There are floods right now in Austria, Texas, Wisconsin, China, India, Switzerland and many other places. However, in none of these places are people blaming their governments or mocking their countries, all except Nigeria. And especially residents of Lagos.

Nigeria is not 'useless' because of the Lagos floods and Lagos is not a big ghetto as many people are saying online.

This current flood is not the fault of the Lagos Government. Please fact-check me: Lagos Island is only 22 feet above sea level. With such low elevations, Lagos will always experience annual floods. The situation is worsened by stubborn people who build illegal structures on waterways, drainages, and canals. And when the Lagos State Government comes to demolish these structures, people like Peter Obi and Oby Ezekwesili make it hard for them by bringing up ethnicity and playing the victim card.

Do you realise that Lagos is actually a global example of a city that works and is well run? Lagos gave you Nigeria's first Independent Power Project. You have blue and red railway lines crisscrossing the state, probably the best public bus routes in Sub-Saharan Africa, and a waste disposal unit (LAWMA) that works efficiently, as well as state-owned roads and bridges that are even better than the federal infrastructure. Lagos has more public schools per capita than much of Lagos, and they do not discriminate against non tax payers.

And then their public health system is the best in Nigeria. And is now becoming a global centre for health tourism. Ask CNN's Isha Sesay and American RnB singer and dancer, Jeffrey Daniels.

Despite these natural and artificial challenges I previously highlighted, the Lagos State Government has acquitted itself well. But if you feel Lagos is a useless place, remember that, like Maryanne Moghalu of the “Invest in Lagos at your own peril" infamy, you have a state from which you relocated to Lagos. You can relocate back there and leave trash for LAWMA.

A classic example is the Ukraine in 1932. Look it up, it’s called Holodomor. Ukrainian farmers had mastered their craft and were among the most productive food producers in the world. But because government was moving toward collective ownership, and of course government knows how to run farms, better than private citizens, the farms were taken over and the owners, who were the experts, were removed. NDDC was formed based on the fact that, despite the Niger delta immense contribution to the nations wealth,it has been neglected, hence the formation of NDDC to bridge that gap

Why didn't they name (NDDC) Niger delta development commission as SOUTH SOUTH DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION (SSDC) For a wider development.

Since we now have NCDC,NDDC need to be changed to SSDC South south development commission.
