FC Barcelona forward, Ousmane Dembélé has successfully been operated today to repair a ruptured biceps femoris in his left leg.

72-year-old Finnish sports medicine surgeon, Sakari Orava performed the surgery in Helsinki, Finland.

Barcelona confirmed on their website that Dembélé remains under the supervision of Dr. Ricard Pruna, and he is expected to be out for three and a half months.

Dembele suffered a hamstring injury during Saturday’s 2-1 win over Getafe.

Ernesto Valverde is confident to replace injured 20-year-old.

The manager has selected Gerard Deulofeu, Aleix Vidal, Denis Suarez, and Andre Gomes as replacements for the missing French forward.

The Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has reacted to the viral video of the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, bragging over the death of late Umaru Yar’Adua.

Recall, El-Rufai had claimed that while Yar’Adua fought him and ended up in the grave, the immediate past President, Goodluck Jonathan was voted out of power for doing same.

The Governor gave the warning while warning political opponents not to fight him but instead for them to set their differences aside and work together for the good of all.

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi on Friday, said he would arrange a meeting with the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to address agitations by the group.

The traditional ruler also said he would meet with some significant traditional rulers in the Southeast to seek an end ti the crisis plaguing the region.

Speaking on Friday at a public lecture and conferment of the Distinguished Service Award on the Chairman of the Oyo State Chapter, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Wunmi Faniran, and others, Oba Akanbi condemned the spate of violence in the Southeast as a result of IPOB agitation, saying that it was vital for stakeholders to put the lives of the people and the nation first.



The Oluwo described as untimely the secession threat by IPOB, saying it came at a time the country was blessed with a “competent President (Muhammadu Buhari)” who was ready to fight corruption.

He said;

“As a father of all Nigerians, I’m visiting the Southeast soon to mediate for the sustenance of ‘one Nigeria’ because when elders are in the market, a child’s head shouldn’t drop.

I will personally meet the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, and some notable traditional rulers and I’m optimistic it (the meeting) will yield peace.

It is unfortunate the (IPOB) threat came at a time we have a serious government ready to fight the genocidal disease (corruption) killing this nation. It must be addressed.”



He continued;

“The best the agitators should be doing is praying for this government and (making) not secession threat.
The country has been in mess owing to maladministration. Such has promoted the proliferation of militant syndicates in Nigeria.

If the government is responsible, the spate of insurgencies will be decimated.”

A Nigerian chef, identified as Taylor, has taken to social media to call out Shoprite, Jabi, Abuja, for selling expired cheese..

Earlier, we reported that President Muhammadu Buhari joined Governor Nasir El-Rufai to commission Nigeria’s largest integrated animal feed mills, breeding farms and hatchery in Kaduna state.

According to reports, the OLAM farms has a storage facility of 50,000 metric tonnes estimated to sell 72,000,000 eggs and 52,600,000 day old chicks.

The $150million project will employ 8,000 Nigerians through direct and indirect labor and 200 veterinary doctors.

Banned Kannywood actress, Rahama Sadau, who was invited to Akon’s hollywood movie set after she got banned for sharing a hug with Jos-based pop singer, Classiq in an Hausa music video, has opened up about her experience in Kannywood, rejecting roles and her transition into Nollywood.

According to her, her ban from acting in Kannywood was a stepping stone for her success because a lot of people didn’t know her until the ban happened.

How was growing up in Kaduna?

It was a normal life, it has been very great and fantastic. I remember being a dancer in primary school and secondary school.
On sharing similar experience with Priyanka Chopra, who transitions from Bollywood to Hollywood

“They don’t like her doing it but still they are proud of her. We have similar problems and are facing similar situations because at some point, they have to accept you and appreciate what you’re doing.
You’re quite young, 23? When you started acting really early how did your parents and your community first take it? Were they supportive?

No, especially my mum, because they thought the industry is not a good place for a young girl like me. But she has still been supportive. No matter how they try to keep us away from our dreams she still tries to support us because she is afraid of us falling into the wrong hands but at some point she was like no and I pushed for it.
Tell us about your Kannywood experience

I started acting in the year 2013. So far it has been great and it was my starting point. I am really grateful for it, I am thankful for what it has made me become today. I have lived in Kaduna all my life. Whenever I travel to any other state it’s for work.
You were banned from Kannywood, how did it affect your career at the time?

Well, it’s a stepping stone, I am grateful because it has opened a lot of doors because a lot of people didn’t know me until the ban happened. It’s not something good but I think it was just meant to be.
Do you feel that you did something wrong or deserved to be banned?

No, I can’t just touch someone and then they say I did something wrong. I think your religion and faith is between you and God. I grew up as a northern lady, I know my limitations and I know what I can do as a northerner and a Muslim. What I did should be at the liberty of the artist who shouldn’t be banned.
Did you ever find yourself turning down a script because of certain things you couldn’t do?

Yes I have my limitations like I said, there are certain things I wouldn’t do because of where I come from and the religion I stand for. If I show that I am ignorant of things, I have family and I know what the people in the north are capable of, that’s why I am being careful.
How has your transition to Nollwood been so far?

Before the ban I had featured in many Nollywood films like The Light Will Come, and Sons of the Caliphate. There hasn’t been much difference working in Nollywood. Perhaps the people are different, and the environment, similar stories and cultures.
How difficult has it been for you to keep with your personal values?

It has been a bit difficult but I always try to stick to who I am and focus on the things that I need and work towards everything.
What are some core values you won’t compromise?

Growing up in the North has been a bit difficult when you are trying to be another person in another zone and another territory. I don’t feel comfortable when I dress in short clothes but I am cool with other things like opening my hair up.
How’s your schedule, do you get to do stuff that young women your age do like go on dates?

Yes, I am very busy but if I have time to sleep, then I’ll definitely create time for a date. I am a very boring person, I always stick to my laptop, watching movies but whenever my friends call me out on a date, we just go somewhere, it could be anywhere, have fun and come back.

The former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has condemned the alleged raid on Nnamdi Kanu’s home by the officers of the Nigerian army on Sunday, September 10.

Fani-Kayode via his official Facebook page said the 'unprecedented violence'', must come to an end.

He wrote;

I condemn the raid on Nnamdi Kanu's home by the army. I call for restraint and I deplore the unprecedented violence that is being employed.

This is wicked, barbaric and unacceptable.

To the Lion of the East, my friend and brother Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, I have the following to say. They attacked your home and raided your community with their soldiers.

Those that seek to oppress and subjugate the righteous, that seek to enslave their fellow human beings in perpetuity, that seek to destroy, torment and humiliate others, that seek to deny the sons and daughters of our land the right to fully exercise their God-given liberty and freedom and that rule by the force of tyranny, injustice and the shedding of blood never end well and shall not prevail.

In truth there is no greater crime than to unleash a nation's Armed Forces against its own people in an attempt to stamp out free speech, silence opposing voices and eliminate dissent.

It happened to the Shiite Muslims of Zaria where one thousand innocent souls were butchered in one afternoon at the behest of military commanders simply for being different and now it is happening to the good people of the east.

Yet the light of truth and the struggle for liberation, justice and equity can never be diminished or defeated.

In the end the will of the people and the counsel and purpose of God shall stand.
No matter the price and no matter how long it takes, in the end we shall prevail. The Lord be with you.

Controversial Ghanaian singer Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, popularly known as Mzbel, says getting married is not readily in her plans.

The 37-year-old said although many hold the view that she is old enough to be married by now, it is not a priority for her.

Speaking Monday in an interview on Behind the Fame on Drive Time on Joy FM with Lexis Bill, Mzbel said she is currently in a healthy relationship which is equal to marriage.

She said;

“Marriage is not a priority but if it happens, why not,” she noted and added that she is in a healthy relationship which she is enjoying.

Although she won’t disclose the identity of the man in her life currently, the singer had said in a couple of interviews that older men are her taste.

She said;

“I am an old man’s girlfriend. Everybody in Ghana knows that I don’t date young guys.

If you are a young guy and I date you, I might break your heart. I like old men. They are very gentle.

“They don’t also like sex. They can’t even have sex for long. You know, I don’t like sex like that. I like sex once in a while,”

Mzbel is currently promoting her new single, ‘African Boy’.

Nigerian celebrity photographer, TY Bello, has taken to social media to pay tribute to late tax guru, Olanike Disu who died 24 hours after celebrating her birthday.

The mother of two, who penned down a lengthy post on her Instagram page, she shared pictures of Olanike and recounted some beautiful and amazing moments with her.

She wrote;

I remember meeting her many weeks ago ..she walked up to me and asked if I was TY Bello.. the photographer ..”I’ve been looking for you ” she said.. She pulled me in .. looked straight into my eyes and said ‘ I really really want you to take my portraits .. I’m terminally ill .

I’d like your images of me to be what people remember me by ..’ I want the photos to be happy and very beautiful I froze.. and tried to pretend like what she just said didn’t knock all the air out of Me..but she never stopped smiling .. ‘ when do we take these photos Ty?..she had said something so heavy .. so profound and I didn’t know how to respond.

We exchanged numbers and she sent me a message soon after ..but I still didn’t know how to take it in..until one morning ..I was praying and reading Isaiah 61:The spirit of the lord is upon me .. anointed me ..to bring beauty for ashes .. the oil of joy for mourning .. then I heard .. “call Mrs Disu. ”

I did .. and I gifted her a portrait session for a few days later ..

She came in a little quiet at first but I saw her spirit lift as the hair and makeup started to come together .. “TY!! I look beeeeautiful.. ” that was how a most amazing day began with this beautiful woman with very deep dimples ..we had a blast!! .. singing .. dancing .. playing dress up with her daughter .. Belly laughs ..we had an incredible session . At some point in the middle of the shoot .. as we changed outfits ..she looked excitedly at me and said .. TY ..

you know what? IM GOING TO BEAT THIS THING! .. I looked at her and responded .. ‘that’s the spirit .. you absolutely will!!’She gave me a High five and we continued one of my most exciting shoots till date . She ended the day by saying a heartfelt prayer for me . I remember telling someone her shoot was Gods gift to me ..

she brought it all to me .. beauty in the purest form and the oil of Joy in Isaiah 61..I was so inspired and lifted .. it also helped me put what I do into proper perspective .. that its really not about me and my gift .. that the people I get to meet ,bond with and photograph are Gods gift to me.

Mrs Disu sent me prayers .. bible verses and inspiring write-ups every day after taking her photographs .. she also sent a beautiful thank you note when she got her photos .. and found time to send gifts to the beauty squad she met at the shoot .

It was her birthday last sunday .. her daughter told me she was so happy .. she also did something really strange .. she kept sending her portraits to every one she knew .. “she was up till the wee hours of the next morning sending out the photos ..

and laughing .. we kept teasing her about it but she wouldn’t stop” . She died later on that day .. I guess it was her way of saying goodbye .

I remember @freezeedah sending me news of her passing .. I was a mess .. I was shocked ..and disappointed ..she was meant to beat this .. she had changed the narrative ..she told me herself .. !

I didn’t understand it .. until I got to spend a few hours with her children two days ago . They described what her last days were like .. she way joyful.. peaceful .. she found her own way to say goodbye .. she was ready .

As I sat in her Wake keeping today and listened to person after person come out and testify about her beautiful spirit and how she lived everyday to the fullest ..

I also remember certain things she said to me during the shoot .. how she wanted her children to know she gave it EVERYTHING and did her very best .

It occurred to me .. she was right .. she did ‘beat this thing ‘ .. !she didn’t let it stop her from living .. till she took her last breath ..she lived and loved and laughed and smiled till the very end !! She was ready ..She was prepared ..

unfortunately most people don’t get that opportunity .. to prepare for eternity .. and say goodbye .

It got me thinking .. if we all lived 100 years more .. it still would go by really fast .. the Bible says our lives are live vapor..

eternity is certain and every day is one day closer to when we meet our maker .. but are we ready .. that’s the question .

Nigerian born British professional boxer and World heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua took to his social media account to share a photo of him in the gym ahead of his title fight against Bulgaria’s Kubrat Pulev.

Wife of Gilbert Nnaji, the senator representing Enugu East Senatorial District and the Chairman, Senate Committee on Communications, Mrs. Ann Nnaji, has been reported dead..

According to a statement by Egbon Mon-Charles, the Senator’s Media Adviser, Mrs. Nnaji died in a foreign hospital after a long battle with an undisclosed ailment.

The statement said;

“It is with heavy heart that I announce the unfortunate passing away of Lady Ann Nnaji, wife of Senator Gilbert Nnaji, Chairman, Senate Committee on Communications.

“According to her husband, she was a virtuous woman, praying wife, pillar of support, dedicated mother and a caring sister who will be missed as long as I live.‎ May her gentle soul rest in peace,” 

The Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, has expressed sadness over the demise of the wife of the Enugu-born politician.

In reaction, Ekweremadu described the late Mrs. Nnaji as a gentlewoman, who led a pious life of service to God and humanity.

The Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, on Saturday, reacted to the shooting of the Parish Priest of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Onilekere, Ikeja, Lagos, Daniel Nwankwom condemning the incident..

The gunmen reportedly posed as parishioners to attend the morning mass on Friday before carrying out the shooting.

Now, Speaking with SUNDAY PUNCH, the Director of Social Communications, Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, Monsignor Gabriel Osu, revealed that the church had resorted to prayers for protection since the incident was reported.

He said;

“The government must wake up to its responsibility and give us protection. The police should be on its toes in averting crime and ensuring justice.

“The government should provide employment because an idle mind is the devil’s workshop. Most of the criminals don’t work so they resort to robbery and other crimes. The government should step up its security system too.

The surest way is to provide jobs. If people are busy, they won’t take to crime.

“We have been advised to step up our security too as a church. But we cannot begin a routine search of people to gain entrance into churches.

If people will be searched, it’s no longer a church. God protects. But the task of securing our environment is a collective responsibility. We hope the government would do something tangible.”

The Catholic priest said it was unfortunate that the perpetrators of the shootings had not been arrested.

Osu noted that the Federal Government had not lived up to the promise it made to secure religious places in the country after the Ozubulu church attack.

He called on the new Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Edgar Imohimi, to arrest those responsible for the Lagos shooting.

He said;

“God is the ultimate one who can protect human beings. We try as much as we can. I doubt if the Federal Government can deploy soldiers or police in churches. We are praying that God should expose the evil doers.

“The police should swing into action. Life has become so cheap in Nigeria and it is disturbing. If our security is good enough, the criminals should have been fished out by now. They must be people from that neighbourhood, people will know them. We hope they get arrested.

When they are fished out, they must face the wrath of the law.”

The UNIPORT undergraduate, who murdered his 8-year-old neighbors after he raped her, has revealed how he managed to get to Jos.

Although, It was widely speculated that he killed her for rituals, but Ifeanyi Dike says he’s not a ritual killer.

Speaking to newsmen, Ifeanyi said he travelled to Jos from Port Harcourt through a trailer that loaded goods to Jos.
He said;

“I came to Jos on August 21, 2017 because I was trying to run away from the alleged ritual offense I was said to have committed, but I am not a ritual killer.

I only had sex with the girl and cut off her body while trying to escape from the environment, but I am not a ritual killer.”
While speaking on why he was arrested trying to robbed a house in Barkin Ladi he said:

“I thought it was an abandoned house because I was looking for a place to hide so that people will not identify me, but unfortunately the owner was in the house and he raised alarm then I was arrested.”

One of the biggest stars in country music in the mid-1970s through late ‘80s, and Hall of Fame member, Don Williams, has died after an undisclosed illness.

A press release from the singer's PR team confirms his death "after a short illness," saying that funeral arrangements are pending. He was 78 years old.
American singer-songwriter Shooter Jennings took to Twitter after news of Don’s death broke to pay tribute.

He said:

“Sad about Don Williams but Troy Gentry was my friend. I had great times with him. I’m stunned, angry and upset at the moment. I’ll miss you.”

Country music star Travis Tritt also paid tribute.

He wrote:

“So sad to hear that “Gentle Giant” Don Williams has died! What an incredible legacy of great music he leaves behind. May he RIP.”



The Tulsa Time singer played his final tour in 2006, and in 2010 was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

In 1991, every single he released hit the Top 40 Billboard County charts.

He returned to the spotlight in 2012 with a new album, And So It Goes, and in 2014 with Reflections, which included contributions from stars Keith Urban, Vince Gill and Alison Krauss.

Williams retired in early 2016 after being forced to cancel a tour due to sickness. Yet in 2017, even as he stayed home, the singer enjoyed a higher profile than he had in years.

Legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw has asserted that Mr Lawrence Abrokwa, ‘husband’ of actress and comedienne Afia Schwarzenegger, used the substance believed to be acid seen in the video to defend himself.

The estranged husband of the actress may face two charges of possession and circulation of obscene material and threat of harm, after a video alleged to have been recorded by him, showed the actress caught in bed with another man barely nine months into their marriage.

In the video, Afia Schwarzenegger is seen wearing a headscarf and clad in a white towel trying to shield her private parts from the preying lenses of the camera.

Amidst threats from her husband, she is heard screaming and begging her husband not to pour a substance the man claimed was "acid", on her

Now, in an interview with MzGee on Hitz @1 on Hitz FM, Mr Ampaw, who happens to be the lawyer for Mr Abrokwa, explained that, pretending to possess the "acid" was his client’s way of defending himself against the actress and the stranger she was caught in bed with.

Mr Ampaw said;

“What I know is that they are legally married, and the information from the matrimonial home shows that, the wife has been cheating so he decided not to take the law into his own hands but rather decided to go get evidence.

“But in order to get the evidence, he had to fake holding an acid so he will not be attacked by his wife and the stranger.

So, he did that to get the evidence and that’s exactly what happened. At the end of the day he was able to get the evidence and intends to use it as a defence in court and also to file a matrimonial suit against his wife,”

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are trying to get English player Tammy Abraham to switch allegiance to the country of his father.

Abraham, who was born and raised in London and has represented England at the youth level, is still however eligible to switch his allegiance to Nigeria to play for the Super Eagles rather than the England’s Three Lions.

NFF president Amaju Pinnick and Tammy’s father grew up in the same neighbourhood in Delta State and the federation boss wants to use the relationship to lure the Chelsea loanee to the Super Eagles.

Pinnick told BBC Sport;

"We are working on getting Abraham; Tammy is like my son. His father and I grew up in the same neighbourhood,"
"So when they talk about him, I just laugh because I know what to do."

Abraham has represented England at Under-18 level and played four games for England at the European U-21 Championship in June.

He is the latest player of Nigerian descent the NFF are trying to bring to the Super Eagles following the successful snapping of the likes of Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi and recently Ola Aina.
