That's what Nigerians are interested in ...

1.This is against best tax practices and revenue drive for any sensible government.

2. C of O should be issued at relatively low price.. 100k max, so as to have all property owners into the tax net. Thereafter, everybody will be paying the annual Ground Rent,, which becomes a stream of revenue for the government till eternity.

3. The present economy meltdown does not in anyway support high Revenue drive from the government.

4. The Taiwo Oyedele's Presidential Committe on Tax & Fiscal Policies Review is working on how to reduce tax burden of the citizen, while FCDA is working on the country.

5. This development from FCDA will not stand the test of time.

6. The NASS should be notified and CSO to kill this from the root.

KOGI WEST ELDERS FORUM (KWEF)
COMMUNIQUE ON THE ENDORSEMENT OF A CONSENSUS CANDIDATE FOR THE NOVEMBER 2023 GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION IN KOGI STATE
OCTOBER, 9, 2023.

PREAMBLE

The communique of the KWEF on embracing a consensus candidate for the governorship election of November 2023 in Kogi State.
The communique has become necessary to elucidate the approach of KWEF and how the forum has interceded to endorse a consensus candidate for the West Senatorial District in the forthcoming governorship election.
Hitherto, KWEF had agitated for power to rotate to the West since 2019. The agitation was considered legitimate, reasonable, fair and in the interest of peace, equity, and justice in the state. This was because the district had been shortchanged from the power-sharing arrangement to occupy the exalted office of the Executive Governor of the state since its creation in 1991.

STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGEMENT

Consequent to the above, the KWEF worked with other groups like the Okun Development Association (ODA) and Okun Think Thank( OTT) with similar objectives and reinvigorated the mechanism for the demand immediately after INEC released the timetable for the election in early 2023. The forum consulted with critical stakeholders in the state and drew the public's attention to the imbalance in the occupation of the office of the Executive Governor. At the same time, it called for correction by supporting a candidate from the West to win the election.
To achieve this, the KWEF engaged with stakeholders in the state through its Contact and Mobilization Committee.
The first critical stakeholder to be contacted was the incumbent governor, His Excellency Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, whom the KWEF met several times between 2019- 23 to plead for support in the legitimate demand. KWEF is aware that some other stakeholders from Kogi West Senatorial District made similar visit during the same period.
The forum consulted further with other stakeholders, especially the prominent political actors in the various parties.
The Forum and its affiliate groups subsequently visited the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, in August to advance this cause and called for support of the Presidency towards a candidate from the Western Senatorial District as governor of the state. The forum believed this was in line with the ongoing democratic demand of many people, tribes, and regions in the country who have been denied a rotation of power.
The responses the forum got from the Presidency reinforced our position that there was a need for the West to build the rank with the other two senatorial districts of East and Central to gain power in Kogi State.

CANDIDATE ENGAGEMENT

It was in line with the above that the forum engaged with aspiring candidates for the governorship election in Kogi West and politicians from other districts.
The forum interacted with all the candidates who obtained INEC governorship forms from the West senatorial district, including those who lost out.
The engagement continued at the post-primary elections when it was apparent that there were three frontline candidates in the West: Senator Dino Melaiye( PDP), Olayinka Braimoh (AA) and Hon Leke Abejide( ADC), who were individually considered to be qualified to run for the election on their steam but who would divide the votes against the unity of purpose of the people of West Senatorial District.

THE CANDIDATE ASSESSMENT

The three frontline candidates were invited several times to the forum to understand their preparedness level. The three candidates were, however, bent on running for the election on their own.
It was in light of the above that the forum set up a committee to assess the candidates on essential parameters such as (a) Agenda for Kogi State,(b) acceptability by all the three senatorial districts,(c) spread and reach of campaigns,(d) political experience,(e) political appeal and popularity, (f) Internal party cohesion etc
The forum ensured the three candidates were given fair assessments and ratings between August and October. Internal elections within the forum were held to supplement the work of the assessment committee of the forum.

THE CONSENSUS CANDIDATE

Having gone through the stages of engagement and assessment of candidates and based on popular opinion, the highest-scoring candidate among the three frontline candidates in the West Senatorial District was Hon. Elder Leke Abejide of the ADC.
Therefore, the forum endorses Hon Leke Abejide of the ADC as the CONSESUS candidate for Kogi West Senatorial District in the November 2023 election. We hereby solicit for the support and cooperation of everyone in pushing through to victory the consensus candidate in the 11th November 2023 election in the spirit of equity, fairness and justice, the appeal is most especially to the two Senatorial Districts of Central and East and in particular to the other two candidates from the Western Senatorial District who will remain as heroes at the end of success.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Recieves in Audience, the Okun Development Council led by Professor Michael Ikupolati at the State House Council Chambers
STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE

PRESIDENT TINUBU URGES PEACE AND UNITY AMONG OKUN PEOPLE AHEAD OF KOGI ELECTIONS

… PROMISES TO LOOK INTO COMPLAINTS OF MARGINALISATION

President Bola Tinubu has called on the people of Kogi West Senatorial District to maintain peace and unity ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in the State.

Speaking at a meeting with leaders of Okun Development Association, led by Professor Micheal Ikupolati, at the Presidential Villa on Thursday, the President assured them of his commitment to look into their concerns regarding marginalization and the need for fair representation in governance of their state.

The delegation had expressed their unwavering support for the Tinubu administration and requested the President's backing for Kogi West Senatorial District to have an opportunity to produce the next Governor of the state.

They emphasized that this would be the first time the district will have a chance to produce the governor in 27 years since the state's creation in 1991.

Responding to their appeal, the President told the delegation:

‘‘Democracy is about horse trading, numbers, about conflicts and conflict resolution. I appreciate your leadership and your position. One of your sons, James Faleke, has worked very closely with me and I know about the issue when late Prince Audu was alive.

‘‘But that was the way of God Almighty. He passed on and the arrangement didn’t work and there was a judgement from the Supreme Court that was the last bus stop. That brought about the present government in the State, who is also a member of our party.’’

Regarding the issue of power rotation and constitutional provisions to guarantee equal rights for all Senatorial Districts, the President said he would thoroughly examine the matter of fair representation they brought to his attention.

He recalled the agreement on power rotation made by late Prince Abubakar Audu and other leaders but acknowledged that unforeseen events can impact such arrangements.

‘‘When you talk about domination, I’ll have to dig deeper on the issues. Yes, the question of rotation was agreed by Prince Audu and some other leaders but death didn’t allow him. God Almighty knows the reasons and we cannot question him,’’ he said.

President Tinubu assured the group that having listened carefully to all their concerns on issues surrounding the elections in November, ‘‘he would look into the issues very carefully to ensure fairness, justice and equity but democracy is still a game of number.’’

He charged them to extend love to one another, be patient and show solidarity to other members of the Senatorial districts in the State.

Prof. Ikupolati had appealed to the President to intervene by directing security agencies to ensure a fair and peaceful election process during the elections scheduled for November 11, 2023.

Additionally, the group requested the enforcement of the use of Biometric Voter Authentication System (BVAS) in the upcoming election in Kogi State.

The Kogi West Senatorial District Leader of Thought highlighted that their appeal for power shift to the Kogi West Senatorial District is a reflection of the region's historical support for other districts in the past.

The Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the November 11 election in Kogi, Hon. Leke Abejide, has promised to pay WAEC fees in October for all SSS3 students across the 21 local government areas of the state.

Abejide made the promise at a reception and award-giving program organized in his honour by the South East Yagba Development Association (SEYDA) in Lokoja.

Abejide, who also serves as the Member Representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said he has taken it upon himself to pay WAEC fees for all students in the three LGAs under his constituency for the past six years.

“As long as you are parents and have children writing WAEC, you don’t need to look for any money because Leke Abejide will pay the bill.

“It has been so for the past six years, and God has been faithful. In fact, I have extended the WAEC payment to the Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, which is now being controlled by my party ADC in the House of Representatives.

“Now, I am promising that I will extend the WAEC payment to students in all the 21 local government areas of Kogi State. I will clear all the bills in October this year by God’s grace,” Abejide said.

The ADC governorship candidate urged Kogi people to follow the man who knows the road and has the capacity to deliver, saying, “I am a giver to a fault even before coming into politics.”

The governorship candidate hopeful described the honour bestowed upon him by his people as the reward for being a good person and hardworking.

“I am so amazed and elated by the gesture seeing the huge crowd gathered here to honour me. Kogi people should expect more good work from me when I become their governor.

“Most people believe that when you are a legislator you cannot construct roads, but I did it, and most of the roads and other projects I did were done out of my personal resources.

“In 2019, I made a promise to change the narrative in politics through the House of Representatives, and I did.

“I won my first and second elections. The governorship election is the next target, and by the special grace of God, we will win on November 11.

“I thank my boss, the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, for his total support,” Abejide said.

Abejide also promised to immediately revive Ibro Water and reticulate it to other yet-to-be-reached areas in the Lokoja metropolis as soon as he becomes governor.

The lawmaker added: “This motivation is to write my name in gold like the late Baba Obafemi Awolowo did; a colossus and a great achiever.

“You have to grow people like Baba Awolowo and President Bola Tinubu; the more you grow people, the more you are fulfilled in life.”

PoliticsKogi West Governorship Is Not Negotiable And Is Beyond Me As A Person by chariskoko(op): 8:48pm On May 18, 2023
My attention has been drawn to rumours flying around saying I have stepped down for another candidate who I have never met in life either in a dream or physically! Neither have I had any discussion with any of his associates directly or indirectly regarding such matter!!!

Let me put the records straight that KOGI WEST QUEST FOR GOVERNORSHIP is bigger than me as an individual so as such I cannot negotiate the mandate of the people out for any lesser position. I am the type that my yes is yes so nobody can deceive me into something I know is against my people of Kogi West.

On issue of Muri Ajaka talking with me for both of us working together, yes we are meeting and my position is Kogi West should be given the chance of producing next Governor of Kogi State and that is where I stand because Kogi West has been very supportive to Kogi East in producing Governors since the State was created.

For Fairness,Equity and Justice both Kogi East and Kogi Central should give Kogi West maximum support as a way of reciprocating our patience and kind gestures to both zones in the past and recent times to lead the State which Kogi East has 19 years cumulatively of leading and Kogi Central now rounding off 8 years and it is natural to allow Kogi West which has 0 years to have a bite this time.

I want to use this medium to further encourage our people to remain steadfast in this struggle and remain United to fight the battle ahead in order to RESCUE our people in this perilous time. If we do not do it now there might be no other time and posterity will not forgive all of us.

I decided to make this clarification based on traffic of calls and visitation from concern citizens of Kogi State warning me of the danger of backing out when millions of Kogites are already looking towards my direction to lead the RESCUE mission.

After 7.5years as a Governor, you are just creating a university in Kogi West for Vote purposes for your Cousin Olodo Usman. It won't work, Kogi West is wiser thank that.. what a poor thinking from yeye bello.

None of the existing Tertiary Institutions have received April, 2023 Salary, and today is May 17, 2023. Who's fooling who here.

May God deliver Kogites from Yeye bondage

*A SYMBOL OF EXEMPLARY LEADERSHIP CUM PHILANTHROPIST*. _Rt. Hon Asiwaju Leke Abejide (MHR).__

Rt Hon Asiwaju Leke Abejide is a consistent man of unlimited potential, an advocate of good governance who has distinguished himself as a legislator, business man and a community leader.

Inspite of numerous odds, he has pursued his various responsibilities and roles with great diligence and purpose.

He is a man of unequalled resourcefulness and initiative. A man who stand very tall as a legislator representing Yagba Federal Constituency. He has proved himself to be an effective manager of men and resources.

As a legislator, he has demonstrated to the people of Yagbaland and Kogites that government indeed can provide sustainable quality, and human development.

The trust okun people have in him, through his remarkable achievements to the people, I am indeed proud of his leadership.

Yagbaland remain eternally grateful to him for his enduring transformation brought to Yagbaland by extention Okunland.

Looking back now, Kogites of good conscience can attest to the unprecedented improvement in the Constituency's
Infrastructure, especially in the Education, Health, Empowerment, Employment, Widow's Empowerments, Road, Agriculture, sports and human development that has become a global reference point in Nigeria today.

He strongly believes in improving the quality of the lives of the constituent, Senatorial District, and kogi state.

A man who demonstrated that governance is to takecare of the masses, a caring servant leader, a philanthropist of repute, a man full of life, energy and optimally focused.

A self-made man who attained the pinnacle of success through a dint of hardwork and sheer tenacity of purpose, and highly respected as an accomplished business man, legislator, and a philanthropist of very high standing.

A born leader of today's politics in kogi state. His leadership has set a standard that is worthy of emulation, and his tireless efforts have had a profound impact on the lives of the people.

PoliticsRe: Dino Melaye Unveils Habeebat Deen As Female Deputy Governorship Candidate by chariskoko: 4:11pm On May 07, 2023
Simongm:
That is good to know. Okun people should forgive Dino and support him, because he is our best bet to Lugard house and not Elder Leke for obvious reasons.
In your mind.. Okun is for Leke, Igala progressives are for Leke.

Watch out soon!!!!!
