An elderly man was caught red handed this morning stealing from passengers of an Arik flight going from Lagos to Abuja. This will not be the first time such an incident will occur so the airline put security measures in place that led to the thief being apprehended. Arik Air had someone pretend to be a regular passenger on the flight to watch what was going on, so as the journey began and passengers started to doze off because it was an early morning flight, the criminal carried out the act of transferring another passenger's belongings into his own bag. The spy let him finish with the theft then called the attention of Arik staff aboard the flight. The videos captured by Japheth Omojuwa, who was also on the flight, showed passengers and Arik staff questioning the suspect while he denied the allegations and tried to hide his face from the camera. Apparently, those on the flight believed the alleged thief was not working alone as they kept on asking for his partner(s). Authorities were alerted and as soon as the flight landed in Abuja, uniformed men came in and questioned the culprit and it seemed he fingered another man in the crime because, in another video shared, the uniformed men can be seen escorting two men out of the flight. According to an instagram user, police officers in Iyana Ipaja arrested him on false suspicion of being a fraudster, threatens him with robing another crime on him and finally stole 25,000 naira from him. Here's his narration: "Nigeria my country!!! I was harassed and humiliated today by our dear Nigerian police , I was stop at iyana ipaja under bridge where I was trying to mount a bike going to super (Market ) , 2 men stop the bike , show me their I'd card to prove they are police , they snatch my phone and I'd card, asking me all sort of question, After going through my phone squarely , One of them said where you see money wey u dey use raise kids, feed wife and all , I was vex but still keep my cool until the guy said am a fraudster, yahoo yahoo and all , I asked him to prove but all he can do is to hit me and handcuff me, I was drag to elere police station , after serious of argument and all , they started saying all sort of this, They will rope me with weed and fraudulent documents, Atlast they said I should pay dem 300k for bail or they lock me up, I was in pain, My hands are hurting so bad , all I can do is to cry and shake my head like a baby, a rough guy in unirform came to search me, found 30k on me, took 25k and left me with 5k saying I can leave now if I want to!! Nigeria is bad! The police are not helping!! I told them am coming back, They look at me and laugh!! My conclusion is that the hardship in the country turn all this NPF to legal thief!!!" At about 12noon today, embattled Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe arrived at the Area F police station in Ikeja on invitation of the Nigerian police. LIB learnt that Mercy and her hubby were both invited to the station but only Mercy showed up and at the moment there's no concrete explanation on the state of things. Mercy Aigbe declined to speak with journalists at the station and there's no confirmation if the case is proceeding to court as earlier speculated.
