Phones / Re: Lagos-Calabar Highway: Telcos Fear Shutdown As Construction Threatens Cables by ceejayluv(m): 8:05pm On May 06
PressMyButton:
The underwater cables are safe, the road is not going under the atlantic. Any telecom mast standing along the right of way would have to be relocated just as Multichoice's infrastructure was relocated. These are teething challenges which cause for no alarm. Lagos-Calabar, Sokoto-Badagry, Enugu-Ogoja-Cameroon road projects have come to stay, not even Bitter Obi and his headless mob can stop them.
They're referring to masts And optic fibre cables. Not everyone clamouring for proper things to be done is bitter.

Le2money:
What is bad in this.....if your annual Salary is 20k and your monthly take home is 1,493, multiply this by 12 months ( 1,493 X 12 = 17,916 ) so 20,000 - 17,916 = 2,084.....is £2,084 too much to pay for tax annually? Maybe the poster shud go to a country where they do not have to pay Tax at all grin grin

Nigerians no like to hear tax. But in reality, 20k per annum is in the minimum wage band... How's Life really like for minimum wage earners there?

Politics / Re: Nigerian Workers Release Breakdown Of Proposed ₦‎615,000 Minimum Wage by ceejayluv(m): 11:17am On May 04
olaideeeedris:
I am sure these guys are not really serious with this thing they are doing. Increments in salary will only invite inflation. For me, I think what the workers should fight for is the naira purchasing power. If my salary is 20k, I should be able to purchase good things with it. For example, with 20k salary:
Bag of rice.... #950
House rent (annually)... #230
Sch fees (private sch)... #110 (very expensive)
Car (moderate).... #6500 cheesy grin
Buy a house... #4250 etc
Oya wake me up!!
The issue is that the 650k is not feasible. Govt is already borrowing to pay make up for the budget deficit as it stands now. Can fuel station attendants, shop sales people and drivers be paid 650k in the private sector.... How much do most private establishments make sef?

seguntijan:
Dear secondary school teachers and school owners, please, help the students and the public by ensuring that students in your school write examinations by themselves and merit the grades they brandish on their SSCE results.

We are tired of seeing students with A1 in Mathematics but cannot resolve the smallest of fractions. A student with distinctions in Physics and chemistry but knows next to nothing about chemical reactions or energy conversion. Students with distinctions in Literature, Government, and CRS, yet blank on the differences between Drama and Prose Fiction, the forms of Government, and the significance of Religious stories.

I had to ask some year 1 students to look for a tutorial teacher to help them with JS 3 and SS1 mathematics recently. The whole 16 of them in my Engineering class with excellent SSCE results are visibly confused at the sight of any arithmetic work. Their last semester's performance betrayed the several A1s and B3s on the WAEC they carry about.

These students you help acquire grades they can't defend are usually frustrated in the ivory tower. Save them a voyage of pain and regrets in the future by ensuring they are well tutored and allowed to prepare and write their examinations unaided.

Lol. When one's young, one tends to be grandiloquent. One would try to fit everything one knows in a simple write up.

But as one grows older, one realizes that nobody actually cares
In youth we learn, in adulthood we understand.
No knowledge is wasted. Let the young Man flex his lexical muscles.

Electricity has greatly improved. The major current problem now is pricing. The subsidy keeps mounting and FG knows it's not sustainable to keep the subsidies. If people price electricity well and pay for it they will demand for the best service but if FG keeps subsidising it there will be too much wastages and inefficiency like predominates before now.
Greatly improved at your feeder I guess.

Never. I came to canada as a single person aged 30 with a professional job offer in hand and support from friends but I still struggled. I slept on my friend's sofa for 3 weeks before moving to an Air bnB (after earning my first paycheck). Stayed in a basement for one month. Then moved to another air bnb (room in a chinese couple home) where I stayed for 3 months. I could not compete for apartment rental for 4 months. All rental applications were rejected due to skin color, lack of canadian rental history, credit history and low credit score. The only landlord that accepted my application in the 4th month demanded for 5 months rent upfront. I can't imagine going through this with dependents. It was not easy.
Reality bites...

Don't mind the clownish dude.

Asides the monthly rent, several bills with heavy taxes wait for him there on a daily / monthly bases.

At the end, and truthfully, he is not really better than a Nigerian here earning quite decent amount of money as wages or salary.

Quite decent as in how much?

I didn’t want to comment.they tell u what they earn, they don’t tell u what they spend .my rent in Toronto is 2.3m naira monthly for a room and palor.that money can pay for a 3 bedroom yearly rent in lekki.that money in 12 months can buy someone a 3 bedroom modest bungalow.my prayer is for everyone to go to this abroad and see things for themselves.
I guess you're earning at least 5 million monthly... if you're married, your household income maybe be more or less 8 million... Mention that too and your quality of life.

While an average Nigerian would've rather embezzled the money meant for power generation, buy solar for his home and use the rest to go and flex in America or Europe where power is stable.

The level of corruption in our country is no longer a pathetic issue but ignorance and pure evil.
Also a genetic and psychological issue.

This is exactly what happened in the whole of South East. The Presidential election was a complete sham.

Obi won in Lagos. Atiku won in Osun.

THE WORST ELECTORAL MALPRACTICE IN THE HISTORY OF NIGERIA HAPPENED IN THE WHOLE OF THE SOUTH EAST DURING THE LAST PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. Your description is sharp and very, very clear.

In the South East, during the election, anybody that doesn't vote Peter Obi is considered to be and OUTCAST, O'S'U and maltreated. That fear, made some to remain at home and not come out to vote their preferred candidate or party.

During the gubernatorial election which Obi wasn't on the Ballot, it all turned out to be a different story.

Imagine you finding the Chinese discrimination of Nigerians repulsive when it is so impended in the cultural practice of the South Easterner to discriminate within his own very tribe .grin

The spraying of notes is a Nigerian tradition. It's one of the ways the rich show off their wealth in public gatherings, most especially parties. You can't take it away from Nigerians because they love to show off publicly. Even public office holders are guilty of the crime. This break will not last long. Make Una dey watch
Oya na they should set ₦10 million aside for bail anytime they Go partying. That'd be a good revenue opportunity.
