In my considered assessment, the 2027 general election for the House of Representatives seat is shaping up to be *a free-for-all contest.* Anyone who does not possess the political capacity, structure, resources, and resilience required to withstand the fierce competition should kindly stay away. There will be no room for sympathy, sentiment, or appeals to a zoning arrangement that has effectively lost its political force. If *Ndi Mpam* can be denied the opportunity to present a candidate for the Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency seat by all the political parties participating in the contest, then it further demonstrates that there is no universally recognised or consistently applied zoning arrangement. |
This is where an important part of our political conversation may have been lost. As one of my elder brothers rightly observed, there was a time when communities understood the wisdom of investing in one brilliant and resourceful person for the benefit of many. A community could contribute to educate a child, send him to university or even support his journey abroad, not because everyone had to travel at the same time, but |
Think about that for a moment. When Emeka Chinedu gave two mobile clinics, nobody asked, “Where are the mobile clinics of other federal constituencies?” When he executed projects across all 24 wards of the constituency, including Aboh Boys, nobody asked, “Where is that of other constituencies?” When he conducted medical outreach for the elderly, nobody asked. When he empowered |
The Mobile Clinics and the rice are therefore more than acts of generosity. Taken together, they reveal a leadership disposition: the willingness to act, the capacity to sacrifice and the commitment to serve beyond the privileges of public office. Emeka Chinedu did not wait to occupy office before demonstrating that disposition. He had already begun. |
carries particular weight. A serving legislator is already operating within the institution as it exists. Its procedures, committee structure and working relationships are part of his present environment. He can therefore devote his mandate to advancing the interests entrusted to him rather than first spending valuable time learning how the system works. The advantage is also relevant to |
*COALITION OF POLITICAL PARTIES ACROSS AHIAZU/EZINIHITTE MBAISE IS SOLIDLY BEHIND RT. HON. EMEKA CHINEDU* *Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Mbaise Federal Constituency 2027: The People's Movement For YPP* After eight years of representation by Hon. Nnanna Igbokwe and Rt. Hon. Emeka Chinedu at the Green Chamber, only the 4 Cs can convince the good people of Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Mbaise Federal Constituency to send one back for continuity. Because experience matters a lot in the National Assembly leadership. Political growth they say, is all about consistency and continuity. And why other areas continue to produce top leaders at the National Assembly unlike ndi Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Mbaise, is lack of continuity. If we continue to send rockies to the National Assembly every four years, we shall continue to produce back benchers. There is no two ways about it, as everything about National Assembly leadership is about experience. Had it been the progressive ones in Aboh Mbaise/Ngor-Okpala Federal Constituency did not think it wise to send Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha back to the National Assembly for a third time, we will not be singing his praises on the few things he achieved as the Deputy Speaker. I could remember how the short-sighted ones in Aboh Mbaise/Ngor-Okpala protested then, calling Ihedioha all sorts of name. But the progressive minds across the various communities in Aboh Mbaise and Ngor-Okpala persisted that Ihedioha should go back to the Green Chamber. He was encouraged to go compete with his Northern, South- West and South-South counterparts for the top leaderships of the National Assembly. And do you know what? It all ended in praises. And that is exactly why Aboh Mbaise/Ngor-Okpala Federal Constituency and Mbaise at large still remain proud of Rt. Hon. Ihedioha till date. He tried to achieve a lot within his third term, as the Deputy Speaker. He brought Mbaise nation to limelight. Ndi Mbaise would not have produced such principal position at the National Assembly, if not for consistency and continuity. If those who fought Rt. Hon. Ihedioha's third term shut their mouths up at the end. But since then, the light of political growth has been totally off in Mbaise; while Lawmakers from other areas continue to grow in experience and leadership due to continuity and consistency. As a matter of fact, the pull-him-down syndrome in Mbaise politics has continued to cause us more harm than good. The spoilers and sellouts among us do not want our own to grow. Rather, they prefer to support and promote outsiders than their own. Ndi oka mma n'ama! Everything in Mbaise politics has been about unnecessary propaganda, blackmail, and backbitting. Mbaise as a nation cannot be proud of top politicial leaders across the various political parties in Nigeria. Some of us always want anyone who has reached Abuja or Douglas House to come back. They will prefer to support outsiders than their own. When exactly do we dream of another Mbaise son in top position, both at the National Assembly, if we continue to send rockies? Have you wondered why Mbaise have not produced another top politicial leader after Rt. Hon. Ihedioha? It is simply because, we do not always support our own to grow. No part of Imo State backbit their like us. Go round the country to check how others, especially the North, South-West and South-South always try to return their experienced Lawmakers, just for the juicy positions at the National Assembly. But we continue to deceive ourselves due to I-too-know and lack of knowledge. A word is enough for the wise. Ndi Ahiazu/Ezinihitte and Mbaise at large should have a rethink. Continuity and consistency are KEY political growth. 2027 is not time for another experimentation. Let's maintain an old broom that knows every corner of the house. Rt. Hon. Emeka Chinedu remains a man Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Mbaise Federal Constituency and Mbaise at large should not lose in politics. He is Capable. He has the Character. He has the Capacity. And he is Competent. Only progressive minds will understand this. You do not know the value of what you have, until you lose it. 2027 is not for experimentation! Let us fully support him!! The coalition of various political parties across Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Mbaise Federal Federal are solidly behind him. |
THE VALUE OF CURRENT EXPERIENCE: THE EMEKA CHINEDU FACTOR In every election, experience is often reduced to a line on a candidate’s résumé before attention turns to personality, popularity and political organisation. THE POLITICS OF THE RECORD: THE EMEKA CHINEDU FACTOR. In politics, everybody has a story to tell. Every candidate has promises, and every election produces a new vocabulary of what ought to be done. There is one question every electorate should ask when considering the replacement of an experienced and performing public office holder: WHO PAYS FOR THE LEARNING CURVE? When a new person enters the National Assembly, he does not arrive with four or eight years of institutional experience |
THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER AS IT CONCERNS THE 2027 ELECTION FOR AHIAZU/EZINIHITTE FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY* 6 September 2026* The reason I have consistently maintained that the zoning arrangement for the Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency seat is effectively dead is because the political realities on the ground no longer support its continued enforcement. Anyone who supports a candidate from *Ahiara* for the House of Representatives seat, therefore, has no moral or political basis |
WHEN A CONSTITUENCY HAS A RECORD TO REMEMBER: THE EMEKA CHINEDU FACTOR* An election is often presented as a choice between candidates. But when a sitting representative seeks a renewed mandate, the choice is not made on names alone. The electorate is also called upon to weigh a record: what a mandate has produced, how |

Emeka Chinedu returned to the contest. His reemergence has done more than add another name to the race; it has altered the conversation, unsettled existing calculations and stirred fresh questions about political relevance. That reaction is not difficult to understand. In an election, a candidate’s significance is shaped not only by what he promises to do, but also by what the people remember, the confidence his record inspires, the attention his presence commands and the influence he has accumulated over time. Elections are therefore contests not only over promises, but |
And that, in itself, is revealing. Political relevance is rarely established by self declaration; it is exposed, often inadvertently, by the behaviour of others. Politicians who carry little consequence are rarely subjected to sustained attention. They are simply ignored. Emeka Chinedu has received the opposite treatment. His name continues to surface at the centre of the conversation because there is substance behind it: history, experience, visibility and a record built over time. |
We have repeatedly withdrawn our representatives from the National Assembly just when they are beginning to attain the level of experience and influence necessary to compete effectively on the national stage, largely because of rigid and outdated interpretations of zoning arrangements. By doing so, we continually interrupt the political development of our own people. |
During the COVID-19 crisis, when ordinary economic activity was severely disrupted, food and medical support were provided to constituents. In December 2025, two trailer loads of rice were provided, one for Ahiazu Mbaise and the other for Ezinihitte Mbaise, and handed over to the Ezuruezu leadership for distribution. These are not presented as proof that every need has been met. They are evidence of what representation has produced. |

And let this be absolutely clear: this is not an argument that anyone should remain in office forever. Public office is not personal property, and no individual should be entitled to it indefinitely. There is a difference between replacement and premature replacement. There is also a difference between rotation that serves a community and rotation that merely satisfies individuals. The advantage is also relevant to constituency development. Federal projects are provided for through the federal budget and implemented through the Ministries, Departments and Agencies responsible for them. A constituency need must be properly presented, pursued through the relevant structures and followed through the institutions responsible for implementation. Appropriation is not execution. Something has shifted in the political atmosphere of Ahiazu and Ezinihitte since Rt. Hon. Emeka Chinedu returned to the contest. His reemergence has done more than add another name to the race; it has altered the conversation, unsettled existing calculations and stirred fresh questions about political relevance. That reaction is not difficult to understand. |
That is precisely why the incumbent’s record deserves to be considered on its own terms. What he brings to this contest is not merely another collection of campaign promises. He comes with experience already acquired in the National Assembly, a working knowledge of governmental processes, institutional relationships built through service, familiarity with the constituency and a practical understanding of representation that extends beyond the language of manifestos. These are not capacities assembled for an election. They were acquired before this contest began. |
