Health / Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by cgese: 10:07am On Jan 15, 2016 |
This is my first time posting on this particular topic. But I want to just say 3 things especially as regards babies. I have 2 kids. My last child is about 2 months. With my first child, I was inexperienced and also I was so over protective etc, i wanted to use just expensive things for him. anyways I've learnt a few things I want to share with you wonderful mummies. 1. Most babies have skin issues within the few weeks/months of their birth. This is normal and it should naturally clear on its own. From my own investigation based on my kids, this skin wahala especially for black African babies is due to dryness of skin, so its good for babies skin to be properly moisturized and sadly a lot of baby lotion we use do not do that very well. So with my last child i decided to use coconut oil which i bought from a hospital in Abuja, and trust me it performed magic. I wish i could share a pic of her skin, its smooth and she is so so light. So mummies like me who suffered emotional stress because of baby skin wahala, please just look for coconut oil and start using, you will come back here and give testimony. PLEASE DO NOT USE ANY STERIODS ON THE BABY,IT WILL WORSEN THE SKIN. 2. I want to talk about colicky babies. That is babies with this tummy upset. My first child showed me hellfire. There is no type of colicky medicine i didn't give him. My kids were born in the US, and i used all over the counter medicine i would get there on prescription from the pediatrician but it didn't work. My mum started given a tiny drop of red oil yet that one didn't work. It was so frustrating and honestly i never found the solution for my first child. At some point i thought it was because he was drinking formula,he wasn't breastfed. Well, that's what everybody was telling me then, that its because he was drinking formula and no breastmilk and that breastfed babies don't suffer the tummy wahala. "BIGGGEST LIE EVER". Fast forward to my 2nd child, i decided to do EBF. My dear mama's,the same story. Tummy wahala. The pediatrician in the US still prescribed gas medicine but it didn't work. Anytime she breastfeeds, you can feel her pain and discomfort. Anyways...when i got back to Nigeria, my cousin prescribed "BONABEBE". My hubby bought it,but when i looked at the active ingredient,i saw that it had paracetamol and it was also for pains etc. Anyways i just decided not to give her. But when the pain wasn't subsiding,i just gave her the drug and it worked like "MAGIC'. Tummy pain disappeared forever. I gave it to her for just 2-3 days or so, and that ended the tummy wahala. 3. Then for EBF babies with greenish poop. Its normal and basically the reason is that the baby is getting more foremilk than hindmilk. Foremilk is high in cholesterol and low in vitamins and other nutrients which is contained in the hindmilk. So EBF mummies when breastfeeding, ensure you empty out one breast at a time. don't be switching because the baby will just be drinking foremilk. Mummies who express will understand. The foremilk is the first milk which comes out,its usually very light like water, then the hindmilk comes on as u continue to express, very milky. "GREEN POOP WITH NO FEVER IS BASICALLY DUE TO BREASTFEEDING ERRORS', once you start breastfeeding correctly,it should be fine. EBF poop should be abit like mustard. Anyways...just though i should share my thoughts with you beautiful mummies. 28 Likes |

darasimi1988: End of story. You just said the whole truth here. Pls my dear friend, just pay your own hospital bill and also the doc's bill as well as any other tiny baby bill, like pediatrician etc. Then ask the hospital to give you a paper to sign the document/contract that you are a self paying patient. You will use those to renew your visa at any time. As for the baby bill at NICU,try and see if its possible to get heavy discount from them but ensure they proceed with the surgery. If they refuse to do surgery(which I doubt), if you do not sign insurance papers, pls go ahead and sign the paper for insurance for the baby. But just make sure you pay all your own bills. 1 Like |

legendsmother: I gave birth in Montgomery as well last year and I had a very very good experience. I used Baptist South Hospital. Though I wont recommend that particular hospital to anybody because it is expensive compared to other hospitals around. They charge 2800 per day excluding all other bills. So basically if you are able to stay a day, then lucky you but if you have a cs then you are in for a very huge bill. |

Hello everybody. Thanks for the info on this thread. Please I have a question, how long does it take to obtain a visit visa. I heard sometimes it takes months. I am considering canadan though I already have a US visa, just don't want a situation whereby my passport gets stuck with the Canadian embassy and I am due to live naija in October |
