disabled telephone conversations in that area. When I say we, we made sure, as a people, that if you were coming with your phone, you would not be allowed to use it in the compound.

So the President was aware?

They were in contact. In fact, we had hardly finished the election when they called the President and told him I had been defeated.

How about the ceding of oil wells?

Yes, it is part of the problem. They took about 41 oil wells from us to Abia and took the whole of Soku to Bayelsa and as governor of Rivers State, I have the responsibility to protect the Rivers wells and the Rivers people. So the whole Soku oil wells in the Kalabari area and the 41 oil wells were given to our neighbours and we didn’t have a choice but to respond.

”I was in a meeting, it was just me, the President and his wife and all sorts of promises were made. She appears to be somebody who loves power.”

So it is not about me. The G-7 governors are not fighting for their own interests. It is about Nigeria. We are asking about the issues of corruption, we are asking about the issues of mismanagement of Nigerian resources. Why should Nigeria be as poor as we are? In 1970 when I was barely six years old, poverty index in Nigeria was 30 per cent. The other day I said in a meeting that the poverty index was 70 per cent and the Minister of Finance said no, it is 68 per cent. I asked what is the difference between 68 per cent and 70. I tell people every time that I act like a prophet in the country. You know when they introduced the amnesty programme for militants, I opposed it and said: ‘Deal with criminals, punish criminals and don’t give them amnesty.’ They insisted that they would give them amnesty and I said if they were given, other communities would demand for it. What you call amnesty is another way of distributing wealth among some criminals. And today, a part of the proposed resolution of the Boko Haram problem is amnesty. So when they finish, the MASSOB will demand amnesty and OPC will also demand amnesty.

The same way, months ago, I said the country is broke even though we are careful not to use the word ‘broke’. The Governors’ Forum said the country was broke and that if the Minister of Finance cannot manage the economy she should resign. Oh! She said: ‘I dey kampe; the economy is working.’ But a few days ago they came out to say the country is cash-strapped. I asked an economist what it means and he said it means the the country can’t fund its expenditure. So, if you can’t fund your expenditure, what does it mean? We are broke. It is difficult to pay salaries now. I have never paid salaries on the 30th before. This is the first month I am paying salaries on the 30th.

My colleague, the governor of Benue State, told me that teachers are on strike in his state because of salary. And you would see more in the next few months. The country is broke. The amount of money being stolen is enough to run the economy. They set aside 455,000 barrels per day for local refining. We don’t refine in Nigeria. Crude is refined overseas, brought back to Nigeria and then we pay subsidy on it.

BusinessCBN To Roll Out N5000 Note In March 2014 by cbbigfan(op): 8:56am On Nov 26, 2013
By BLAISE UDUNZEThe Central Bank of Nigeria bank disclosed at the weekend that it would soon conclude plans to produce and roll out N5000 bills, a project which was initially abandoned due to its rejection by Nigerians.

Deputy Governor of CBN, Tunde Lemo, who disclosed this while speaking to journalists at the NIBSS 20th anniversary conference held in Lagos, said in one to two months from now, the N5000 notes would be in circulation.
According to him:” We only stopped the project due to the low level of understanding of its benefits among Nigerians, but we now plan to educate the people about the importance of the notes to our economy before we eventually launch it”.

He added that Nigerians would soon see the notes in circulation and start to enjoy its benefits.
Speaking on the cashless initiative, Lemo noted that it has been a great success within the experimented states, stressing that the apex bank has deployed 120,000 Point of Sale (PoS) Machines across the states where cashless policy is being experimented in Nigeria.

He frowned at reports that 70 percent of the PoS deployed within the country are ineffective, explaining that a lot of things could have caused the ineffectiveness”.
Similarly Director, Banking and Payment Systems, CBN, Mr. Dipo Fatokun, who was also a speaker at the conference, noted that the apex bank’s cashless initiative has aided the development of Nigeria.
He stressed that banks and customers now enjoy the easy flow of transactions within the banks.

He, however, noted that the Nigeria payments system, in the last two decades, has witnessed significant technological advancement, due to the operations of Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement (NIBSS) Plc.

The changes were propelled by transformations in the general financial system occasioned principally by improvements in global economic indicators, technology as well as improvement in human capital capacity and knowledge.

Meanwhile funds transfer though the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS)’s Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) system hit an all time high of N11.63 trillion in 24.34million transactions between January and October this year.

Transactions over NIBSS Instant Payment (NIP) which channels include bank branches, internet banking and mobile banking within the same period was valued at N8.16trillon in 12.53million volume of transactions. A report released by NIBSS disclosed that the NEFT transactions allow for a maximum of 24 hours for the beneficiary to get value while NIP transactions are done instantly.

CrimeHow This 24yrs Old Guy Duped Husband & Wife Of $42,497 by cbbigfan(op): 2:01am On Nov 25, 2013
Operatives of the Special Fraud Unit, SFU, in Ikoyi, Lagos, have arrested a 24-year-old Nigerian man who was said to have posed as a lady to defraud a United States of America couple of $42,497, purportedly for the purchase of a property in Lagos.

In his confession, the crook said:“I posed as Janet on the Facebook, using a white woman’s photograph. I told the couple that I was an estate manager and convinced them to buy property in Lagos. Since they have not been to Nigeria, they asked us to meet elsewhere and when I stumbled on a business conference that was holding in Malasia, I booked the meeting.

“On reaching Malaysia, I told a Facebook lady friend to pose as Janet after telling her what to say. That was how the deal was struck and they paid the dollar equivalent of N3.4 million into my account. ”I intended to use the money to further my studies because I am determined to be a graduate. I used part of the money to travel again to Malaysia for leisure in August.”

The suspect, identified as Olafinraye Adedamola, confessed to the offence while being paraded on Thursday. According to a Vanguard report, explaining how the aluminum worker was arrested, spokesperson for the unit, Ngozi Isintume-Agu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said: “An intelligence report dated September 24, 2013 from Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), Abuja addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Special Fraud Unit (SFU) alleged that one Olafinraye Adedamola opened a USD Domiciliary Account No. 273/6980678251/0 with the Demurin, Ketu, Lagos Branch of Sterling Bank Plc and through suspicious circumstances, cumulative sum of USD 42,497 was paid into the account by unsuspecting victims abroad between August 13, 2013 and September 16, 2013.

“The suspected illicit inflows were followed by immediate cash withdrawals by the suspect who appeared to have no known affiliation with the international depositors.“SFU operatives swung into action and investigation carried out on the domiciliary account revealed that $18,129.92 is still left in the account and a lien was immediately placed on the account.“The suspect was traced to his house at 7, Agidi Road, Oshogun, Alapere, Ketu, Lagos but he evaded police arrest and his father, a proprietor of a moribund driving school, feigned ignorance of his son’s whereabouts. However, the fleeing suspect was later apprehended by the Police.“Olafinraye Adedamola who posed as a lady named Janet was born in 1989 in Kosofe LGA Ketu, Lagos.“An artisan who trained in construction of aluminum but currently a driving instructor in his father’s moribund driving school located in Ketu, Lagos claimed he met a Nigerian at a conference in Malaysia who introduced him to the victim who requested that he purchased property for him in Nigeria which was the basis for the disbursement of the money into his account and that he had already bought a building at Ogba, Ikeja for N4 million and that the documents were with him.”

Olafinraye Adedamola said, “My regret is that I was caught at the end because I used my genuine data to open the account. I guess it was because it is my first time.”

The suspect will be charged to court soon.

Nairaland GeneralUche Ogbodo Opens Up On Her Secret Wedding To Ex-footballer by cbbigfan(op): 3:01am On Nov 24, 2013
Click for Full Image Size

Many were shocked recently when they heard that actress Uche Ogbodo was already married to an American based ex-footballer, Apo Arthur, especially because no one saw it coming, at least not her fans. But anyway, she did it and here is what she told Encomium about the experience.

Congratulations, we heard you are married?

Yes, that is true. Thank you.

How does it feel to be married?

It is God’s blessing. It is a thing of joy, everybody prays for it.

Why did you opt for a secret wedding?

We have done everything we need to do, the main ceremony will take place soon. Most likely before this year runs out, the white wedding will take place. So, I cannot say I had a secret wedding per se.

How and when did you meet your husband?

I met him in Nigeria, at a colleague’s birthday. Immediately I saw him, I knew he was my husband. It is more than a year ago now.

How did he approach and propose to you?

He stood and was staring at me. He told me something said he should just talk to me and he did. We introduced ourselves, I told him I was an actress, that was it.

Tell us more about him.

His name is Apo. He is from Anambra State. He is an ex-footballer based in the United States of America.

A lot of men stop their wives from acting after marriage, what will happen to your acting career?

He knows I am an actress. I told him immediately I met him and he likes what I do. He supports me career wise. He understands what is happening in our industry, he is in full support.

Why the choice of a U.K-based man?

Men that have travelled far and wide know what is happening in the industry, he is exposed. He has mingled with people from other cultural backgrounds and with different people. A lot of Nigerian men don’t really understand what is happening in the industry, most especially if they are not into entertainment. He too is into show business as well. So, he understands the terrain. I think it is quite easy that way.

He has mingled with a lot of show business stars, he knows as an actress, I have to mingle with friends so I can get movie roles. I have to kiss in movies and I can be away for some days. So, it is a good thing to have someone who understands you.

Nairaland GeneralGEJ Gives Nollywood N150m Grants; Where Is The Grant Given Earlier This Year? by cbbigfan(op): 5:57pm On Nov 22, 2013
When we heard that the Federal Government of Nigeria led by Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has awarded another N150m to Nollywood, we asked ourselves, is this the first time the industry is receiving such? But the answer is No, we can remember vividly well on the 3rd of March, this year, president Goodluck Jonathan organized a dinner at Marina in Lagos to celebrate Nollywood at 20th, On that occasion, he announced a N3billion grants geared towards supporting the nation's foremost movie industry, Nollywood.

But ever since the announcement, a sharp division has risen among the members of the umbrella body of actors and actresses, Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), with key players having different stance on how the money should be disbursed.

What happens to the fund? It's obvious it has been squandered. While practitioners suffer from lack of funds and humiliation in the quest to produce films, some people are busy working to ensure that the money lands in their bank account.

Now, Nollywood stars operating in the country's film industry under the recently launched Capacity Training Fund of the Presidential Intervention scheme called "Project ACT Nollywood."With an objective to help the industry make further progress on a more solid foundation,"

On Wednesday Nigerian government said it awarded various grants adding that this was in line with President Jonathan's vision for the industry.

The training portion of the Capacity Building Fund valued at about N150 million is dedicated to training and skill acquisition for Nigerian movie practitioners in all competences along the value chain of Nigeria's movie industry.

Paul Nwabuikwu, the Special Adviser to the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the economy has acclaimed that the beneficiaries of the grant emerged after the applications submitted by the practitioners were processed and found to have met the qualification for the training and skills acquisition programme

The training programme covers script writing, directing, film production and production design, special effects, lighting, sound effect, HD techniques, acting, cinematography, make-up, editing, etc.

The grants, which are currently being processed, would enable the practitioners receive high quality training in accredited institutions to improve their competences in various areas of film craft.

She said another N150 million has been set aside as grants to existing Nigerian-owned private institutes that offer training courses, programmes and technical certification in the movie industry.

The Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, expressed satisfaction with the development and appealed to individuals or more applications from qualified practitioners. We wish this works out fine.

Nairaland GeneralWoman Slept With Her Husband Corpes For A Year by cbbigfan(op): 3:32am On Nov 22, 2013
A grieving woman was so devastated by her husband’s death that she couldn’t bear to report it – and slept next
to his corpse for almost a year.

The mummified remains of Marcel H, 79, lay undiscovered in a Brussels apartment.

It’s thought that he died of an asthma attack in November last year, but his beloved 69-year-old wife, who hasn’t been named, continued to sleep next to the grisly remains, despite the smell of decomposition.

Neighbours didn’t detect any unusual odours and the authorities in Belgium only became suspicious after the landlord claimed the couple had not paid their rent since 2012.

When they entered the apartment they
found the mummified remains of Marcel H.
Philippe Boxho, pathologist at the Forensic Center of Liege said: ‘A body can mummify in a dry, warm environment.

‘It takes at least a week to reach such a
state. In this case the body had rotten in the bed and his internal organs had melted and liquefied.

‘This liquid would have spread and the bed would have been swarming with insects as the body rotted, this would have been a real shame.

‘Even though the smell of human decay is quite specific, many people equate that smell to the smell of garbage and once the body has become rotten the smell does decrease significantly.

‘This is not the first time I have made a
discovery of this kind, I’ve been faced with two or three other occasions where people have continued to sleep with the corpse of their partner.’

When they entered the apartment they
found the mummified remains of Marcel H.

A renowned Tanzanian singer, Diamond, is reportedly in a relationship with a radio presenter, Penny, whom he is related to by blood. The two continue their relationship despite the claims that Diamond would get back with his ex Wema Sepetu. Diamond’s grandmother and Penny’s grandmother happen to share the same mother. According to the Tanzanians, these people are related and bound by blood, like a brother and a sister.
When contacted, Diamond, who is currently in Nigeria recording a song with Davido, admitted the claims that he is related to his current girlfriend Penny. The confirmed this to Amani, an influential Tanzania blogger.

Penny, on the other side says the relationship has gotten even stronger.
“Yes we are related and that has strengthened my love towards Diamond, I’m so much in love such that nothing is separating us. In fact we are more tight now, what has happened has happened nothing can be done about it rather than accepting and moving on, he is the best lover in the world,” shrugged Penny, Diamond’s girlfriend.

The shocking revelation was exposed to the public by a family member, who said they were disgusted at the fact that the two are continuing to have a relationship and, worse, intercourse, despite the fact they are related. After asking the passengers to alight from the buses, some LASTMA officials took over the wheels and as they were about driving off to the station, one of the bus drivers, an elderly man, went into his bus and brought out a concoction with a fetid odour, faced the officials and police men and the on-looking crowd. The officials and police men who didn’t know what his mission was all ran for cover. But one of the LASTMA officials came back and insisted he must be arrested.
When the old man sensed that might not work for too long, he decided to strip himself Unclad. CrimeRobber Beaten & Burnt Alive After Caught Trying To Rob At Gunpoint by cbbigfan(op): 6:42am On Nov 18, 2013
A man believed to be in his late thirties was lynched at Ashaiman New Town yesterday after he attempted to rob an MTN sales point at gunpoint.
He was in the company of two others during the robbery operation but he was not lucky, as he was grabbed by an angry mob and subsequently beaten and set on fire.
The robber, who gave his name as Romeo, claimed to be a resident of Kasoa Barrier in the
Central Region.
A Nigerian gang member who resides at Ashaiman Tulaku barrier, according to the deceased, gave information about the sales point.
ON FIRE! The suspected robber, Romeo
A security man, sales personnel and a customer were held hostage by the robbers at the sales point, which had recently experienced two separate robberies, with the robbers taking away thousands of Ghana Cedis.
The robbers demanded money and other valuables, while one waited in a blue-black Toyota Corolla saloon car in front of the sales point, after they had entered the place at about 8:30am under the pretext of transacting business.
Linda Asamoah, a sales attendant, was in the inner chamber of the sales point which had been divided into two with glass. This prevented the robbers from entering where the money was being kept.
Linda made a quick phone call to a friend nearby who promptly raised the alarm which attracted the crowd.
The driver of the get-away car, sensing danger, drove off, leaving his colleagues in the office block, upon hearing the alarm. However, one of the robbers managed to jump on top of the bonnet of the vehicle and fled with the driver.

While escaping, the driver fired shots, with a bullet hitting a glass door of another shop, Maranatha Photo and Barbering Salon, near the scene.
Luck however eluded Romeo, who was not able to catch up quickly with the vehicle, as he was pursued by the mob after he took to his heels from the sales point until he was apprehended.
Petrol Blaze
He was subjected to severe beatings with clubs, metals, golf bats and cement blocks among other implements before finally being set ablaze and left to burn in the middle of the street. Romeo, however, managed to roll over his body until the fire went out while bleeding profusely, mostly from his head.
The incident attracted hundreds of persons who thronged the scene to either unleash their anger on the suspect or catch a glimpse of the deceased after he was killed.
Linda Asamoah, the sales girl, narrated to DAILY GUIDE: “I was at the office when one robber came that he wanted to receive mobile money transfer and I told him the network was down so he should go and return later.”
According to her, another armed robber came to join his colleague, pulled out a pistol and quickly demanded money and other items.
On his part, Romeo jumped over the counter after they had locked themselves in one of the glass apartments.
She further narrated: “It was when he was trying to open the glass door to where we kept the money that I called a friend who shouted ‘thief, thief’ before the area boys came around.”
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Tetteh Yarkah confirmed the incident to us, and added that the police arrived to find the lifeless body of the suspected robber in a pool of blood.
According to him, the corpse had been conveyed to the Police Hospital morgue in Accra for possible identification, further investigations and autopsy.
He noted that upon preliminary investigations, the police retrieved a pistol and live ammunition in a bag which was abandoned on the street by the deceased while he was running away from the fuming mob.
Ashaiman Newtown and its environs are under frequent siege by armed robbers, putting the area youth under constant alert.
