PoliticsTension In Warri As Itsekiri Threaten To Shut Down Oil Facilities In Protest by Celestialsword(op): 6:49pm On Jul 02, 2025
Tension is brewing in some parts of Warri, the commercial hub of Delta State, as one of the ethnic groups, the Itsekiri nation, has threatened to shut down all oil and gas installations in their domain in protest of what they called a ‘compromised final report’ on the ward delineation exercise.
This comes on the heels of reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has perfected plans to release the final report on the controversial ward delineation exercise conducted in Warri Federal Constituency.

The development, if not averted beforehand, may likely breach the peace in the area and cause a fresh economic crisis in the oil and gas sector, as a pro-Itsekiri pressure group, on Wednesday, July 2, warned of the impending danger.

The group, Iwere Indigenous Peoples’ Movement (IIPM), in a communiqué after an emergency meeting held in Warri, Delta State, on Wednesday, July 2, warned that Nigeria’s oil sector would bleed as from Friday, July 4, if nothing urgent is done to avert the plot by the Itsekiri nation to totally shut down critical oil and gas facilities in Warri Federal Constituency, parts of Delta Central, and Edo State.

The communiqué alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), backed by the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, had concluded plans to release a “compromised final report of ward and unit delineation in Warri Federal Constituency” despite the “legitimate, historical, statistical, and scientifically verified documents submitted to INEC and the Office of the National Security Adviser, after the release of the obnoxious delineation report earlier presented to stakeholders in Asaba, Delta State.”

In the communiqué, which was signed by Messrs Emiko Oghomienor, Ofoyeju Izuagie, Appearance Afejuku, Samuel Meyiwa Khalil, Ejeh Wilson, and David Mamah, the IIPM hinted that arrangements have been concluded to totally shut down all oil and gas facilities, including tank farms, export terminals, flow stations, depots, operational offices of International Oil and Gas Companies (IOCs), as well as seaports in Itsekiri homelands from 12 midnight on Friday, July 4.

It further reads: “Since the Federal and Delta State governments have decided to disregard the Itsekiri people, known for respecting the rule of law, maintaining peace and security, we are left with no other option than to toe the path the government prefers.

“Treating our collective resolve with levity would have grave consequences for the socio-economic life of the country. We will not allow any jot of our homeland to be forcefully and illegitimately given to our customary tenants under the pretext of ward and unit delineation.

“The about-to-be-released INEC final delineation report for Warri Federal Constituency makes a mockery of INEC’s guidelines, rubbishes court judgements on ownership of lands in Warri Federal Constituency, and portrays Nigeria as a lawless state.”

PoliticsAre Africans Genetically Inferior? by Celestialsword(op): 4:43am On Jul 02, 2025
First, it is vital to know that the notion of genetic inferiority comes from eugenics, a controversial field that started in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Eugenics was based on the idea that some genetic features may be passed on to make people better, while others, called “undesirable,” should be stopped or gotten rid of. In my opinion, eugenics could simply be referred to as human genetic mutilation or selective breeding to improve genetic quality to derive a desired outcome from procreation. However, efforts to “improve” people through selective breeding are unethical and unscientific. So, eugenics is now widely condemned by scientists, ethicists, and governments.

During this time, racial superiority theories were widely promoted, especially in Western countries, with some arguing that people of African descent were inherently inferior in comparison to people of European descent. These theories were often based on misinterpretations of scientific findings, rather than objective or reliable evidence.

Over time, the theory of racial genetic inferiority has been discredited by scientists, and modern genetics has proven that there is no inherent genetic difference in intelligence, abilities, or worth between races. In fact, Africa is often referred to as the “Cradle of Humanity,” as the continent is believed to be the origin of the human species. The genetic diversity within African populations is the highest in the world, meaning that Africa has a rich genetic heritage. Many of the world’s greatest achievements in science, technology, art, and culture have been contributed by Africans, both on the continent and globally. Africans have proven time and again their resilience, creativity, and intellectual capacity. Historically, the idea of African inferiority was used as a tool for colonization and exploitation, as colonizers justified their control over African people by claiming they were “genetically inferior.” This false narrative has had long-lasting effects on the perception of African people, but it is not supported by any credible scientific evidence.

In fact, the human genetic material is 99.9% identical across all populations, meaning that any differences that do exist are minimal and do not support claims of racial superiority or inferiority. Therefore, differences in traits like intelligence or physical ability are not determined by race, but by a complex interplay of genetics, environment, upbringing, diet, education, and opportunity. More so intelligence is a multifaceted trait that cannot be accurately measured by any single factor, and it certainly cannot be linked to race. In fact, differences in intelligence, behavior, or success are not genetically determined by race. Unfortunately, the legacy of eugenics has had a lasting impact, particularly in how people of African descent are perceived and treated worldwide. These stereotypes still exist today, in both subtle and overt forms. For instance, historical prejudices about African intellectual and physical abilities continue to shape certain attitudes and policies, often leading to systemic inequalities in education, employment, and healthcare. Throughout the continent, many Africans have made significant contributions to global culture, science, and politics. For example, in Lagos, the tech startup scene has expanded rapidly in recent years, producing innovative solutions to problems such as poverty, healthcare, and education.

Nigerian inventors, like the creator of the mobile banking platform Paga, are leading efforts to revolutionise how Africans access financial services. This example, along with others across the continent, proves that Africans are not “genetically inferior”; instead, they are resourceful, capable, and full of potential. In fact, the notion of genetic inferiority is not only scientifically flawed but also morally damaging, as it undermines the hard work and resilience of countless individuals who have defied the odds to succeed.

The key point to remember is that race has no inherent connection to intelligence, physical ability, or worth. Every person, regardless of their background, has the potential to achieve greatness. Instead of clinging to outdated and discredited ideas of genetic inferiority, the world should focus on promoting equality, providing access to resources, and celebrating the diversity within our global community. Africa’s history has been shaped by colonisation, exploitation, and division. These external forces were often justified by beliefs in racial superiority and the myth of African inferiority. However, in recent decades, Africans have made substantial progress in overcoming these challenges, demonstrating that, when given the opportunity, they can excel in every field.

In Lagos and other African cities, there is a growing sense of pride and determination. People are fighting for better education, healthcare, and infrastructure, showing that the idea of genetic inferiority is nothing more than a harmful myth. Ultimately, Africans are no more genetically inferior to any other group. The idea that one race or group is genetically superior to another is rooted in ignorance and lacks any scientific foundation. As Africa continues to develop and make remarkable progress, it is clear that the continent and its people possess limitless potential. Therefore, it is time to discard these damaging stereotypes and focus on creating a world where everyone, regardless of background, has the chance to succeed. Africa is not merely a continent with challenges; it is a land of enormous potential, rich history, and remarkable resilience. The true value of any society lies in its diversity and its ability to uplift each individual to reach their highest potential. Moving forward, we must prioritise equality, celebrate diversity, and work together towards a world where opportunity is accessible to all. Good luck!

PoliticsRevealed:real Reason Why Ganduje Resigned As APC National Chairman by Celestialsword(op): 4:24am On Jul 02, 2025
Ganduje, a former governor of Kano State, reportedly tendered his resignation letter yesterday, citing health reasons.

However, reliable sources, who spoke to Weekend Trust, linked Ganduje’s resignation to permutations ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The sources confirmed that the head of one of the security agencies was at Ganduje’s residence around 2 a.m. on Friday to demand his resignation letter.

“We are all shocked. We didn’t see it coming,” said a source close to the former chairman.

The source also disclosed that a governor from the North East who has been very active in the party and a prominent politician from the North West who is very close to the president visited Ganduje yesterday “apparently to console him.”

Meanwhile, earlier yesterday, Ganduje led members of the party’s National Working Committee, NEC, on a condolence visit to the Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago at the state’s liaison office in Abuja, over the devastating Mokwa flood and bandit attacks in Mariga LGA on the state.

The visit is believed to be the last offcial function he performed as national chairman of the APC.

Kwankwaso’s Expected Return To APC a Deciding Factor

Regarding the motive behind the move, one of the sources linked it to reports that the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, whom Tinubu is perceived to have long courted, was considering joining the opposition coalition led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

“You know Kwankwaso gave the president one condition for rejoining the APC: Ganduje’s removal as national chairman. With Ganduje in charge, Kwankwaso couldn’t assume party leadership in Kano,” the source said.

“We learnt that the president was informed that Kwankwaso had been approached by the Atiku-led coalition and was already considering the offer. That may have triggered Ganduje’s removal,” the source added.

Another source, who also confirmed the Kwankwaso factor, said the upcoming APC congress likely influenced the decision. According to him, Tinubu may have realised that retaining Ganduje would make it harder to bring Kwankwaso and other political heavyweights from various states into the APC. Without state structures to offer, these figures would be unlikely to join.

The North Central Factor

Beyond the Kwankwaso dynamics, Ganduje’s tenure was also said to have faced sustained opposition from the party’s stakeholders in the North Central where his predecessor, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, hails from.

Adamu, a former governor of Nasarawa State, was reportedly forced to resign after the 2023 general elections. He was believed not to have not supported Tinubu during the APC presidential primaries. He was said to have backed the then Senate president, Ahmad Lawan, as the consensus candidate. Tinubu ultimately defeated Lawan and others to clinch the ticket.

After the elections, Adamu resigned, paving the way for Ganduje, a key Tinubu campaigner, to assume the chairmanship of the party. But since then, North Central stakeholders have demanded that the position return to their zone, rather than remain in the North West where Ganduje comes from.

With Ganduje’s exit, attention has shifted to the North Central for his replacement, with the spotlight on three prominent figures: Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, Senator George Akume and Senator Mohammed Sani Musa, also known as 313.

A founding APC member and former governor of Nasarawa State, Al-Makura is viewed as Tinubu’s loyalist. He was believed to have played a central role in the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) bloc during the 2013 merger that birthed the APC.

Senator Akume, who is the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) is seen as a loyalist and associate of President Tinubu, having served as governor of Benue State the same time the president served as governor of Lagos State.

Senator Musa, who represents Niger East Senatorial District and had previously contested the party’s chairmanship, is also a close ally of the president. Musa is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance.

However, analysts say the trio face a structural challenge: the fact that APC governors currently lead their respective states. Since governors are traditionally recognised as party leaders in their states, this dynamics may complicate the trio’s chances resigned, paving the way for Ganduje, a key Tinubu campaigner, to assume the chairmanship of the party. But since then, North Central stakeholders have demanded that the position return to their zone, rather than remain in the North West where Ganduje comes from.

Dalori May Emerge Acting Chair As APC Mulls Emergency NEC Meeting

Barring any last-minute change of decision, the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the party, Hon. Abubakar Kyari Dalori, is expected to assume control of the party’s national leadership in acting capacity, following Ganduje’s resignation. He is likely to remain in the position until the party’s national convention scheduled for November.

APC’s National Director of Publicity, Bala Ibrahim, told Daily Trust last night that he was not aware of Ganduje’s resignation. However, he explained that constitutionally, if the office of national chairman becomes vacant, the deputy national chairman from the same region would automatically take over in acting capacity.

“So, as things stand today, if indeed Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has resigned, the deputy national chairman (North) will step in as acting chairman. That is Dalori. But that’s if he has truly resigned as you’ve said. I’m not confirming to you that Dr Ganduje has resigned,” Ibrahim said.

According to Weekend Trust, an emergency meeting of the APC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) was being planned to be held in the coming days.

At the meeting, an interim arrangement may be formalised, pending the ratification or election of a substantive chairman at the November convention.

Party insiders said consultations were ongoing and might lead to the emergence of a consensus candidate in order to avoid divisive contests and internal fragmentation.

Since the formation of the APC in 2013, the party has had six national chairmen, most of whom left office under controversial circumstances.

The six chairmen are Chief Bisi Akande (2013–2014), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun (2014–2018), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole (2018–2020), Mai Mala Buni (2020–2022), Senator Abdullahi Adamu (2022–2023) and Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje (2023–2025).

Abdullahi Adamu’s leadership faced sustained criticisms. He was accused of high-handedness, including unilateral dismissal of party directors and replacing them with loyalists; an allegation he denied publicly.

Amid mounting internal tensions and leadership disputes, Adamu eventually resigned via a letter addressed to President Tinubu.

Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State and ex-president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), became APC chairman in June 2018 with the backing of the then President Muhammadu Buhari and key party figures.

But his tenure was marred by factional conflicts and internal crises. On June 25, 2020, the NEC dissolved the Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee (NWC), alleging abuse of office and failure to unite party interests.

Following Oshiomhole’s removal, the NEC appointed Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni as chairman of the National Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee.

The committee was initially given six months from June 2020 to conduct a national convention, but the timeline was extended in December 2020 by another six months to allow time for reconciliation among aggrieved members.

While the Buni-led committee succeeded in attracting several high-profile defectors to the APC, it was widely criticised for failing to deliver a timely convention. The mounting pressure led to the convention from which Adamu emerged as chairman.

Oyegun, another former governor of Edo State, was the APC’s first substantive national chairman following its registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).He succeeded.

Since naira is not a stable currency we have do the calculation with the value of a stable currency against the naira which is dollar.

In 2008 the average naira to dollar exchange rate was #117 per dollar. #50000 divided by #117 per dollar = $427.

To get the new value we multiply $427 by the current dollar to naira rate of #1560 per dollar = #666,120.

So that #50,000 is worth about #666,000 in our today's economy.

Politics2 Northerners That Could Replace Shettima As Tinubu's VP In 2027 by Celestialsword(op): 7:00pm On Jul 01, 2025
Nigerians have been talking about President Bola Tinubu’s next move, especially when it comes to who will be his running mate in the 2027 presidential election.

While Vice-President Kashim Shettima is still very much part of the picture, there are growing speculations that Tinubu might consider other influential northern politicians to boost his chances against a rising opposition coalition.

According to reports, Tinubu is carefully planning his strategy. One part of that plan may include picking a vice-presidential candidate who can attract massive votes from the northern region. Let’s take a look at three top northern politicians who could most likely replace Shettima as Tinubu’s running mate in the 2027 general election.

Kashim Shettima, Nigeria’s current vice president, still remains a strong option. Despite rumors of disagreements between him and Tinubu, there has been no official confirmation of any rift. In fact, the presidency continues to insist that the two leaders remain united.

Shettima has been praised for his loyalty, calmness, and competence. Some political observers believe Tinubu may choose to stick with him, especially since they’ve worked together without major public conflict. As one legal expert noted, “There is no reason to fix what isn’t broken.”

Still, politics cannot be predictable, and Tinubu may decide to shake things up to appeal to a broader voting base in the north.

Abdulaziz Yari, the former governor of Zamfara State, is another top name being considered. Yari currently serves as a senator representing Zamfara West, and he’s known for having strong political influence, especially in the northwest.

He made headlines in 2023 when he challenged Godswill Akpabio for the position of Senate President, showing that he’s not afraid to take bold political steps. If Tinubu picks Yari as his running mate, it could help him build stronger support in the Senate, a move that could smooth governance if re-elected.

Yari’s inclusion on the ticket could also help the APC regain lost ground in parts of the north, especially among voters who feel underrepresented.

Rabiu Kwankwaso is one of the most influential politicians in northern Nigeria. He ran for president in 2023 under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and performed strongly, especially in Kano State. His party not only defeated the APC in Kano but also took control of several key positions, including the governorship.

Kwankwaso’s name keeps coming up as a possible political option for Tinubu. There have even been rumors that he might return to the APC. If that happens, and Tinubu chooses him as a running mate, it could be a political masterstroke.

With Kwankwaso on the ticket, Tinubu could gain millions of northern votes, especially from Kano, one of Nigeria’s most populous states. It could also weaken the strength of any opposition coalition trying to challenge the president in 2027.

HealthRe: Ventolin Inhaler Now ₦18,000? Nigerians React To Drug Price Surge by Celestialsword:
Activa1:
The prices of drugs in Nigeria have tripled in recent years, causing severe strain on citizens and healthcare providers. As medications become less affordable, patients are skipping treatment, and pharmacies are struggling to keep up. This crisis is driven by currency devaluation, import dependency, high local production costs, and economic instability. @dame__betty: “Ventolin inhaler went from ₦1,700 to ₦18,000. Seretide from ₦8,000 to ₦50,000. Who do I tell my story to?” This persistent Drug Price Surge in Nigeria continues to push essential healthcare further out of reach for many.

Currency Devaluation Fuels Price Surge

The dramatic fall of the Nigerian Naira is one of the key reasons behind the surge in medicine prices. Since the Central Bank of Nigeria floated the currency in 2023, the Naira has lost significant value. Back in 2022, $1 was around ₦451. Today, it’s over ₦1,490.

This change means drug importers need more Naira to buy the same amount of medicine from abroad. Because many medications or ingredients are priced in dollars, a weaker Naira automatically raises the cost of importing them. Analysts say Nigeria’s drug import bill could exceed ₦900 billion in 2024.

Common drugs like antibiotics and insulin have seen price jumps from 50% to over 100%. With the same pills now costing more Naira, the financial burden on Nigerians grows heavier each day.

Dependence on Imported Medicines Hurts Locals

Another major cause of high prices of drugs in Nigeria is the country’s overreliance on imports. About 70% of Nigeria’s medications come from countries like India and China. Local companies supply only about 25%.

This means any disruption in the global supply chain, or a rise in international prices, affects Nigeria directly. Imported medicines often have prices pegged to the dollar. So when the Naira falls, patients feel the pressure.

Some antimalarial drugs have jumped by 25% in a few months. Life-saving antibiotics have doubled in price. And with high demand and short supply, counterfeit drugs and smuggling are on the rise.

High Costs of Local Drug Production

It would seem local manufacturing could provide a solution. But producing medicine in Nigeria is expensive. Companies face unreliable power, high energy prices, poor infrastructure, and unclear regulations.

Most factories run on diesel generators. Rising fuel prices add to costs. Bad roads increase logistics expenses. And government policies are often inconsistent, with complex taxes and delays at ports.

Pharmaceutical companies also struggle to access affordable loans. Some pay up to 40% interest, making it hard to expand. These high costs are passed on to the buyer. As a result, many drug factories have shut down, pushing Nigeria further into import dependency and by extension, the Drug Price Surge in Nigeria to an all time high.

Exit of Major Pharma Giants Worsens Situation

Even global pharmaceutical firms are leaving Nigeria. In 2023, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) closed its operations in Nigeria after decades. Sanofi-Aventis followed, ending direct business by 2024.

These companies cited poor infrastructure, foreign exchange shortages, and regulatory uncertainty as reasons for exiting. Their withdrawal has reduced access to essential medicines like vaccines and insulin.

With fewer players in the market, competition drops and prices of drugs in Nigeria rise even further. This sends a troubling message to potential investors.

Economic Instability Deepens Drug price Crisis

Nigeria’s unstable economy has made things worse. The country relies heavily on oil exports. When oil prices drop, national income falls. Inflation has risen above 20% in recent years, slashing the buying power of citizens.

In 2023, the removal of fuel subsidies led to a spike in petrol and diesel prices. This raised transport and production costs for drug makers. The exchange rate reforms also caused the Naira to drop suddenly.

Healthcare budgets remain low. Only 5% of the 2024 national budget was allocated to health. That means more Nigerians must buy drugs from private pharmacies at full price, with no help from government subsidies.

Nigerians are feeling the weight of rising prices of drugs in Nigeria. Many can no longer afford their medications. People skip doses, reduce usage, or turn to herbal remedies. Health experts say this trend is dangerous.

One Port Harcourt resident shared how her malaria drugs went from ₦9,000 to ₦18,000. She switched to a ₦1,500 herbal alternative. While some find relief, others risk harmful side effects from unregulated treatments.

Pharmacists say patients now often ask for half prescriptions or cheaper options. Doctors report more emergency cases caused by missed treatments for conditions like hypertension or diabetes.

Medication non-adherence has risen by 20–30%. Chronic illnesses are going untreated. This leads to more hospital visits, worse health outcomes, and higher long-term costs.

Voices From Citizens

@dame__betty: “Ventolin inhaler went from ₦1,700 to ₦18,000. Seretide from ₦8,000 to ₦50,000. Who do I tell my story to?”

@DreFiddy7: “This drug saved my life. I thank God and my parents that I can still afford it. But APC supporters? May they suffer like the rest of us.”

@Izu_Chi_Ukwu: “I bought it for ₦3,850 in 2021. Now it’s ₦24,000. Herbs are the future. Moringa and Neem tea for me.”

@Cerakay: “GSK left Nigeria because of poor power supply and bad government policies.”

@LydiaChrist: “Don’t fall sick. Health is wealth, truly.”

@ObiSoccer: “Even marketers are wicked. Nigerians make life harder for each other.”

@AweJacobDaniel3: “Foreign investors are leaving. Yet Tinubu claims he’s going abroad to attract more. It doesn’t add up.”

What Lies Ahead

The Drug Price Surge in Nigeria won’t drop overnight. But there are paths forward. Experts are urging the government to stabilize the Naira, support local manufacturers, and subsidize essential medicines.

They also recommend boosting the health budget and expanding insurance to protect vulnerable citizens. For now, Nigerians continue to face daily struggles at the pharmacy counter. The hope is that with better economic planning and healthcare policies, the tide can turn.

Until then, affordable medicine remains out of reach for many, a reminder that health is not just a personal issue but a national responsibility.

Emiefele was persecuted, But Buhari was not touch.
If Emiefele must go down, then Buhari should be in prison with some of his Minister's.
Has any Nigerian past presidents ever been probed or prosecuted.

It's only those that they used in carrying out the looting and wrong policies that were probed but never jailed because their oga is manipulating behind.

Same with Emefiele and many others before him.
