Without doubt, HKN boss, Davido enjoyed a remarkable year in 2014 as he has so far won a total of 23 different awards in the year which includes the Headies, BET, MTV, NEA awards among several others.

In a recent chat with NET, he was asked which is his favourite award among those won in the year and he said: ‘I don’t want to discredit any award show, I got 23 awards this year but the one I really wanted to get was the BET and I finally got it.’

It wasn’t just all winning for Davido, he was nominated in a couple of awards like The Soul Train Awards, MOBO awards and most notably the Channel O Music Video Awards where he got 5 nominations but didn’t win any.
Reacting to this, Davido said ‘Everybody knew that it was planned, I even knew before the award show but I just had to perform for my boy, Lil Kesh but I knew before the award show that I wasn’t going to win.’

When NET probed further on how he came to know before the day that he wouldn’t win, Davido said: ‘Somebody told that they’ve gone funny and changed the names but it’s all good I’m still cool with them, I have Channel O Music Video Awards that I have won before. So they are trying to say MTV and BET are wrong, basically 17 million views compared to 600,000 views, do the math.’

British singer and song writer, Sam Smith has emerged the only artiste in the world to sell one million copies in UK and US from his debut album, In The Lonely Hour in 2014.

Speaking of his achievement, the ‘Stay with me’ told Official Charts.com: ‘Officially sold 1 Million copies of ‘In the Lonely Hour’, ‘To say I am ecstatic is a huge understatement. Thank you so much to every single person who has purchased my album.’
The 22-year old singer also took to his Twitter page to share the good news with his fans after achieving the new milestone, saying: 1 million albums sold in UK and 1 million sold in America – completely speechless.’

With the feat, Sam Smith has now joined the likes of Adele, Michael Buble, and Bruno Mars who also passed 1m sales figure in 2011.

Patoranking performed the hit collaborative effort, Girlie O remix alongside Tiwa Savage at the just-concluded Headies 2014 and during the performance, Tiwa gave him an up close and personal public twerk show.
The last time such made headlines was when Miley Cyrus did the same to Robin Thicke at the VMA 2013 edition and Tiwa probably couldn’t just wait to copy the same.

Last time we checked, Tiwa is still married to her former manager, TeeBillz and we hope the stunt would have no negative effect on their marriage believed to have gone through some troubles in the last few months.

It would be recalled that Robin Thicke’s alliance with Miley on stage contributed in no small way to his split from former wife, Paula Patton.

The poster has Nollywood comic actor, John Okafor on the cover, portraying Don Jazzy and wearing flamboyant clothes accompanied with a walking stick like the Mavin’s boss.

Afrobeat king, Femi Kuti who recently signed a management deal with Chocolate City has revealed the reason behind his collaborations with younger pop stars in the last few years.

Femi, in a recent interview with Channels Television, said the sweet melody of Wizkid’s ‘ Jaiye Jaiye’ made it easy for him to feature in the song.
He explained that the simplicity of the melody also gave him the needed push in deciding to be a part of the song: ‘Before I started doing lots of collaborations in Nigeria, I was doing a lot of collaborations in France, so if somebody likes your style of music or your style of play, or wants to use you for something and they will call on you. Music is so broad but immediately I heard Wizkid’s ‘jaiye jaiye’, I liked it, so I spent a very little time on it, we actually spent more time cracking jokes because I think that was the first time we met, I had just finished as a judge on Nigerian Idol and wanted to catch some sleep before my flight out of the country the next day, but my sister persuaded me to create time for the song and I did. The melody was quite simple, the lyrics too are very easy to flow with and I knew it was a good track.’
The song, ‘Jaiye Jaiye’ was released on May 2, 2013 and aside Wizkid, Femi Kuti has also collaborated with younger Nigerian musicians like Eedris Abdul Kareem, Durella and others.

Nigerian pop star, Davido is seemingly not happy with Channel O and MultiChoice, organisers of the recently held Channel O Music Video Awards and the just-concluded Big Brother Hotshots.

Last weekend, November 29, 2014, Davido, who was nominated in 5 different categories at the Channel O Music Video Awards lost out in all, a development that he didn’t just expect but which also makes him feel hard done by.
A week later now, Nigeria’s Tayo Faniran emerged as one of the finalists of the Big brother Hotshots and after being tipped to win the contest, Tayo sadly also lost out to Idris from Tanzania.

Moments after Idris was announced the winner, Davido took to Twitter to write: ‘and they cheat again lol.’

Responding to his tweet, Nigerian disc jockey, DJ Neptune said: ‘#OBO na real, lol’ and Davido replied: ‘I just dey observe.’

According to Rap-Up.com: The magazine paid a visit to Weezy’s Miami mansion to see the Young Money boss at work and play. Between his skate and smoke sessions, he spoke about his dedication to music, his epileptic seizures last year, and being the best at what he does.

‘When I first started doing it, you only did it to be the best—not to have a hot song or popularity or for Instagram or Twitter,’ said Weezy. ‘I’m one of the last of a dying breed…the ones who are only about the music. You have to want to be unforgettable. The only other people who I can think of like that are Kanye and Beyoncé.’

It might be the first time he would reveal it but we can tell you that EME’s Shaydee had a long-running crush on Marvin’s first lady Tiwa Savage.

In a recent interview with NET, when asked which of the female artistes he has had a crush on but wasn’t able to speak to about it, the ‘Won gbo mi’ singer said: ‘Maybe 2 years ago, when Tiwa Savage was single, I was crushing on her, I like her and I like her music so so much but she is married now and that is unfair. But that was then though.’
Tiwa Savage got married to her former manager, Tunji Balogun who is better known as Tee Billz in an extravagant ceremony on Saturday, April 26, 2014 in Dubai.
