This made front page, so let's talk now.
It is very good for the economy to grow. However talk is cheap. We don't want all these paper stuff. Is it too much to ask for tangible things?
Example:
1. Building a system that ensures teachers’ salaries are never delayed at all levels; Primary to tertiary.
2. Building infrastructure. This is the one we feel every day, and the one that gives governments their highest ratings.
3. Solving all these issues with incessant strikes, which is currently at its highest with this government. Government hospitals are on strike, and the judiciary is also on strike.
4. Giving us a clear blue print of where you are heading in the next 4 years. Not when things happen by chance you quickly claim it and when bad happens, you blame it on your enemies and distractors.

Are these too much to ask?

Yes CNN thinks our economy will grow in 2015, which is good. What we now want is what this government is planning to do to drive that growth. Where the heck is their manifesto?

uokocha70
Yes our economy is growing, cos I see the present government policies are in the right direction, all of it. And if sustained, it's just a matter of time before the common man begins to feel it too.

We have been hearing promises for a long time now, but but seeing some of these promises come to pass brings hope. There are positives in agriculture, rail transport, education, roads, the automotive industry, as for power very good also, but just like when GSM was introduced, power will take a little more to stabilize. But privatizing it was successful. Rome was not built in a day. And there is no gain without pain. These are the things that drives the overall growth of an economy and this government has tried to improve them. So it is just a matter of time before we start enjoying their benefits. Had other government done the much that this present government has done, we will be far above where we are today. Insurgency and corruption, GEJ has tried. If he leaves now, let the next government continue with the good from his government and leave the bad. But if he continues, he should consolidate on them, not the corruption aspect of.

The world recognised the growth of our economy because indeed it is growing how and why are we not seeing it locally? this is because the present government is actually facing and working on areas of the economy that drives the overall growth of an economy. But then things don't just happen overnight, cannot start reaping the benefits immediately.
Freedom of speech, the automotive policy, transportation, agriculture, education, power, roads. We must have heard or seen how this government's input in all of them. As we can also see cars are now being manufacturerd or assembled in Nigeria, our trains are back again, in fact so many countries are coming to Nigeria to establish business in spite of the insurgency.

What is there is this with all this now in place the jobs will start growing, living standards will improve, but it can't happen overnight no government will do it overnight. Sometimes things become very bad before becoming better. Nigeria's economy is growing and very soon the common man will begin to feel it.

I think if buhari wins one thing is certain the west would reject nigeria. But the islamic nations would embrace her. We are gradually on our way in becoming a full islamic nation. At the end of the day we would be the architects of our misfortune.
You are very on point. Also the religious extremist air around him has never left him any sensible person can perceive it, and that is why the northern Muslim masses see him as their god.

Wow! I must confess I'm impressed. The issue here is some people just hate GEJ no matter what he does. Now 3 power plants are being built, APC online guys say it's too late. They forget the revamping of the automobile industry, they forget the booming agricultural sector. They have forgotten that OBJ spent 8 years and several billions but couldn't fix benin-ore road, now that road is far batter than OBJ left it. They forget the lagos- ibadan expressway which OBJ spent billions on but couldn't fix it, now that road is in a far better state. They forget the 125 almajiri schools in the north. Now they wouldn't say anything about this train. GEJ has done well.
these and even more. They also forget the freedom of speech everybody is enjoying, which has now given anybody the opportunity to insult him anyhow. This is true democracy, cos during OBJ era you dare not.
Car TalkRe: New Year Gift From Govt : Tokunbo Cars To Cost More From January 1 by chidi01(m): 11:56am On Dec 31, 2014
Everybody is shouting change, change. But we fail to see the change that the present government is effecting in different sectors of our economy.

One thing we fail to understand is that Nigeria cannot be fixed in a day, it's a gradual process to get to the promise land, and all I see is this government laying solid structures for economic growth. We want change but if we put sentiments aside we will see that the change is happening.

If there is a change in government and the new government doesn't continue with the good policies and plans of this present government, it would have failed.

Let's not forget that there's no gain without pain. Rome was not built in a day. There's no messiah that will do it overnight, not even buhari, cos he tried it before and ended up in a mess, which necessitated his removal.
RomanceRe: Can You Marry A Non-graduate? by chidi01(m): 12:53pm On Jul 18, 2013
shymexx: That's like marrying a PEJ equivalent - hell no.

I can only marry someone on my wavelength and someone I can relate to.

Definitely can't let no hick kill my vibe! undecided
i know that what we're talking about here is Univsersity grad., but let's not 4get that an SSCE holder is also a graduate. Because the quality of our education in Niaja has come so low, a sec school grad shud be well educated, refined, converse well, and speak good english, read and write very well. I see univ education as where we specialize in particular fields, not where we learn the basics i mentioned earlier. There4 a well educated SSCE holder can make an equally good and enlightened wife as a univ grad, afterall happy homes are not made with certificates and specialization. Have you seen a univ. grad that cannot speak good english, they're everywhere, well life is all about wisdom and common sense, afterall what we learn in our univties some are what uneducated people discovered. And Dangote is employing us to work for him.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Does Flogging Have A Place In Modern Nigerian Society? by chidi01(m): 11:19am On May 25, 2013
the wisdom of God is beyond the understanding of man. Spare the rod and spoil the child says the Bible, therefore to neglect God's word on this issue is detrimental to any people. We may not believe this, but i know that Nigeria is one of the most morally sound country in the world today if we talk of morality. This is mostly linked to our parental backgrounds of spanking.

The problem with spanking your child is wisdom, cos wisdom is required in all we do in life. A parent should take time to learn how to raise up his/her child. This involves teaching the child to understand good and bad, why the good is good and why the bad is bad. Teach the child where both ways will lead. The child should always be corrected when he/she errs.

But there is a way that seems right to man. At every level of development there are ways that seem right to the developing mind, and if not corrected from wrong ways the child tends to form his own ideologies that may be harmful to the society.

The issue of spanking should come when a child has refused to hid to verbal correction, and it should be done with wisdom, not to excess, and not to create fear of the parent in the child, but through it the child should realize he has done something bad and therefore pick correction.

I don't support situations where parents beat there children silly, even inflicting injuries on them. That creates hatred and fear and might lead to a rebellous attitude.

I think the issue of spanking children in Nigeria have done us some good. though most of our parents have done it wrongly, cos most of our parents flogged us mercilessly without verbal correction first or advice.

Violence breeds violence, thats the case when a child is spanked at every little mistake or always beaten mercilessly with injuries inflicted on him or her. In such homes where children see parent as Hitler who must be obeyed wether they are right or not, the child tends to see violence as a means to getting results and subdueing others.

I support spanking children as part of training up a child. Whatever it takes to save a child from his/her erring ways provided it is not extreme is Ok. Cos we will be saving our society from further moral decadence.
