Celebrities / John Okafor To Shoot A Film On Xenophobia Attacks In South Africa by celebsnestblawg(m): 12:40pm On Sep 18, 2017
Popular Nollywood actor, Mr John Okafor, a.k.a Mr Ibu, has revealed that he is planning to shoot a movie highlighting the evils of xenophobia.

Mr Ibu, who spoke with newsmen in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Friday, said that majority of the actors would be South Africans while others would be drawn from Nigeria, Liberia, Kenya, Ghana and Botswana.

He said the script of the movie was being written by some gifted writers while planning and pre-production had commenced.

He said;

“I have plans to shoot a film on xenophobia. I will use mainly South African actors who will work with others from Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Kenya and Botswana.

“What I want to achieve in the movie is to turn the table around and help in promoting peace on the long run,’’

Mr Ibu also said that the film would be shot on locations in South Africa, Kenya and Botswana.

“The pre-production is on now. The scripting is also on. When I return to Nigeria, we will meet with the directors and technical crew to discuss the effects of the plot.

“When the plot impacts on our thinking, then we would have achieved something,” he said.

The actor said the next phase would be to visit the concerned countries for auditions to determine those eligible to act in the film.

Okafor said that Nollywood movie industry was still growing and would achieve set targets.

He also said he had done more than 300 movies since his debut in December, 1978.

Mr Adetola Olubajo, President, Nigeria Union, said the body would partner with Okafor on a social cohesion programme.

“We are planning a programme aimed at creating synergy and social cohesion between Nigeria and South Africa. It will take place next year and we want Okafor to be part of it,” he said.

Romance / “some Nigerian Ladies Have Killed Romance” - Relationship Expert Joro Olumofin by celebsnestblawg(m): 12:28pm On Sep 18, 2017
Relationship expert, Joro Olumofin has published a new article that talks about how Nigerian Ladies have killed romance.

According to Joro, we are in the era where the show of money equals to romance.

Read what he wrote below;

“What am I doing with a flower? Can I eat it or plant it ?” Some Nigerian ladies have killed Romance; this has led to fewer Relationships, lack of self-worth, increase in one night stands and body counts. – Joro Olumofin

Romance is very key in relationships, a proper romantic gesture from the Heart shows how a man or woman Truly feels about his significant other. In Nigeria today, because of the economy, misinformation, backward mentality in both men and women Romance is meant to be a show of Money. No money , No Romance.

Ladies be honest with yourselves in answering. let’s do a quick survey.

1?? Flowers VS Pizza & Cold stone. Which would you choose ?

2?? 4 Birthday Romantic cards VS N4,000 recharge cards.. which would you choose ?

3??Picnic in Alausa Park with sandwiches &juice VS Drinks at Quilox / Sip with small chops.. which would you choose ?

4?? iPhone Vs Candle light dinner with violin or piano serenade.. which would you choose ?

5?? N200, 000 Vs A trip to Obudu cattle ranch.

6?? A beautiful Painting of yourself Vs a Designer Bag or Shoe

If you scored less than 4 / 6 in this survey, I’m sorry you’re materialistic and romantic gestures are secondary to you which is a major problem.

Nigerian ladies are guilty of this because of peer pressures and competition, a young man wrote me last week to complain that his girlfriend asked him for a new phone, he asked her if her phone was bad she said why are you asking me questions my daddy will ask me? Just be “romantic” and buy the phone.

Ladies if your phone is not faulty why embark on a race to buy a new one in the process reducing your Wife material and diminishing your Persona.

It’s so sad that romance is dead in our generation. Flowers and cards don’t mean anything anymore. Love is now synonymous with Money, Food, and Bags.

A proper romantic gesture will follow you for life while a material gesture will fade in time. Ladies please start receiving and demanding for flowers again.

Politics / Biafra: We Are Not Pulling Out Of Abia State – Nigerian Army Insists by celebsnestblawg(m): 10:28am On Sep 15, 2017
The Nigeria Army has reacted to reports that it is pulling out of Abia state..

The army made it clear that it is not pulling its troops out of Abia state.

Recall, in a news conference on Thursday, Abia state Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, had stated that the army had agreed to pull its troops out of Aba and Umuahia – the two most volatile areas of the state.

Ikpeazu also said he was working to ensure the total withdrawal of troops from the state.

But now in a statement issued by its spokesman, Sani Usman, on Thursday night, the army said it would carry out its operation ‘Python Dance’ to “logical completion” in the state.

The statement read;

“The attention of the Nigerian army has been drawn to some stories in the media that it is withdrawing its troops from Exercise Egwu Eke II, crediting such information to Abia state governor and the general officer commanding 82 division Nigerian army.

This is not true. The Nigerian army wishes to enjoin members of the public to disregards such rumours,”

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Abia state governor in his speech stated that ‘there will be gradual withdrawal of soldiers on the streets of Aba and Umuahia from tomorrow’.

This should not be misconstrued as withdrawing of troops earmarked for Exercise Egwu Eke II. The general officer commanding 82 division has not said such thing.

“Consequently, we wish to state that Exercise Egwu Eke II is commencing tomorrow as scheduled.

Commanders have been instructed to ensure that all hands are on deck to commence the exercise to its logical completion. We wish to state further that the successful completion of the exercise will dovetail into the various states security outfits till the end of this year.”

Celebrities / “I Misunderstood Akpororo’s Joke”- Rapper Yung6ix Admits (video) by celebsnestblawg(m): 6:38pm On Sep 13, 2017
Nigerian Rapper Yung6ix has claimed that he misunderstood comedian Akpororo’s outburst about buying a hit song instead of wasting money on liquor.

The rapper in a new interview with Hip TV said that he never got the full joke.

He said;

At first when everybody started….I didn’t get to see the full joke. But when I got to see it, I realized it was a joke. Its all entertainment. So no feelings/emotions attached. I knew it was a joke.

We all made fun about it and all took advantage of the fact that I was trending and I had a new video out there. I don’t see anything coming between me and him or whatever.

He is my Delta brother and I respect him and his talent, but I wouldn’t even joke or make jokes about anything that would make people feel indifferent about their success.

People make mistakes, people say jokes and like they always say, the joke is always funny until it’s about you. I felt that way.

In case you missed it, Akpororo had joked on Ajebo's show that Yung6ix should have used the 3.9m he used in a night club to get himself a hit track..

Yung6ix and his team then responded with insults with his DJ, DJ Timmy, calling the comedian's wife a sex slave

Celebrities / I Dnt Want People 2 Vote Fr Me Based On My Story- Sosoliso Crash Survivor, Kechi by celebsnestblawg(m): 12:28pm On Sep 13, 2017
Kechi Okwuchi of America’s Got Talent has thanked her fans for how much they have supported her all through her journey at the 12th season of the talent show, however, she wishes she would win based on her talent.

According to LIB, the plane crash survivor had a talk session with fans, and she answered their questions, while sharing more about herself, her aspirations and what she thinks of her journey at the AGT so far.

The 27-year-old singer said;

“It would be amazing to make it to top 10 but honestly if I make it that far, I think that is probably where I might stop just because I feel there are some people there who are good.

There are a lot of singers and a lot of us know how to sing. I am so grateful to get this far but I feel like if I win it might be a little unfair because I don’t want people to vote for me based on my story and how much they like me and feel they are inspired by me,”

She continued;

“The main part of the show is the talent part and there are such amazing people that have amazing talents and I feel some of them may be more deserving. So, then again you never know, God’s plans are not our plans and he can see further than we can so I don’t want to go and say something that might counter what he has planned.

Lets just say what will happen will happen. Let it just be what God wants.”

Culture / You Are Wearing Fake Crowns- Olubadan Tells 21 Newly Crowned Kings Of Ibadan by celebsnestblawg(m): 11:41am On Sep 13, 2017
The Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji, has in a statement described the crowns given to the 21 new kings in Ibadan as fake.

In a press statement released by the Director, Media and Public Affairs to the monarch, Adeola Oloko, after the monarch received members of the Council of Authentic Ibadan Mogajis who paid him a solidarity visit at his palace on Tuesday.

He said that he waited for 40 years before he was made a king, urging the high chiefs who were crowned king by the state government to wait for their turn to become kings.

Olubadan said;

“I started as a Mogaji. I was moving step by step before I assumed the throne after 40 years.

I thank God for that. We must all love one another. If you love yourself and hate others, your purpose of love is nothing. I was called by the elders of my family to come and become a Mogaji more    than 40 years ago.

I rejected it and for three years, they were persuading me.

“In trying to convince me, the representative of my family told me that it could be that one day I would become a king. I then accepted it and became the Mogaji of my family. I waited on God and he made me a king.

“Those who were crowned a few weeks ago know within themselves that they are wearing fake crowns, it is just a carton crown. I began my journey more than 40 years, why can’t they wait for their turn. If you don’t wait for your turn, you will be on the wrong side of destiny.”

He added;

“The Olubadan described as untrue and unfounded the statement credited to a group of Ibadan elders that Kabiyesi had consented to the controversial chieftaincy review embarked upon by the Oyo State Government resulting in the controversial crowning of 21 new kings.

“Oba Adetunji stated that the elders should not mislead Ibadan people into believing what he did not say, as what he said was that Governor Ajimobi, over whom they had come to plead, was his son and that he would not want a third party intervention over the matter.

The Olubadan said for the avoidance of doubt, his opposition to the elevation of high chiefs to kingship status without domain remained the same.

“The Olubadan said that he could not see how he would bless the high chiefs who had refused to wait for their turn before stepping forward to take crowns from the government, contrary to our tradition and custom.

“The king said that the same Ibadan Elders’ Forum stoutly opposed the former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala’s move to elevate six baales in their letter dated April 24, 2009. On page two of that letter titled, ‘The composition of Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs’, signed by Ambassador Olu Sanu and Onaolapo Ajibola, they stated,

“The (Ibadan Chieftaincy) system had worked for ages and ensured peace and stability in Ibadan land and the forum would therefore not want the government to tamper with the system in order not to create confusion and ill feeling.’

“The first-class monarch has therefore urged the Ibadan elders to stop contradicting themselves and creating confusion for peace and progress of Ibadan land.”

Celebrities / "My Beef With 50 Cent Earned Nigerian Musicians Respect" - Eedris Abdulkareem by celebsnestblawg(m): 10:50am On Sep 13, 2017
Veteran Nigerian singer, Eedris Abdulkareem has said that his feud with American rapper, 50 cent earned Nigerian musicans respect all over the country.

Recall 13 years ago, Eedris Abdulkareem attempted to sit in a seat reserved for 50 Cent, but was prevented from doing so.

The American rapper was billed to headline the annual Star Mega Jam when a mild drama ensued aboard an ADC airline from Lagos to Port Harcourt.

50 Cent asked him to get out of his seat, Eedris refused and told him that Nigeria was his country and that he has the right to seat anywhere.

Now, speaking in an interview with LIB, the “JAGAJAGA” who claimed he was protesting to the treatment given to foreign and local acts during the musical tour, said the beef was the revolution that got every artiste respected in the Nigerian industry and outside the country.

In his words;

When I was on the plane with 50, and he asked me to get the hell out of his seat. I said no, this is Nigeria, this is my country.

‘He can’t come here and tell me shit, that isn’t gonna happen. That was the revolution that got every artistes respected in the Nigerian industry and it took them all over the country.’

‘That was the defending moment for the Nigerian artistes, I can remember at the back stage, Psquare was sent away, a couple of people were also sent a way and I wasn’t happy about it.’

‘But moving forward, I’m happy for the Nigerian Industry and am happy with everything that’s happening today.’

3 years later, in 2007, the pair squashed off their beef when 50 Cent came to Nigeria to perform at media launch of the KORA Awards in Abuja, Eedris publicly apologised to him on stage.

Politics / "I Was Considering Which Country To Run To - President Buhari Jokes In A Meeting by celebsnestblawg(m): 5:43pm On Sep 11, 2017
President Muhammadu Buhari says he is thankful for the improved rainy season in the country in the last two years, admitting that he would have run away from the country if there was no rain.

Buhari said this on Monday when he received the National Council of Traditional Rulers led by the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad SAbubakar III, in Aso Villa, Abuja.

He said, “We are lucky this year that last year and this year the rainy season is good. If it were not good, I must confide in you that I was considering which country to run to. But God answered the prayers of many Nigerians. The rainy season last year was good and this year with the report I’m getting is good. We thank God for that otherwise there would have been a lot of problems in this country.”

Buhari said the mismanagement of resources over the years was responsible for the current economic hardship.

The President said that he would continue to pursue programmes that would improve the lives of Nigerians.

Earlier, the Sultan of Sokoto, while thanking God for bringing Buhari back, urged him to act fast.

He said, “We will continue to preach peace and stability, justice, transparency and accountability and anti-corruption.”

Speaking for the South-West, the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunnusi, also thanked God for the safe return of Buhari.

Ogunwusi said, “From the South-West we thank God for your life and we pledge to support you from our communities because we are closer to our people. We will continue to preach to our people that we should continue to foster peace in our country, we will continue to caution our youths against hate speech.

“We cannot leave the development of the country all to the government but we have to work hand in hand. We assure you that we support all your initiatives.”

Speaking for the North-West, the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, said the traditional rulers identified with Buhari’s commitment to national security.

Speaking for the South-South, Jaja of Opobo urged the President to quickly fix the economy.

He said, “We know there is tension here and there but as traditional rulers, we don’t eat politics. The economy has to be fixed. Coming from the region that produces the mainstay of the economy, even though the country will soon diversify the economy, before we diversify let’s protect the one that we still have. We are pleased to work for peace and stability of the region so that we can all see the benefits of the commodity.”

The Gbom Gwom Jos, Jacob Gyang, who spoke on behalf of the North-Central, also thanked God for bringing the President back to celebrate Sallah with fellow Nigerians.

He told the President that at least 20 people were killed in Plateau State on Friday

Gyang said, “Few days ago just when we thought peace had returned to Plateau, it was truncated with the attack on Ancha village in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, leading to 20 deaths.”

He commended Buhari for ordering the security agencies to fish out those responsible for the attacks and the reasons for the attack.

Speaking for the South -East, Chairman of South-East Traditional Council, Eberechi Dike, said, “Our hearts are full of joy that you are back. You shook our hands when you came in and that shows you believe in one Nigeria. We prayed for you and you are back. We prayed for you because your agenda for Nigeria is good. “As your children when we cry it is for you to ask us to stop crying that you will fix whatever is making us cry like the bad roads.”

Speaking for the North-East, the Lamido Adamawa, Muhammadu Musdafa, said Nigerians were happy to have the President back.

Business / Google Launches Appeal Against €2.4billion EU Fine by celebsnestblawg(m): 3:46pm On Sep 11, 2017
World's number 1 search engine, Google on Monday launched a legal challenge to a record 2.4-billion euro fine imposed by European anti-trust authorities for favouring its own shopping service, lodging an appeal at the EU court in Luxembourg.

The move sets up a court battle between Brussels and the internet giant that could take years to resolve and make already tense relations between Europe and the US tech giant even more fraught.

The EU hit Google with the record fine in June for illegally favouring its shopping service in search results, giving the company 90 days to comply or face further fines.

A spokesman for the Court of Justice of the European Union confirmed to AFP that the appeal had been submitted.

Lodging the appeal does not suspend the fine, meaning Google is still obliged to pay up, though it can put the money in a blocked account until the decision is reached.

Concurrent to the appeal, Google last week also notified to the EU that it would attempt to meet the demands of the EU decision.

In an interview with AFP, Europe's anti-trust chief Margrethe Vestager last week said some of that proposal "pointed in the very right direction", but could only be judged once in effect.

This had raised hopes that Google may be choosing a more conciliatory road with the EU, but the appeal risks embittering matters still further.

A spokesman for Google confirmed Monday they had filed the appeal but said the company had no further comment to make.

Crime / Groups Attack Rivers State Police Over Escaped UNIPORT Ritualist Who Killed 8yr by celebsnestblawg(m): 8:50am On Sep 08, 2017

Non-governmental organizations in Rivers State have expressed reservations about the efforts made so far by the police in the search for the fleeing ritual murder suspect who escaped from police custody.

It’s been one month since the incident occurred in Port Harcourt, the state capital but the whereabouts of the Ifeanyichukwu Dike remains unknown.

Therefore the International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA is calling on the Rivers State Police Command to take more proactive measures in the search for the fleeing suspect.

Similarly the African Women Lawyers Association wants the police command to refrain from any attempt to cover up the involvement of some of its officers in the escape of the suspect.

Also the Medical Women Association has called on the police to carry out diligent investigation in order to apprehend all those involved in ritual killings in the state.

This coalition of professional bodies is advocating the creation of specialized children protection units in all divisional police stations in Rivers State in response to the rising cases of violence against children in the society.

Sports / "Arsenal Are Ready For Failure" - Jose Mourinho Mocks Arsene Wenger by celebsnestblawg(m): 8:45pm On Sep 06, 2017

Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho has some jibes for Arsene Wenger by suggesting Arsenal are “ready for failure” due to his continued role as manager of the club.

The Manchester United boss has been defending suggestions he is a short-term manager, insisting he always prepares clubs for success.

Mourinho, 54, has never spent longer than three years in one spell at any club and is on a contract of that duration at Old Trafford.

Despite success with the likes of Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid, some detractors have pointed to an apparent lack of staying power –denying him the kind of legacy created by Man United legend Sir Alex Ferguson.

But the Portuguese, speaking to The Times, responded defiantly to accusations of short-termism, and also launched an apparent dig at old adversary Wenger, whose achievements at Arsenal are at risk of being undermined by their recent struggles.

Mourinho said:

“If people say that because I move from club to club, they’re right, but I don’t think I am [a short-term manager].

“I prepare clubs for success. I think I prepare clubs in a way where, when I leave, the new manager arrives at a top club. And that is not short term, even if you leave.

“If you’re in a club one or two years – or any job – if you leave a structure to be even more successful without you than with you, that’s not short term. That’s long term.

“You can be there 10 or 20 years and, when you leave the club, it’s ready for failure.”

Mourinho is known for winning the league title in his second season at a club – a feat he has achieved five times – and United’s 2017-18 campaign has started promisingly, with three victories from as many Premier League matches.

Next up is Saturday’s trip to Stoke City, before the club’s return to the Champions League commences with the visit of Basel at Old Traford.

Politics / "Recession Ends When Nigerians Can Eat 3 Times Daily" - Atiku Abubakar by celebsnestblawg(m): 7:03pm On Sep 06, 2017

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has said recession is not over until Nigerians can eat three square meals.

He said this while responding to a report by the NBS that the nation has exited recession.

In a series of tweets in Wednesday, Atiku said although the news was a good one, inflation was still high.

He wrote, “As a Nigerian, investor and employer of labour, the news of Nigeria’s official emergence from the recession is most welcome.

“The news is surely a boost for Nigeria — it tells investors, local and foreign, that our economy is worth investing in.

“While we rejoice, it’s also important to recognise that economic weakness at the bottom of the pyramid remains. Inflation is still high.

“We must continue working hard to expand economic opportunity for all Nigerians.

“When all Nigerians can eat three square meals, that’s when the real recession ends. We have work to do.”

Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, has emerged as the consensus candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2018 governorship election.

Olusola emerged from the list of strong contenders for the governorship ticket as the “most preferred candidate” at a meeting held on Wednesday by party bigwigs in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State capital.

The meeting was attended by serving and former members of the PDP State Working Committee, members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, chieftains of the party at the 16 local governments and 177 wards, as well as Chairmen and members of Boards and Parastatals among others.

Olusola, an indigene of Ikere Ekiti which is the second largest town in Ekiti, was adopted before the commencement of a retreat organised for members to sensitise them ahead of the 2018 election.

The adoption of the deputy governor, who is a professor of Building Technology from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, was the major decision reached at the party’s stakeholders meeting.

The communique issued at the end of the meeting read, “After due consultation, without prejudice to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended), we formally endorse His Excellency, Prof Kolapo Olusola (the current deputy governor), from Ekiti South Senatorial District, as our preferred aspirant/candidate.”

Those who signed the communique are Anifowose Mustapha for Councillors, Alhaji Amuda Sunmonu for Ward Chairmen; Mr Femi Bamisile for Local Government Party Chairmen; Dapo Olagunju for Association of Local Government Chairmen, Senator Bode Ola for Chairmen of Boards and Parastatals, Dr Modupe Alade (Secretary to the State Government) for State Executive Council, Speaker Kolawole Oluwawole for EKHA and the State Chairman of the party, Chief Gboyega Oguntuase.

Speaking with journalists after the adoption, Oguntuase said the party organs would abide by the decision taken by the stakeholders in the overall interest of the party and the entire people of Ekiti State.

He, however, said that the adoption would not preclude any member of the party that was interested in the governorship ticket from contesting.

Education / "Scrap The JAMB If The Pass Mark Is Low" – Journalist Tells Federal Government by celebsnestblawg(m): 4:08pm On Sep 05, 2017

The TVC News Head of Output, Joshua Ajayi, has reacted to the reduced cut off mark as he advocated for the scrapping of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB)

Ajayi who spoke while featuring on TVC’s YourView programm, said;

"it is unassuming to set a cut off mark at 30% when the overall mark stands at 400.
”If Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) sets mark for 400 and pass mark is 30 percent, that means one can actually scrap JAMB,”

Recall, JAMB recently announced 120 and 100 as cut off marks for admissions into Universities and Polytechnics respectively across the country.
