Bros abeg 4give my ignorance, who are these 'offline information marketers?'
Apart from these newspaper vendors, who again?
Vendors are offline information marketers, as such the law of weekly sanitation does not affect them.
Hmmm......there are other traders who also believe its a waste of time, infact they clean their environs every wednesday evening b4 going home, but that doesn't give them the license to open their shops b4 10am on a thursday morning.

khrisponty: Are we still talking 'Environmental sanitation' in 21st century Nigeria? With all the accumulated sanitation exercises since its inception,Nigeria should be sparkling clean by now don't you think? The true question should be why is our country still the filth district it is today? Simple waste management and recycling nigeria as a country cannot effectively deal with that...You are here talking bout who is or isn't doing sanitation. To answer the question, the vendors don't do it coz they know its a waste of time.

You are so on point
Please this every thursday weekly sanitation is peculiar to Lagos alone i suppose.
OP,.. I hate the whole idea of closing shops. But for the vendors, my guy leave those guys, it's a rallying point for football and political pundits aka i-sabi-pass-you people. You need to try and join the conversation one of these days.. Nice i tell you..even with those selfish vendors who won't let someone have a touch or glance as if Nairaland/internet no dey again.
I so much agree with the last point, they just love the fact that newspapers are supplied every morning, making out time to read it is another thing entirely.

Ola one: A number of reasons, really:

Politicians are afraid of media houses. Imagine a vendor in a given State going back 'home' with unsold newspapers because of environmental whatever. Publishers/editors will be happy to publish negative report about the governor of the State in question.

Also, most of our politicians are not technology-savvy. They are conservative by action. They don't really believe in social media. Hence, they rely on the 'old-school' approach of news vending for breaking news/events. And, they get this only from vendors.

Besides, our politicians love the convenience/'big-man' style of getting newspapers in traffic. They like the 'big-man' style of reading news items in traffic. Thus, the law makers/enforcers are their customers. So, they are big brothers and their newspaper vendors also are.

Good observation there

domack99: They are one of the few people exempted to carrying out their duties during those restricted ours. I believe this law was passed then when TV stations still open at 4 PM, where there were no internet services and very few people have access to satellite TVs. This seems to be the only way where information can get to the populace. With modernization and globalization now, i think this law need to be review.

Let to me enviromental days should be cancelled, you will hate Lagos on enviromental days especially during rainy season.
Business › Re: Why Don't Vendors Participate In Environmental Sanitation? by chigodo(op): 6:15pm On Aug 22, 2013
Maybe because Lagos is far more populated than Cross-River or what do you think?

theoctopus: What is the weekly environmental sanitation for? Have you ever wondered why the whole place is still dirty even with the so called weekly sanitation exercise. when will they stop this military inspired nonsense. Sanitation is a culture that must be taught to the people, not a military style closure of shops once a week. Go to Ghana and Togo and see if their environment is dirty. They dont do this nonsense called weekly sanitation where people will pack out the dirt in their open gutters and leave them on the road, only for it to be swept back into the gutter before the following week's sanitation exercise. What happened to

1. Dont drop stuff on the road, put them in waste bins. Government dont even provide waste bins on the roads and private companies dont provide bins in front of their premises
2. Dont throw stuff out the window.
3. There should be serious refuse disposal companies who regularly come around to pick up the dirt
4. There should be proper waste disposal equipment in public places like markets

Calabar is a very clean city and they dont need weekly sanitation to make them clean.

Business › Why Don't Vendors Participate In Environmental Sanitation? by chigodo(op): 10:26am On Aug 22, 2013
Why is it that vendors don't participate in the weekly environmental sanitation?

While other traders are honouring the clean up time, they are busy with their business of selling news papers and separating violent and aggressive free readers who in the cause argument may attempt to exchange blows so as to drive home their points.

Are these vendors above the law?.........#JustAsking#

Celebrities › Bianca And Others Mentioned By Femi Fani-kayode Should Hold Their Heads High Up. by chigodo(op): 1:53pm On Aug 16, 2013
I’ve Just Been Told That Having s*x With An Igbo Woman Is A Great Accomplishment!!! After reading another hard-drug-influenced-essay by the Yoruba idiot parading himself as Femi Fani-Kayode,Ex-Minister of the Nigerian Federation, I felt there was no need to blame him for giving us another reason why his family members should as a matter of urgency, BUNDLE HIM BACK TO A REHAB! No! I don’t blame Femi Fani-Kayode for having a fun-filled day telling us how he ‘breezed’ through Bianca Onoh before our very revered Eze-Igbo married her.

I blame Bianca Onoh , Chioma Anasoh & Adaobi Uchegbu for being naive or to have rather stooped so low to have intimate relationship with a Yoruba rascal/urchin/idiot whom i’m very sure was on heavy use of cocaine (and still is) at the time!

Were Bianca, Chioma & Adaobi blind to Femi’s madness/drug-addiction or maybe he flashed his Ministerial/Ex-Ministerial portfolio to entice them? This is the first time a former public figure (I blame Former President Obasanjo for giving him that privilege) has preferred to reel out the names of women he had s*x with, in a bid to show-off how he has been able to conquer tribalism in Nigeria or maybe trying to tell others he has been able to have s*x with one of the prettiest ex beauty queens another tribe may boast of, like Bianca Ojukwu (Nee Onoh) of the Igbo tribe.

Some persons have adviced that Femi Fani-Kayode should be ignored due to his MENTAL INSTABILITY but i say NO to it! I will not ignore him because when a mad-man chases one into his house & still want to exhibit that madness there, the owner of the house will definitely react except he doesn’t value his house!

This has taken a tribal angle & its such a shame that many Yorubas have been applauding Fani-Kayode’s spiteful comments against the Igbo. I may not want to generalize the behavioural disorders of even the average Yoruba, but i want to use this ample opportunity to remind our single Igbo sisters that if “He” is not Igbo, He can’t be like an Igbo-man who won’t be so ridiculous to think that giving us some of the names of our ladies he had s*x with makes him a superman, as Femi Kayode must be ‘thinking’ in his fool’s paradise.

Right now in Nigeria, the likes of a Yoruba bastard like Femi Fani-Kayode have proved that Igbo women should think “wisely” in making choices as regards whom they allow ‘ACCESS’ to their much fancied bodies. An Igboman would NEVER do what Femi Fani-Kayode did with the names of Bianca Ojukwu (Nee Onoh), PDP’s Adaobi Uchegbu & the relatively unknown Chioma Anasoh or even women from other tribes. He typically exhibited behavioural disorder of the Yorubas, which is to them, a normal way of life. What a shame!

Bianca Ojukwu & the other two ladies should as a matter of urgency, reply Femi Fani-Kayode’s show of lunacy, stupidity, foolishness, infantile reasoning & utter disrespect for them!

Femi Fani-Kayode consciously & gladly made a spiteful remark of Igbo women & our women should take the fight to him in a very deserving impudent manner! I am waiting for the responses by Bianca, Adaobi & Chioma.

By the way, I never knew men from other tribes take having s*x with an Igbo lady as a great feat… Bianca & others should hold their heads high up.

Bro to be very honest with you I'm not an agent to infobiz, infact lemme tell u that I've never seen him in person b4 but he's not a scammer,if you were very observant you'll notice that when one lady opened a thread criticising infobiz I didn't say a word,do u know why? Though I paid the money already just like someone is also complaining ryt now but as at that time he hadn't send me any job vacancy,so I didn't have the moral justification to defend him but right now I can say it anywhere that infobiz is genuine,I've been quiet all along 4 security reasons but now I'm ready to prove that guy's innocency, here's my phone digit 08168995190 and here is my house address.......6,Zansi close,Onike by Timothy bus stop along Iwaya road,Yaba-Lagos. Those in Lagos can check on me any time any day.....I'm not working for him and I'm not persuading you to pay the 1k but I'm saying it without mincing words that I paid the money and he has sent me many job opportunities infact I'm willing to show anybody that comes to my house series of emails that he sends me on daily basis and the ones that have called me for interview after I applied.

OBUKOMENA: Are u guys sure infobiz9ja does not have agents and multiple NL username?
Just asking cos nobody has come on here to testify anything. Not even those that have paid the 1k.
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Premium Vacancies For Nairaland Job Seekers. by chigodo(m): 9:09pm On Aug 12, 2013
I paid the 1,000 and I've been getting invitations,as a matter of fact I have another one by 11a.m @ Alagomeji 2moro,some people in the house that knows about it knows what I'm talking about.
Lemme say this,infobiz9ja was freely dishing out work placements here and we were all happy praying and blessing him but as soon as he started charging a token of 1k people withdrew, others even went as far as saying he's fraudulent and opened some malicious thread on here.
It is very bad to make such allegation without a proof, thank God I didn't listen to that speculation but I followed my heart, knowing that 1k is even too small to worry about and today I'm happy I payed the money.

pweetymama: @infobiz9ja,what is d source of these and guarantee dat these are not old job opening.@ others that have paid 1k,let us know if any of ur applications is successful.d rate of scam these days is alarming.1k may be small bt wen given to an undeserving person can be really annoying.
