Conclusively, the Force headquarters reportedly said the suspect has been arrested and will be charged to court upon the completion of preliminary investigations in accordance with extant laws.
Meet A PhD Holder Who Is A Cleaner At EBSU And Still Earns 70,000 Naira Only According to Godfrey Chikwere, "Izzi big men, this is one of your brothers with PhD earning 70,000 a month in EBSU." "In my quest to get assistance for Ebsu students at the Presco campus of the University because of the increasing spate of r@pe and robbery at that campus. I ran into this guy's case, he is a PhD holder in Mathematics Education earning less than 70,000 per month in EBSU. This guy's case should be an embarrassment to any Izzi man he approached for assistance but they turned him down. His case should be a shame to EBSU as a whole. This is Dr Enyi onyebuchi Paul From Ikelegu ishieke in Ndiabor community of Ebonyi LGA, Ebonyi state. He got a job at Ebonyi State University in the year 2007 as a cleaner/Messenger. He struggled to see himself through a university education in the same school to the level of PhD in 2022. Since then, they have refused to convert him to an academic staff. EBSU should have converted this man and used him as a reference point for hard work, but he has no one who knows someone who knows another person. He is still a cleaner with a PhD. Under the immediate V.C., six persons from outside the University were allegedly employed in the department he is qualified to work from, but they can't simply convert him. Reason, he knows no one at the top. He has met two principal officers to the current Governor from Izzi and a commissioner, and none of them could help. He can't even get a job elsewhere because he knows no one at the top. Summary of his journey: B. SC. 2013 M SC. 2017 Ph. D. 2022. Generally, if Izzi people don't take advantage of these four or eight years, the four or eight years will take advantage of them."
Ex-First Lady Patience Jonathan Allegedly Detains 15 Domestic Workers Since 2019 Over Missing Jewellery
Former Nigerian First Lady, Patience Jonathan, has allegedly kept 15 of her domestic workers imprisoned at Okaka Correctional Centre in Bayelsa State since 2019 over an unproven case of robbery.
SaharaReporters gathered that despite not being convicted by any court, the workers remain behind bars as their trial has been repeatedly delayed, reportedly on the orders of the influential former First Lady.
Sources familiar with the case have raised concerns, calling for urgent intervention to ensure justice. “Since 2019, Patience Jonathan has detained about 16 of her domestic staff over allegations of stealing her jewellery, without allowing due legal process,” one source said.
According to a relative of one of the detained workers, the arrests followed a break-in at one of Jonathan’s apartments in Otuoke. “She ordered the arrest of all her domestic staff, even those who were not working in that apartment at the time,” the relative explained.
Despite the serious charges—including armed robbery, malicious damage, attempted murder, and theft—there has been no concrete evidence presented in court. “The case has been stalled, with officials claiming they are waiting for witnesses who have yet to come forward,” another source noted.
The detained workers include Vincent Olabiyi, Ebuka Cosmos, John Dashe, Tamunokuro Abaku, Saabi Liman, Emmanuel Aginwa, Erema Deborah, Williams Alami, Precious Kingsley, Tamunosiki Waribobo, Salomi Reginald, Sunday Boma, Oba Golden, and Vivian.
Legal experts argue that their prolonged detention violates Nigeria’s constitutional guarantees of the presumption of innocence and the right to personal liberty. Section 36(5) of the 1999 Constitution states that an accused person is innocent until proven guilty, while Section 35 prohibits detention beyond a reasonable period without trial.
Sources claim that the case has been deliberately stalled in court under Jonathan’s influence, further denying the workers their right to justice.
