nateevs: Style of play also is a big factor . . . While doggedness sometimes pays, other times its wise to understand that there's a fine line between standing for something and obsession with futility. In spain, Wenger will be manager of the world. . In England however, you have to be a lil' pragmatic; especially when you need the points. .
Arsenal's style is envious . . Why not spot a youngster like Rooney who understands the geometry of the goal post. Shooting form outside the box is not anti football, it's spectacular. Neither is crossing for a header. Incorporate the few extra things and they'll be team that can't be stopped.
Until then. . . I beg to differ. He would be jobless. 4 years without a trophy woulda seen to that. |

debosky: We are the poorest team in the top 4 when being counter-attacked and have the worst defensive organisation. Couple that with a toothless attack and you know why we are where we are - it might work against the lower teams but not against the best.
Adieu to any chance of winning the league for yet another year. GBAM!!!!! I couldn't have said it any better |

biina: Brady and Manning? Brady is not even close. Top 5 QBs in order: Manning, Brett, Warner, Brees, then Brady. You bet it is closer than you think. At the very least he is the league's no2 QB biina: Its funny when people talk about best regular season and best post season QB. The ability of a QB is not a function of when he plays, rather the post season pitches you against top teams and is more a reflection of the team's quality and not necessarily a particular player. Why dont you apply same logic to other positions and say Fitz is the best post season WR. The only position that feels the pressure is the kicker. Fair enough the ability of a QB can sometimes be a reflection of the team's quality but not always. I'm also not buying 'The Only Position That Feels Pressure Is The Kicker'. Every player feels pressure especially when the match in question is of great importance. The only dfference is that some can handle it more than others. biina: All the hype about Brady is based on the 3 SBs. Brady's post season record, just like big ben's, is more of him playing on a great team and less of him being a great QB. People often use the Pats post season success as evidence of Brady's ability which is not true, as the success of the Pats was more from their defence. As the defence declined so did the Pat's and Brady's success. Brady is overrated as a QB IMO, and that Cassel can win 11 games is evidence that its more of the system and less of the man. When the Pats and Steelers have slumped in other areas, both Brady and Ben have failed to hold up their teams. He simply lost Welker and they got pawned by the Ravens. If it was peyton, most will be shouting that he choked. Nah mate it's not just the rings that make TB great, it's his ability to keep cool and play well under pressure. After all Dan Marino did not win the Big One but he still one of the greatest of all time. Many peeps even rate him more highly than Joe Montana. The Pat's sucess is due to both brady's ability and their defence. Mind you Peyton's team has not been bad either. The only difference is that while Tom seems to thrive on the added pressure, Petyon and his happy feet has repeatedly choked. He has failed time after time to carry over his regular season performance into the post season . We expect great players to at the very least be able to do that. We all know he has his team mates to thank for the ring he won and no way should he have been awarded the SB MVP. You comparing the Brady situation to Ben's is simply ridiculous cuz Ben is a good QB not a great one. It's quite obvious the 2 SBs the Steelers won was down to the defence hence why he has not won a SB MVP. To me that says a lot cuz we all know that the QB has to only have an average game and he'll win the MVP. Least we forget, he has the lowest QB ratings for a winning superbowl QB. |

Tatase: I'm no fan of JT but I think the role of the captain is being overstated. It's not like cricket where the captain helps select the team and the order of batting. Here the captains biggest thing is to be the "c'mon guys" guy and ok to attend press conferences with the coach and ok maybe organize team socials.
Please they're all as bad as each other. I don't think they don't all know they're all having affairs. JT was just silly enough to do it with a colleague's woman. Frankly, to me, the only thing gained from taking away the captaincy is putting him on the same level as Wayne Bridge in case Bridge wants to kick his "assets." If Bridge is in the team, captain or not, it's still going to be awkward.
I'm happy that Rio got the captain's arm band however, he really wanted it. See how Chief Fiwa Gbale (sp?) travelled round the world (i.e. Lagos) in an attempt to show that he's a global citizen and cosmopolitan when the captaincy was up. Please all his haters alleging drug use, where's the proof? He's never been caught! I agree with you in that the captain's role in footy is a bit overstated however you can't place a price on the value of a good captain while a great captain is to put it bluntly irreplacable. |
