Education / Re: Tips To Stay Awake While Studying by Chinyxboy(m): 12:30am On Feb 11, 2012
Great post. For me, staying awake while reading takes alot of self conduct (descipline). There are some students that can't read up to 2hours on a stretch. While some can read up to 5hours without stopping for even a rest.

We are all different in our own ways. The general truth is to understand yourself very well. Do not compare yourself to some one who could read for 5hours without stopping if you can only afford to read for 2hours. Don't force yourself to read when you are tired. You are likely to remember 5% of what you read when you're tired. Get a rest, stol arround, eat well and be nice to your body.
Take care!
Education / Re: Why Do Candidate Still Fail Jamb? by Chinyxboy(m): 12:18am On Feb 11, 2012
Many candidates fail to gain University Admission through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) due to a lack of understanding of government policies on admission and lack of adherence to test instructions, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said.

There are so many reasons that will make a student to fail JAMB. Most of these reasons are caused by the students themselves. The JAMB registrer made it crystal clear on 'why candidates fail JAMB'. Visit- http://www.nigeriascholar.com/2011/12/jamb-why-candidates-fail-to-gain.html for full details on this. Believe me, you will like it.

Education / Re: Breaking News! ASUU Suspends Strike. by Chinyxboy(m): 5:24pm On Feb 03, 2012
We thank God that the ASUU strike has finally being called off, but despite this action carried out by the academic union, Nigerians still have alot of questions lying down inside of them. The might want to ask if this strike will be the end of academic strikes in the future? Well, ASUU has not disclosed it decision on this or if all the demands they have being fighting for has been granted by the FG, but we do know one thing; the strike has been suspended. It will be too early to start forgeting the occurence of another strike by the academic union in the future. All we pray is that, the FG and ASUU should solve what ever differences they may have without going on another strike action. This strike, judging from the just called off strike clearly indicate the extend of damage such a thing will do to our educational system if alowed to continue in this manner. We all most understand that strike is not a good thing for a nation and it should be a last resolt for any dispute or disagreement resolution.
Take care all. From NigeriaScholar- Bringing Out The Scholar In You.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended registration for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) from February 2 to March 4, 2012.

The Public Relations Officer of JAMB, Mr. Timothy Adedeji, told LEADERSHIP on phone that the shift was to give students the chance to conclude their registration without any hitches.

The examination, according to him, would take place on March 24, 2012.

Latest information reaching us here at NigeriaScholar clearly indicates that the Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) has finally put an end to her two months old strike embacked on the 5th of December, 2011.

The source of this information is very reliable. Complete details about this suspension as not yet being made by ASUU or the FG, but it was clearly noted on the ASUU Twitter page that the strike as being suspended and Lectures were directed by the Academic Union, (ASUU) to go back to the class room.

Letter: On ASUU strike
Ewebiyi James
SIR: I read with utter dismay the baseless statements made by some students accusing the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of being selfish, stubborn and inconsiderate in the current move to resolve the two-month old dispute with the Federal Government.

I wish to state that when other means of negotiation have been used without success, the only option left to workers is strike. These other means have never worked with the Nigerian government. Let us not forget that ASUU has been on this struggle for over five years now and the government has been foot-dragging all this while.

Public universities were shut down for four months in 2009 over this same issue. Let us not also forget that ASUU embarked on a warning strike last year and later gave the government a two-month ultimatum before they embarked on an indefinite strike. The truth is that the only language Nigerian government understands is strike.

Workers have to embark on strike to have their demands met. In the words of Martin Luther King Jnr "Freedom is never willingly given by the oppressor, it must be demanded and fought for by the oppressed". Under this present system, workers will continue to down tools to get government's attention. More so, the demands of ASUU are in the interest of students because if these demands are fully met, it will reposition the university system.

The demands include adequate funding, genuine autonomy, academic freedom and better conditions of service. We need a government that is more responsive to the needs and aspirations of the poor and working people. Labour unions, civil society, students, artisans etc. should begin the process to form a poor and working peoples' party that will wrestle power from the capitalist thieving ruling elite in the coming election in order to effect the socialist transformation of our dear country.

Ewebiyi James,
Lagos.
Education / Re: We Wont Call Off Strike Until Our Demands Are Met - ASUU President by Chinyxboy(m): 10:44pm On Jan 23, 2012
After going through most of your posts, i realise we are all trying to say the same thing. ASUU and the FG should see this strike as a delay eating into most students future. I have friends who are final year medical students of Uniben. This strike is taking there academic program to 10 years. Nairalandrs, this is not right. I want to use this medium to plead with the parties involve in this strike to please help this innocent Nigerian students. It's a shame my people. Let us face it.

Greet info man. This is really wonderful and a heart sourced information. From the charts, i undertood that the number of University Admission into Nigerian Universities keeps on increasing. That is why JAMB keeps on recording a large and increase of Nigerian Universities Admission Seekers. This also shows that we love Education in our country. Greet info once again.

English gramatical errors is kind of inevitable sometimes when effective communication is needed. A good communicator understands that gramatical errors are needed sometimes. So, when you make a gramatical error don't worry, it only shows u're human.

Education / Re: How To Pass Your Exams-by Tayo Demola by Chinyxboy(m): 11:37pm On Dec 29, 2011
This is a great post. When it comes to passing WAEC, NECO and even JAMB in flying colors, one has to understand the basic rules guiding that examination body. The truth is that, the way you prepare for JAMB is kind of different to the very way you prepare for WAEC. We do have this difference due to the fact that we are talking of two different exam body. The way JAMB questions are set is not the same way WAEC or NECO exam questions are set. They all have different approach methods. In knowing the secret to pass JAMB and maybe WAEC or NECO, i will like you guys to read up this post for further clarification on this matter: http://www.nigeriascholar.com/2011/10/how-to-pass-jamb-and-post-jamb.html. Hope this helps?

Education / Re: Senate Moves To Stop Post-UME Tests by Chinyxboy(m): 4:46pm On Oct 15, 2011
I think the Post-utmeshould be abolished since it's just a waste of time. Time were students should be expecting their admission status, they will be using that to travel long distance to go write one Post-utme or the other. Most of these students might lost their lifes, some, after all the stress, time spent and money, they will still not be admitted. This is unbearable and totally unacceptable. I want it to be abolished, FINAL.
