Start rant.

Okay,

Like I always say, certain people on this thread tend to be overly emotional and clueless when discussing salient issues. Why do you have to keep reminding us that Nigeria don't "deserve" to qualify for the World Cup as if we didn't all watch how shambolic their campaign was? We played terribly in the qualifiers - that's undeniable. The Super Eagles were embarrassing, and under normal circumstances, we have no business being anywhere near the World Cup after that performance. But what I don't get is why people can't see that this isn't about whether we "deserve" it based on our football. This is about the integrity of the competition. I'm not a legal expert so I can't say how valid this protest is but let's make one thing very clear: FIFA has rules for a reason. When you sign up to play international football, you're agreeing to follow those rules. DR Congo, like every other nation, submitted their players for eligibility checks through FIFA's official system. FIFA approved these players. That's the process.

But now we're finding out that these approvals may have been based on incomplete information. If DR Congo's own constitution says their citizens must renounce other nationalities by age 21, and these players didn't actually do that, then how can they legitimately represent DR Congo? You can't have it both ways - you can't use your passport to claim FIFA eligibility while simultaneously not following your own country's laws about who can hold that passport.

This isn't Nigeria being opportunistic. What were doing here is holding everyone to the same standard, because I can promise you, if the situation were reversed and Nigeria had fielded players who weren't properly cleared under our own laws, other nations will challenge it and be ready to die on that hill. So why the **** are people on this thread playing pretend and acting holier-than-thou with this issue? If DRC is proven guilty in this case, how is it our fault?

People say we're trying to qualify "through the backdoor,"... My brother the REAL backdoor is fielding players who aren't legally eligible and hoping nobody notices. If you get caught cheating on an exam, you don't get to keep your grade just because you already celebrated passing. The fact that the match already happened doesn't make the rules suddenly not matter.

Nigeria absolutely did not deserve to qualify based on how we played. Our football was atrocious, our preparation was poor, and we have nobody to blame but ourselves for being in this position. The NFF has been a disaster for years. But - and this is crucial - DR Congo may not have deserved to qualify either, if they did so by breaking the rules. Two things can be true at once. We can be terrible AND they can be ineligible. The question isn't "Does Nigeria deserve another chance?" The question is "Were the rules followed?" If they weren't, then the result should be overturned, regardless of how badly we played or how cynical our motivations might be.

FIFA needs to investigate this properly. If DR Congo can prove all their players were legally cleared under both FIFA regulations AND Congolese law, then fair play to them - they won fair and square, and we should accept our elimination with grace.

But if they can't prove that, if there was genuinely deception in the eligibility process, then the result should be voided.

There's nothing shameless about that. That's just how rules-based competition is supposed to work.

End rant.
DRC made it possible for us and shot themselves on the foot

E no get who dem put sugar for mouf wey no go lick am. Shame ko shame ni

If you need special glasses you see the quality of a player it simply means the player na skrep

Rapheal onyedika na skrep that’s why he sits on the bench of super eagles he’s not better than what we have and mind you what we have in midfield are absolute shites

Bassey came and don’t need any validation to become a starter

Benjamin came and not need any lenses to become a starter

Akansanmiro from his showing he’ll secure his spot really soon on the first 11

Why can’t your so called player become a constant starter ??
Chelle no like Onyedika face 😉😏

On the NFF vs. DR Congo;

“Sporting nationality” still depends on valid nationality under national law (FIFA RSTP Art.5). If nationality is lost by law, admin approval cannot invent eligibility.

Rules must apply equally.

He played rubbish yet our midfield transited the ball better than we saw in most of the WC qualifiers. Onyedika was at the metronomic center of our ball flow in the middle in that first 45 but because he was not flashy, he played rubbish.

which ball flow? The same first half the midfield had higher number of back passes that I almost stopped watching? Nawaooo 🤦‍♀️

It depends cus the Akin I saw play few times in Serie A this season didn’t impress nor convince me enough.

If we are blessed with more quality options in the midfield department Akin needs to do more than he has done in Italy to get a sniff of the national team

why not?….Osimhen style of play will 100% fix into the 90s super eagles team…only Osimhen go bench Yekini for that squad…infact Osimhen and yekini will drag starting 11 with Yekini….three things separating VO9 and Yekini is
1. Afcon trophy
2. World cup appearance
3. Highest goal scorer
Current super eagles team is really letting Osimhen down…

regarding him coming late to camp, he should be sanctioned abeg, cos even when we had excellent players if they do anyhow dem go face sanctions
Yekini became prolific in front of goal during the latter stage of his career

Yekini would hv reached over 50 national team goals if he was lethal in front of goal during the early stage of his national team career

Not necessarily. Nigeria as bad as it is actually respects the law. We have not fielded Gift Orban in over two years because he holds a togolese and Nigeria passport despite being in form. Additionally, fifa an organization that takes over a year to clear west African players with Dual-Nationality were able to clear Congolese players in 2 Months. One of them “Malik balikwasha” was cleared in less than 2 weeks. He was called to the Congolese team on November 1st and was cleared by FIFA at November 11th according to Wikipedia. These are suspicious and could had only happen through Corruption and falsification. As inept or incompetent NFF are or Out of form super eagles, Rules are rules and one has to adhere to such rules or it cease to become a rule
I saw on X few mins ago that Malik Balikwasha’s issue is the most fraudulent cos he got cleared by fifa in the space of few months of applying

Eligibility Dispute: DR Congo Misled FIFA In Player Clearance Process - NFF

By Niyi Busari

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that it has submitted a formal petition to FIFA over the alleged use of ineligible players by the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) during their decisive clash with Nigeria in the CAF playoff for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Nigeria’s qualification hopes have been revived after FIFA opened an investigation into the eligibility of several DR Congo players who featured in the playoff final, which the Super Eagles lost on penalties. The match determined Africa’s representative for the intercontinental playoff, and the result is now under review following allegations of regulatory breaches.

Speaking on the matter, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, said FIFA may have been misled by the DR Congo Football Association during the player clearance process.

“FIFA was deceived into clearing those players because it is not FIFA’s responsibility to interpret or enforce domestic citizenship laws,” Sanusi said. “DR Congo law does not permit dual citizenship, yet some of the players involved reportedly hold dual nationality.”

According to the NFF, FIFA approved the players based on documentation and assurances provided by the DR Congo federation, as FIFA regulations allow players to represent a country if they hold a valid passport. However, Nigeria’s complaint alleges that the clearance process itself may have been fraudulent, given potential conflicts with Congolese nationality laws.

“It is not FIFA’s duty to know the domestic laws of every country,” Sanusi added. “That is why we formally drew FIFA’s attention to the issue and we are now awaiting their verdict.”

The investigation is believed to centre on up to nine DR Congo players who allegedly switched national allegiance without fully completing the legal and administrative requirements stipulated by both Congolese law and FIFA statutes.

While possession of a passport is a key requirement under FIFA rules, it does not automatically guarantee eligibility. Players must also comply with domestic legal provisions and FIFA’s regulations governing changes of association.

Reports indicate that some of the affected players may not have finalised the necessary processes before representing DR Congo in the qualifiers.

FIFA is understood to be examining the matter closely, with possible outcomes ranging from match forfeiture to other disciplinary measures, depending on the findings. A complete disqualification from international competition remains unlikely but has not been ruled out.

Should DR Congo be sanctioned, the NFF says it is unclear whether Nigeria would automatically advance to the intercontinental playoff in Mexico or be required to contest another qualifying match.

Nigeria, meanwhile, remains on standby as it awaits FIFA’s final decision on the case.
