EBONYI CENTRAL 2023: LET THE RIGHT THING BE DONE

Doing the right thing is a wonderful starting point, but we need to define it in great detail, otherwise, people will do whatever they think is the right thing, not knowing that they have gotten it wrong.

As at the time of making this post, it was just 168 days to the 2023 National Assembly election. In Ebonyi Central Senatorial District, the right thing is to critically look inward, and see that there is every need to maintain equity and fairness in the zone. Among the four Local Governments that made up the zone, only Ikwo Local Government has never produced a Senator. And in Ikwo Local Government, the right thing is to unanimously give the mandate to a candidate from Ikwo South State Constituency. This is because, Ikwo North has occupied many other hefty political positions that were zoned to Ikwo. Therefore, as other rational and honest personalities, individuals, and  people from other Local Government Areas that made up Ebonyi Central, have looked inward with the eyes of equity and fairness, and  decided to do the right thing, by accepting that Ikwo should produce a Senator in 2023, it will be a show of greediness, for anyone, who is not from Ikwo South precisely, to contest for Ebonyi Central Senatorial District position.

The Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Frank Nchita Ogbuewu is the only candidate from Ikwo South State Constituency, among all the contestants of the Senatorial position. Locationally, Ambassador Ogbuewu is coming from the place that should rightfully produce a Senator for the zone in 2023.
Academically, he is soundly educated, up to a Masters Degree in International Law and Diplomacy. Coming to experience, he has been a Local Government Chairmen, Ambassador, Minister of the Federal Republic and so many others. It is imperative to note, that with the hefty political experience he has, he can influence infrastructures, employment, and empowerments for the good people of Ebonyi Central. Therefore, the right thing is to give him the mandate, for the betterment of Ebonyi Central.

'The term "senator" derives from Ancient Rome, where the Senate depicts the 'elders' assembly' ("senex" means "old". A senatorial career involves a long-term commitment as a public figure, who has acquired much political experience. Senate is not a forum of boys, who are supposed to be doing well at the Local Government. It is not for boys are still undergoing political apprenticeship. It is not for boys, who are yet to garner influence in the curidor of power, politics, and society. It requires topnotch and experienced elders in the realm of politics, who will take part in meetings, congresses and debates over the creation or update of laws and regulations and votes for or against certain political measures or motions. It is not for political neophytes, whose down-and-out knowledge and exposure in politics will subject to inferiority complex , and thus, orchestrate to low man on totem pole, and sleeping Senator.'

Senate is not a mere placement, given to someone to use for political practice. It is an elite figure that other politicians turn to for advice and counselling, because, it is a forum of who matters in the society. In the Senate, there are several institutional requirements concerning a solemn etiquette, ritualistic, standardized way of addressing a strict code of conduct, but a neophyte in the corridor of politics will not know.

Ahead of 2023 general election, political parties have given ticket to different people, but the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Frank Nchita Ogbuewu is the most qualified. He posses all the requirements needed of a Senator. He has served as a Local Government Chairman, Nigerian Ambassador to Greece, Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pro-chancellor/Chairman Governing Council of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, Chairman, Elders Council of Ebonyi State, and thus, he has enough political experience, exposure, and influence, and indeed, he is not a small boy, who can not match the standard of others when he gets there.

Meanwhile, When we talk about change, we believe it is the duty of our leaders alone to make that big change. But the truth is: The change we seek will not come from space or from foreign funds until we have an individual change of attitude and behaviour. Until we look insight and found one million reasons to support Ambassador Ogbuewu to represent Ebonyi Central Senatorial District, which I am sure that Ebonyi Central must do on 25th February, 2023.

It is time to support a leader, whose influence and effective representation, will go a long way, in Controlling the national economy and secure the maximum welfare, freedom, and happiness of every citizen on the basis of social justice and equity. The 2023 Nigerian presidential election will be held on 25 February 2023 to elect the president and vice president of Nigeria. Incumbent APC President Muhammadu Buhari is term-limited and cannot seek re-election for a third term.

One of the fundamental problems facing Nigeria today isthat, majority of the leaders do not have a clear understanding abouthow to affect the desired changes in the society. Thus, there have been so much superficiality and failure ofchange programs in the society.
Here will be a better place, if the Lawmakers, the executives, and the judiciary are doing the needful. The needful in the sense that their activities are anchored on the people first.

Many Nigerians are poverty stricken and stressed to the brim, because nothing works. Those in charge, often neglect the human side of development. We shall not get it right, until leaders understand that the welfare of the citzens should come first in any reform. It is on this premise, that the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for Ebonyi Central Senatorial District, His Excellency, Ambassador Frank Nchita Ogbuewu availed himself for the good people of Ebonyi Central, to bring the desired positive changes at the legislative organ.

It is repugnant that the country is going down on daily basis because, the electorates are not doing the needful during election. It's disgusting, that Nigeria once landed the third poorest nation on earth. In six years, Nigeria listed thrice on topmost corrupt nations and overtook India and China, and became the world’s poverty capital in 2019, according to the report of the Cable, published on MARCH 11, 2021 5:17 PM.
The dream of great Nigeria started at independence in 1960 on high hopes but now the prospects are drying up. Fear, cynicism, and nightmares prevail!

We all know that a country with 33 per cent unemployment and 65 per cent underemployment is in trouble. Sixty per cent of this unemployed and underemployed are among the youths, the most productive population of the country and in their young age are doing nothing. According to Aljazeera report of June 12, 2019, the National Bureau of Statistics figures was referred, and from there, 43 percent of the country’s 190 million population is either unemployed or underemployed. And despite much IGR, and resources generated from oil, extreme poverty is still common. Some 87 million Nigerians live in dire poverty, according to Washington-based Brookings Institution.

Exasperatedly, Nigeria is still remaining one of the most corrupt nations on the planet. Transparency International ranked the country 144 out 180 in its 2018 corruption perceptions index. This is 2022, and it is not getting better. And if corruption is not dealt with immediately it could cost Nigeria up to 37 percent of its GDP by 2030, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), a global auditing firm.

Worst still, government is owing people pension, they don’t pay people gratuity. Our schools are closed, our universities have been closed now and nobody is saying anything. There are about millions of our children that are out-of-school, the drug prevalence among our youths today is the highest in the world, while on trigger of refusal to surrender to poverty!
Today, where is the National Economic Empowerment Development Strategy, NEEDS, introduced by PDP government to better the life of Nigerians? Unfortunately, the Lawmakers that should have tackled that with a legislative prowess have not done that.

Elementary Government text book will tell us that
Sovereignty belongs to the people of Nigeria from whom government through the Constitution derives its powers and authority. But today, the same government has made the people hungry and poor. What an irony!

Nigeria needs passionate lawmakers, who will share the same view with the candidate of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for Ebonyi Central District, Ambassador Frank Nchita Ogbuewu; a view to make laws that will lift people out of poverty, a law that will give job to the jobless, a law that will fix the economy of this nation, and a law that will guarantee the fundamental principles and rights of the citizens.

When Ambassador Ogbuewu becomes a Senator in 2023, participation of the people in the government shall be ensured through regular town hall meeting. The people will be engaged in the affairs of the nation, and he will attract massive infrastructures and unprecedented development to the good people of Ebonyi Central.

Some were called to be great while some became great by exemplary endeavours. Every great nation did great things which uplifted their peoples and humanity. There is no secret behind making a great nation, except to elect people like Ambassador Frank Nchita Ogbuewu into the position of trust.

Today, Local and world leaders often spoke of great Nigeria. Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe was the first to utter the words: this great nation, Nigeria (November 16, 1960). Making Nigeria great lies in making her the home of the black race: sanctuary or place of refuge, where there is no hunger and poverty, unemployment, economic dwindle, and insecurity. This is not difficult to achieve. The secret is to join hands and support Ambassador Frank Nchita Ogbuewu for Senate. He knows the secret, he has the tactics, and can bestow the solution with a legislative prowess.
