intbizoil:Chairman, can we discuss ASAP on this MMM thingy? Want to register today. I'd like you to be my guider if you don't mind. Pls give me your phone or WhatsApp number ASAP let's relate this morning. Or your contact email if you prefer email. PS: my PM is not working (can't access my email). |
Valobit: Hello colleagues. I want to do primaries in anaesthesia next year. I need relevant and recent materials. I reside in Lagos. Can anyone help me? Thanks.Since you stay in Lagos, go to LUTH, you'll likely get materials from the central photocopying centre there inside COMPSSA. You can remind me this coming Monday, i'll likely go there then. I could help you check if they do have the recent ones- PQs and the Update materials. |
^^^^Meeeehhhnnn!!! This guy's good joor! This is called crashing USMLE! I'm tripped! The guy just cracks me up..... Nice one! |
It really matters. Virginity counts as a minus. |

didigor:
^^interesting info. do you know anyone who took usmle as a med student? just curious.
I know a number of my classmates who wrote (and really scattered) USMLE while we were in medical school, i think 300Level or 400Level, so its very possible. In a way its even better then because a lot of stuff is still fresh in your head. So Didigor, go ahead, settle down and write it, wish you all the best, |
yamakuza:I doubt this would hold currently. I guess it should be in the new CONMESS range, which should be at least 180k but should most likely be more. Anyway, maybe i'll help you find out. I know a few people i could call. P.S: You could post this in the medical doctors forum and see if you'll come up with some hard data, |
@OP, go open a spare parts shop at ladipo market, gives far better returns in a much shorter interval, kapish ![]() |
Thanx a lot. I think I'm very much much above average as regards English/Verbal. I took the SAT twice in 2008, I had a score of 710 out of 800 in the Verbal/critical reading section, and an aggregate of 1920.Got admission, was denied a visa, long story cut short. I know the GRE is a different ball game, but I believe my SAT experience could be of advantage. I intend to put in 6 weeks of intensive study starting today, for the GRE. Thanx again for the hint as regards direct online registration. But I was under the impression that d online reg isn't available for Nigeria tho', will do further research as soon as I'm about to register, hopefully, next week. Cheers. U've got an edge then. Just focus and with lots of practice, you should get a high score as well. Just don't overlook the Maths sha. As per the online registration, so i thought too, until guys told me the same thing here on NL. Just go online, choose your centre and date, and pay with your Visacard. All the best in your preps!
|
Great scores. Even your first score is really great. If i may ask, why did u do another? how long did you study for the test? Did you attend classes or you read on your own? What study materials did you use, as in publishers? @ House, Anybody should please feel free to answer any of the questns above as well. I intend to write mine in November. I want to know if two months is enough to prepare for this exam. And I'll also appreciate any recommendations as regards a reliable agency to register for the xams & possibly get the new revised GRE study material. Thanx house.
How long you take in preparing depends on how good you are naturally in English and Maths, especially English. Why? Its usually the english part that plucks people's eyes. If you have a very good command of vocabulary, you can effectively prepare in as little as 2weeks of focused reading and get an outstanding score. If your vocab is not so tight, its better you take some time getting to know all those them tacky words up close before you go for the exam. This might take you up to 2-3 months of active study depending on how fast you are. For some, it may even take up to 6 months. To guide you as to how good you are and how well you are doing, you can check your scores on all those practice tests in the studypacks and the GRE Powerprep software. Make sure you are timing yourself exactly sha, to get a more accurate picture of your readiness. You can always rough out the Maths part without taking so much stress. For materials, you can use Kaplan or Barron's. Different people prefer different ones, but i think both are quite good. I personally used Kaplan anyway, with a mix of some other funny materials. U can always study on your own, most people do, unless you particularly like being taught. As for registering, better go get a bank's visacard or mastercard, before they scam you. I used a Skyebank Visacard when I did mine. Very straightforward. Get a card, go online and register straight. No long thing. |
mayorteeny:U must be a baaaaadt guys! True, this zone is mainly filled with Engine guys. I'm also applying to public health schools anyway. The key thing, like someone said, is to apply early, especially if you are hoping for some sort of funding. Also, look for guys that can give you very good recommendations, not just any kind of letter, then construct a nice SOP. With your score, i guess getting into any program of your choice should be like drinking chilled garri with sugar and groundnuts . Which schools are you applying to? Are you going through SOPHAS or you are applying to individual schools? |
So Seun tell me, what do you want for your baiday Just name it, and you shall have it ![]() |
I need a battery for my Acer Aspire 4315 that can last me a minimum of at least 4-6 hours when fully charged, guaranteed. Money is not the issue but i need to be sure its going to be able to consistently last 4-6hours, or more if possible. i'm willing to pay what it costs to get it and deal immediately. If you have anything like this, then drop your contacts- phone/email here, preferably phone and i'll get back to you asap. Scammers and 'fakeware' dealers, pls stay away before Amadioha remembers you ![]() |

bm10aso:Personally, i think the market for health consulting is still in its infancy. This means there is a whole vista of opportunity, but on the other hand, there are so many challenges too. Why? Like someone mentioned here, most of the private organizations (private hospitals and co) are either too small or too frigging miserly to hire consulting firms, and u'll need to do quite some work to convince them. There are only a few large ones like the big ones in Lagos- Lagoon, Eko, St Nicholas, Reddington who i guess have the financial muscle to hire consultants. The organizations that can afford them are either government agencies or international NGOs and that will still need some good marketing too. As a result, health consulting companies are not yet well developed in Nigeria unlike abroad. If they do exist, they would likely be a few quiet small companies quietly servicing the few clients they can get, making them quite hard to find. Even I myself, though a practicing medical doctor in Lagos somewhat interested in health management, dont think i know of any one i can name offhand. Most people, (doctors inclusive), dont understand what d concept of health consulting is all about, outside of "health talks, public health checks, vaccinations" and the now familiar health insurance(Hmos). Even I, do not fully grasp the whole extent of the field yet. However, if you can elaborate on what exactly you are looking for (cut out the big grammar), maybe i can help you make a few enquiries, I also believe that wherever there's 'virgin' land, there's always a lot of opportunity, if it can be properly tapped. |
^^ There's anti-magun condoms, got a few of them, can give you one if you ask nicely ![]() |
Not necessarily. It depends on what you want and what stage of the medical career you are in. If its Medical school, it takes a lot out of you - time, energy and everything, you've got to be determined to make it through. But then i've known a number of married women who pulled through. Once you're a doctor however, you can now structure your life however you choose. It could take a lot from you, or not so much depending on where you choose to work. Most women decide to specialize in less stressful areas like Family medicine, public health, paediatrics or ophthalmology because it takes up less of their time, and they can easily combine it with family issues. If u're really after your time, i'll suggest you flee far away from areas like surgery or ob/gyn. In summary, yes, you can have your time in medicine depending on where u work and what areas you specialize in, although it may come with less pay, if you don't mind. Hope this helps. |
Sometime in mid February next year, probably around Feb 10 |
^^ The other registration options are not at all sexy. The phone number given for phone registration hardly ever goes through and when it does, its so marred by interference you can hardly hear a thing. Fax will take a minimum of 2 weeks and mail, hmmm, don't even go there, at least 1month+x with all the wahala, Anyway i called someone today and he told me its possible so i think i'll just go ahead and give it a try. As for Toefl, i think i'll just register for it too, more money but i might as well just do it and get it over with. Thanks for your response, korrekt man. |
Oops!! NL must be playing tricks on me, this thread is a mistake, was just trying to respond to my previous thread. Mods pls kindly delete this thread asap, dont know how to do that myself. |
Sefago, thanks for your response, i've been to the thread, but there's no direct answer to my questions on the page it links to, and sifting through 22 pages of loooong text to find the answers is a bit hectic, given my work schedule, reading for the exam itself, and the short time i have (i intend writing it next week Thursday). I'd really appreciate it if i could get simple, short and specific answers to enable me register asap (tomorrow or next) so i can be sure of a slot for the day, and also know if i should register for Toefl as well. Thanks again ![]() |
wow, no answers yet pls help needed asap, heeeeeeeelllllllllllllppppp!!! |
i'm registering for the gre asap, and i want to register on my own to avoid all these horror stories, scams and dupes out there looking for a maga . The problem is, ets site says nigerians are not allowed to use credit cards, mastercard or any form of online payment, but i hear some bad guys have been doing it without stress. I wnt to know, 1)how is it done 2)is it all banks' mastercards can be used or which ones can be used 3)are there any disadvantages, immediate or remote in using mastercard to register as a nigerian 4)very importantly, do i still need to take Toefl even with my Gre for a masters program(MPH) in the US since Nigeria speaks english as her official language and so my language of instruction for my first degree is english 5)any other helpful info, contacts n emails for further clarifications are highly welcome. P.S: This is my 1st post on NL, i registered to see if i could get the specific, explicit answers as i dont seem to have found the direct, specific answers on all the Gre threads anywhere on NL. Thnks y'all, NLanders remain d best community of nigerians anywhere in the world ![]() |
