joseph1013: We'd still have lost if we played like this against Serbia. Infact if we played like this against Hungary, we would have lost.
This is their worst match I've ever watched. Do you notice that at no time in the game did we string 5 continuous passes. We had no shot on target.
Haba You think this is our worst performance? Well, i don't think so, they even play worse than this against Korea(especially in the first half), they look so bad 2day because Germany makes them look so bad, Germany are a very consistant, tactical and physical team and as we have already find out they are a team that are in form and knows how to score, just like in the group stage where they didn't dominate most of their games but still score alot of goals. While In the other hand our team haven't been impressive since the begginning of this tournament and thats the reason i have been urging our team to avoid Germany |

Birikiti: So sad for the players it ended like this. Well done guys. You go garner more experience and come back in 2 years to win the cup! Garner experience? Do you think this is a senior w.cup? 99% of this team will out-grow this tournament when next it comes(2017), thats if they haven't outgrown it now and believe me due to their failure at this stage of the competition(r.16) you won't remember 70 to 80% of them in 3 to 4yrs time.. It won't have been like this if they had avoided Germany |

dabossman: Serbia wouldn't have been any easier. Football is not mathematics. You are wrong, serbia would have been an easier prey compare to the Germans. This need no analogy, it's just plain. Germany is probably the most consistant football playing country in the world, i just can't understand what gave Manu Garba the impetus to challenge Germany when there is another option of playing serbia, it beat my imagination. Now i'm wondering what will happen to this lovely thread now that this team have disappointed some, cos for sure i already knw that they won't pass r.16 when they foolishly beat Hungary |

Tbaba1234 and safarigirl hope you two have seen what over-confidence have cause you and our team? When i and people like alj were saying it will be better to avoid Germany you guys called us "paper fans" and "cowards", now you guys should enjoy your Germany gbosaa: Avoid what? If you want the cup, you have to defeat the opposition in front of you. Yes it's cowardice to avoid them. Flying Eagles played badly in the first half. Hopefully their errors would be collected in the second half. I hope to see some yahaya and Moses coming in for sokari and bulbwa. Won't you have appreciate it if our team play serbia and make it to the quarter final |

safarigirl: it's an easy group. Nothing is happening other than doggedness vs. Complacency.
One team underestimated the other. Austria thought the Uzbeks are shiiit and failed to prepare adequately. Just as Germany probably thinks we won't be much of a hassle Let's hope it works out the way you guys have planned it, cos, if not i won't be happy with those that said we should play Germany tbaba1234: Their group was easy for a title contender. Uzbekistan was not dominated by germany but they are from the same region as Qatar, Korea and Myanmar. Qatar is the strongest team in that group. The Senegalese should now get to the semis. |

ajf: You see, I'm tired of this. You think matches are won by bravery? Because you think winning Germany is the only possible outcome for these boys on thursday doesn't mean you are a better fan. Why? It's because that is wrong. The better your opponent, the higher the probability of you losing no matter how good you are. Unless you are naive, you'll have to agree with me that that probability of this team beating Serbia is higher than them beating Germany. So, as a great fan of this team who wants them to win the cup and not just play bravely and crash out, I believe playing Germany in the semi-final or final is better than playing them in the round of 16. Everybody remembers the team that finishes 1st, 2nd or third, nobody remembers the team they beat to get there. I know this team is very good. I believe they can beat Germany but I also know there is a possibility of them losing even if it's a small one. I love this team so much I don't want them to face such possibility this early in the knock-out stage. Heck! I may even love this team more than you do! This is exactly what i have been telling many people, it's not about cowardice but possibility of winning a game |

mikron: if u re still going to meet a german side in the competition why delay the inevitable now? we re the african champs, if ghana that came 3rd in the AYC can beat argentina why would u advocate african champs to dodge germany? isnt that telling the world u dont have a good team? i say bring any team, we will do the job. if u must be the best u got to beat the best You said we're the African champion, does that makes us unbeatable? The Argentina that you mention, were they not the champion of their own region? Yet still, they were eliminated at the group stage. When Ghana won this championship in 2009 where they the champion of Africa? You guys should stop calculating football as if is an arithmetics. AVOID GERMANY NOW SIMPLE |

AIG07: *smiling* i 'll be saying something to this after hungray's match. Hands crossed! Believe me, Hungary match have no much value again and believe me again when i tell you that Manu Garba will instruct his boys to play for draw, it's all about tactics, it's all about doing it in a smart way. Our confidence is already dented with that defeat to Brazil, and not even a 4-0 victory over hungary will bring it back cos at the end of the day we will fall at the hand of the Germans. The best way is to avoid Germany play a weaker opponent, win(probably convincinly) they tell Germany or who ever it is to "BRING IT ON". |

BascoVanVeli: So we should all run for cover from Germany right? Even in the finals lets hope their bus crashes is that our plan? If you are not willing to play the best then what's the point. I'm not being proud i just have a justifiable belief in this team thank God for that loss cuz now the boys can sit up. Even Argentina lost to a good Ghana side they were down 3-0 at some point but no one is saying Argentina was over hyped with proud fans who can't face reality, do they not have professionals were they not playing a team with mostly local or academy players? In my honest opin i feel we have more to be optimistic about than most teams in this tournament we have not yet played our best ball and we are still in line to qualify I'm not saying we should be afraid of them, neither am i saying that we should run from them, lol, i'm just saying that it wik be wiser to avoid them at this stage of the competition. I can remember our 2011 set of the u.20 that have Mohammed Musa in their rank, they promise so much, that makes many Nigerians bullish and thinking that cup has already been won, the hopes, expectation and dreams were left tathered after they were eliminated by France. What i'm trying to draw out in this is that our expectation is to high, maybe we're thinking that winning u.17 wil automatically make you a champion at the u.20level.. I LOVE THIS TEAM SO MUCH BUT MY YEARS OF XPERIENCE HAVE TAUGHT ME HOW TO WATCH FOOTBALL WITHOUT HAVING HEARTHBREAK(I THINK I EARN THAT FROM YRS OF SUPPORTING ARSENAL) |

AIG07: i'm disappointed by this kind of post. Abeg no short cut to GLORY. You must be tested n tried before you recieve medals for anyset goals in life even in football.Bring on d german machines. Verily verily, I tell u we got spanners that will untight n split their defence, we got screwdrivers n hammers that will drive in goals... Abeg when this players fully understand each other n gels together, Nations(our opponents) will tremble @ d sound of D name FLYINGEAGLES OF NIGERIA. But to be sincere most fans here are underestimating the potentials in this team... Make d germans de fire tanks i no care. Brazil did more than that @U-17 wc de never reach semi-final. You guys boast more than this against Brazil(which is actually a weaker team then Germany) and still lose. The higher your expectation the higher your dissappointment and hearthbreak.. Enuff said |

BascoVanVeli: How can u say football is not about mathematics then say we should not want to play Germany? I would think being that football is played on the field not paper you would be confident in this team or have u not watched them play before the world cup? They can beat any team in the world so why be scared of Germany i say we get them now before they gain further momentum. Yes!! Football is not mathematics, but never you underestimate a team that knows how to deliver and always deliver at the big stage. It's this same over-confidence you're showcasing, that makes us to underestimate Brazil(some even said that Nigeria are going to thrash them), but cometh the hour cometh the man, we all know how it went.. So broh, avoid Germany 4 ur own good(they surelly knows hw to deliver even when they are playing badly) |

LeeCodeman: Actually, I think we are better off meeting Germany. We already have an idea of how they play. It's going to be a sweet victory for us. They have a very easy group. I laugh when i see people making statement like the bolded. Do you think football is mathematics where 2 is always bigger than 1(i beat you yesterday and i'll automatically beat you 2day), our team is currently struggling while Germany are firing at all cylinder. We might have beaten DPR K today but in actuality we are still having identity crisis(not having a trusted 1st eleven, even the no.1 striker Awoniyi is yet to score) and our performance is still yet not convincing, it will be better for us to avoid them now, maybe after when we might have beaten our round of 16 opponents and regain some confidence, we can then start thinking of playing teams like Germany, Portugal, Brazil, even Argentina(don't write them off yet) |
Sports › Re: Flying Eagles of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (New Zealand 2015) by chaberry(m): 6:54pm On Jun 04, 2015 |
A draw will take us to 4points with a 2goals different, which will be enough for us to qualify as one of the 4 best losers. in such scenario we are likely to meet GroupA winner(likely, USA or Ukraine) or GroupD winner(Uruguay, Mali, Mexico & Serbia are all tied on 3points).. SO, GO 4 DRAW F/EAGLES!! |
