The Office of Media and Publicity of Rt. Hon. Emeka Martins Chinedu, Member representing Ahiazu/Mbaise/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency, has noted with concern the existence of a suspicious Facebook account operating under the name “Donald Russell” and unlawfully using the image of Rt. Hon. Emeka Martins Chinedu, MHR.

Preliminary verification shows that the account, created in January, has minimal online activity, limited connections, and no verifiable public engagement.

Notwithstanding its inactivity, it has proceeded to appropriate the identity and image of Rt. Hon. Emeka Martins Chinedu without any form of authorisation or affiliation.

For the avoidance of doubt, we state categorically that the said Facebook account is neither affiliated with, nor authorised by, nor in any way connected to Rt. Hon. Emeka Martins Chinedu, MHR, or his official Office.

The unauthorised deployment of his image and identity raises serious concerns of impersonation and a deliberate attempt to mislead unsuspecting members of the public.

Such actions undermine the integrity of public communication and constitute a breach of acceptable conduct within digital information spaces.

Accordingly, members of the public are strongly advised to disregard any information, messages, or engagements emanating from the said account. The public is further urged to rely solely on verified and officially recognised communication platforms associated with the Office of Rt. Hon. Emeka Martins Chinedu.

Appropriate steps have already been initiated with the relevant platform authorities to investigate and address the matter in line with applicable rules governing impersonation and misuse of identity.

It is with great pride and unbridled enthusiasm that I hail Hon. Emeka Chinedu's bid for a third term as the representative of Ahiazu /Ezinihitte Federal Constituency.

This announcement, has sent ripples of excitement and miss feelings throughout the constituency, and for good reason.

As a seasoned politician, Hon. Chinedu has consistently demonstrated unwavering dedication, unshakeable integrity, and an unrelenting passion for serving the people.

His recent addresses to the APC expanded executives of AHAIZU/EZINIHITTE recently was a masterclass in leadership, showcasing his exceptional oratory skills, strategic vision, and ability to forge meaningful alliances.

I recall my initial reservations about Hon. Chinedu's emergence as a politician while in in the opposition party, but his metamorphosis has been nothing short of remarkable.

His decision to join the APC was a testament to his adaptability and willingness to put the interests of the people above personal considerations.

Hon. Chinedu's assertion that legislative consistency yields greater democratic dividends

Is a truism that resonates deeply with the aspirations of Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency.

His track record of empowerment initiatives and developmental projects across the 24 wards while in PDP is a testament to his commitment to improving the lives of our people.

I have no doubt if he becomes the APC's flagbearer in 2027 general election for federal house of representative.

Hon.Chinedu is poised to leverage his experience, expertise, and expansive network to drive progress and prosperity in our constituency.

His leadership will undoubtedly inspire a new wave of confidence and optimism, and I have no doubt that he will emerge victorious in 2027.

The All Progressives Congress has said members aspiring to contest its 2027 presidential primary will pay N30m and N70m for the expression of interest and nomination forms, respectively.

Also, governorship aspirants are to pay N10m for the expression of interest form and N40m for the nomination form as the country prepares for the general election next year.

The APC made this known in a two-page document containing the schedule of activities and timetable for the 2027 general elections, signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaimon Arugungu, on Saturday.

According to the document, aspirants seeking senatorial seats will pay N3m for the expression of interest form and N17m for the nomination form to appear on the primary election ballot. House of Representatives aspirants will pay N1m for the expression of interest form and N9m for the nomination form.

Meanwhile, House of Assembly aspirants will pay N1m for the expression of interest form and N4m for the nomination form.

It read, “In accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), the Electoral Act 2026, and the Independent National Electoral Commission’s revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections, I hereby present a proposed timetable and schedule of activities for the conduct of the 2027 general elections to the National Chairman/National Working Committee accordingly.”

Reacting to the development, a political analyst, Omenazu Jackson, slammed the ruling class for monetising politics and making it difficult for ordinary Nigerians to participate.

“This is the reason we should rejig our political makeup and approach in Nigeria. We should ask ourselves where the N100m is coming from,” he said.

Apart from the prices of the forms, the ruling party also released the schedule of activities leading to the election.

While it fixed the notice of election to state chapters for Monday, April 20, 2026, the sale of forms will commence at the national secretariat from Saturday, April 25, to Saturday, May 2, 2026.

Aspirants were given Monday, May 4, 2026, as the deadline for the submission of completed forms and accompanying documents.

The party slated the House of Assembly primaries for Saturday, May 16; governorship, Monday, May 18; House of Representatives, Wednesday, May 20; and Senate, Friday, May 22, all in 2026.

It also fixed dates for election appeals, with Sunday, May 24, 2026, for the House of Assembly, and Monday, May 25, 2026, for the governorship, House of Representatives and Senate.

Reacting, another political analyst, Prof Kamilu Fage, said, “This is undemocratic, in the sense that it unduly extends favour to the highest bidder. It means that people without such money cannot even contest. By implication, democracy is no longer by the people and for the people, but by the rich and for the rich.

“It is for the people to understand what is happening now, get their voter cards and vote people not on the basis of political affiliations.”

Also reacting, Jackson said, “This is the reason why we should check our method of democratic approach in Nigeria. Where is N100m coming from? If a party believes in democratic tenets, why would it not sponsor a candidate rather than ask for N100m?

“Some of them have to borrow, but by the time they get into office, the first thing is to begin to appease those who lent them money. The APC and other political parties doing this have literally monetised our democratic process.”

Businesswoman Tracy Ohiri, who earlier issued a public apology to Minister David Umahi and withdrew her allegations against him, has now released a new video giving more details about the situation.

In the new video, Tracy said her decision to apologize was influenced by certain factors. According to her, she was offered something and also considered the safety of her family before making the public apology. However, she did not specify what exactly was offered or what threats she may have perceived.

Her earlier apology had led many people to believe the issue was settled, but this new statement has sparked fresh debate online about what may have happened behind the scenes.

Activist Omoyele Sowore had previously alleged that a payment of ₦110 million was involved in the settlement. The claim has not been officially confirmed by either party.

Tracy was earlier arraigned on defamation charges and granted bail of ₦1 million with two sureties, with the case adjourned to April 2026.

Meanwhile, Minister David Umahi has consistently denied all allegations and has not yet responded to Tracy’s new video.

After 5 days in hospital battling for his life, the one I call ‘Youngest Millionaire’ passed on at 4:00 am this morning at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos where he had been in Intensive Care since Wednesday.

It is with deep pain in my heart that I have to be the conveyor of the news of the death of Henry Nwosu MON.

RT. HON. EMEKA MARTINS CHINEDU RESIGNS FROM THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP)

The Member representing Ahiazu Mbaise/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emeka Martins Chinedu, has formally resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a letter dated 12 March 2026 and addressed to the Ward Chairman of the party in Oboama/Umunama Ward 12, Ezinihitte Local Government Area of Imo State, the federal lawmaker announced that his resignation takes immediate effect.

Rt. Hon. Chinedu expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity it provided him to serve the people of his constituency.

“I remain grateful to the party for the platform that enabled me to earn the confidence of the good people of Ahiazu Mbaise/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency and serve them as a lawmaker,” he stated in the letter.

However, he noted that recent developments within the party have created uncertainty regarding its immediate direction and internal cohesion.

“Recent developments within the party have created a climate of uncertainty regarding its immediate direction. I had hoped that dialogue and internal reconciliation would restore the stability and cohesion necessary for its continued progress.”

According to him, despite exercising patience in anticipation of reconciliation among the various interests within the party, those expectations have not been realised.

“As you are aware, the party is presently characterised by several litigations among factions over issues of supremacy,” he added.

Following wide consultations with his family, leaders of his ward, and his numerous supporters, Rt. Hon. Chinedu said he had taken the considered decision to formally withdraw his membership of the party.

“After careful reflection and consultation with my family, leaders of my ward, and my numerous supporters, I have therefore taken the considered decision to resign from the Peoples Democratic Party.”

He emphasised that the decision was taken with respect for the institution of the party and the relationships built during his years within it.

Rt. Hon. Chinedu reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to the welfare, progress, and political advancement of the people of Ahiazu Mbaise/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency.

Further consultations regarding his political future will be communicated in due course.
