Some unidentified gunmen on Wednesday assassinated an Egba Chief, Moses Oyebade. He was killedn his house at Ikanna compound in the Ago-Oba area of the Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State. The victim, who was the Oluwo of Ikanna, was said to have been shot by his assailants while sleeping in his bedroom at about 12am on Wednesday. The gunmen were said to have shot at him through the window of the room. It was gathered that Oyebade, who marked his 75th birthday in Lagos two weeks ago, was the only occupant at the time of the incident. Other chiefs in the community later reported the incident at the Ibara Police Station, Abeokuta. The police came down to the house and forced the door to Oyebade’s house open and took his corpse to a mortuary in the area. The first son of the deceased, Mr. Oluyemi Oyebade, said he got the news of his father’s death through a telephone call from his brother. He said he had earlier been informed that some unknown persons were trailing his father. He added that some gunmen had on two occasions, visited the house but they could not gain access into the building. He said their inability to gain entrance into the building during their two attempts was the reason his father was shot through the window the third time. He said, “My father was sleeping in his bedroom. The bed is close to the window. As the glass was broken, he woke up to see what happened. He took his torch to see who was there. “That was how he was shot. The first gunshot hit him in the hand. They shot him again. They shot him three times.” Oluyemi expressed displeasure that none of his father’s neighbours came out after the gunmen had left to assist his father. He said he believed his father might not have died if he had been quickly taken to a hospital. He said, “Nobody came to his aid. The neighbours could have assisted him, but they pretended as if they did not know what happened.” The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident, adding that the assailants left a note at the victim’s residence. He said, “Some men went to the house of Apena of Ikanna, Chief Moses Oyebade, broke his window and shot him at 12am on Wednesday. “We have examined the place and recovered a note which contained a message written in both English and Yoruba languages. “The note read thus, ‘Useless man, Onidokudo (promiscuous)’. In our preliminary investigation, it could be a case of assassination. We will invite some people for interrogation. “The state Police Commissioner, Valentine Ntomchukwu, has directed that the case be transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation. The perpetrators will not go scot- free.” Source: www.punchng.com/metro-plus/gunmen-assassinate-ogun-chief/ |

“We expect that the two men will move into the villa by next week since the work in the Vice President’s apartment is not a serious one,” Chai!!! it took the construction company three weeks to renovate our President's wing... Now they say The work in the vice president's (mere commissioner) apartment is not a serious one... ![]() Buhari, Why are you treating Osunbade like this? |
ABUJA — After spending nearly three weeks in the saddle, President Muhammadu Buhari is set to move into the Presidential Villa and commence serious business of governance next week, a competent Presidency source confirmed to Vanguard. Since being declared winner of the 2015 Presidential election, Buhari has been operating from the Defence House in Maitama and has been conducting official business of government from there, having taken over the mantle of leadership on May 29, 2015 from former President Goodluck Jonathan. But authoritative Presidency sources told Vanguard that Buhari was set to move into the Presidential Villa before the end of the week and might also name the first set of top government officials to kick-start the administration, which has witnessed a lull in the last three weeks. Vanguard learnt that the President was ready to move from Defence House to the Villa possibly early next week following completion of renovation of the President’s residence by the company which handled the project. “It is true that the construction company has completed the President’s wing and he is set to move in any moment from now. As at today, it is only the Vice President’s residence that is yet to be fully completed. “We expect that the two men will move into the villa by next week since the work in the Vice President’s apartment is not a serious one,” an official in the Presidency explained to Vanguard. The source explained that Buhari was set to begin naming some key officials of his government as soon as he moves into the Villa to prepare the grounds for the take off of serious work for Nigerians who have been expecting action from the administration. Fashola, Fayemi, others fine-tune 800-page report As a prelude to setting up his administration, Buhari has reportedly handed over the 800-page Transition Committee Report to a trusted team of his associates, headed by former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola; former Ekiti governor, Kayode Fayemi and others to reduce into a sizable and workable document. Fashola is being tipped to emerge as Chief of Staff to the President because of his pedigree as a former Chief of Staff, governor and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. An impeccable source said that it was Buhari who instructed that after all others had completed working on transition report, they should hand over the voluminous document to Fashola to reduce into an implementable format for him to read and take necessary actions. The source said: “Hopefully, from next week, some appointments would be announced. Buhari is a fast reader and he will be able to take immediate actions based on the transition report.” A member of the Buhari Transition Committee, who pleaded anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the matter, confirmed to Vanguard that the final report presented to the president last week was a comprehensive document meant to guide him in taking decisions as to the shape and nature of his administration to bring about the needed change in the country. The member said that what they presented to the President was more of a blueprint and how best to go about it in order to bring the country out of the woods. The member said: “The final report is very rich and we believe it will help Mr. President in putting a solid structure of his government and give him policy direction as well.” Source: www.vanguardngr.com/2015/06/buhari-set-to-move-into-aso-villa-as-firm-completes-renovation/ cc Lalasticlala ishilove |

Not long ago, the presidency reacted to the claims that President Muhammadu Buhari’s age will limit his performance as leader of the country. Recall that President Buhari had lamented in an interview after the African Union Summit ended that he wished he had become the president when he was younger . This made lots of Nigerians to read meanings to what the president said, speculating he might under perform because of his age. The presidency in turn took out time to address the issue this evening. The presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina made it known that President Buhari is an old wine which gets better day by day. However, it turns out that Nigerians are not good with some of the tweets the presidential spokesman tweeted concerning the issue. See some of their tweets below: |

APC goons were busy screaming around that US gave Buhari 5Billion dollars...Lmao Janjaweeeds! |
The United States Diplomatic Mission to Nigeria has said that the contribution of the US government to the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) on Boko Haram is $5 million and not the $5 billion reported yesterday by NAN. NAN had quoted Linda Thomas- Greenfield, US assistant secretary, Bureau of African Affairs, as saying during a press briefing with the US delegation to the African Union Summit that the US government donated $5 billion to the MNJTF. But in a press statement to clarify the issue, the Public Affairs Division of the Consulate wrote: “Yesterday, Monday, June 15, members of the US government delegation to the African Union Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa briefed reporters on the range of U.S. engagement in Africa. “It was widely reported that the United States is offering $5 billion to the Multinational Joint Task Force to fight Boko Haram. The U.S. Embassy wishes to clarify that the amount is $5 million.” Source: www.leadership.ng/news/441061/us-boko-haram-donation-5m-not-5bn-embassy cc Lalasticlala ishilove |
