VIN for all it's worth |
Hi everyone, I killed off laughing octopus last night. However, a curious thing happened. I used a RPG on the laughing fool but she didn't die. Any reason why this happened? Finally got her with my operator but the bitch nearly strangled Yeah. The game is awesome (certainly the best I ever played) and I only just got started. |
A game is a game. Chess is no different. Yes I like chess. Played a lot when I was in school and had more time. Now, I play the odd game. As for favorite pieces, you must be new to the game because as any seasoned chess player knows, you can't get attached to any of the pieces. Why? Because therein lies a weakness. If I played you for instance knowing your preference for knights, my first mission would be to force you into exchanges that take the knights off the board. With your favourite pieces gone, your enthusiasm for that particular game will quickly wane. Anyway, it will be nice to meet other chess players in this forum. Maybe we can play corresponsdence chess here without pressure - i.e. we both set up our boards and play a move or two a day. |
Though the auto section is mostly self-moderated, it still does require a moderator for the times when the auto mode is off or jammed and Siena is as good as they come. |
@Dranoel, Are you saying all the agitation currently coming from the Niger Delta is not serious enough? |
@ Nigeria1 Enough already with the maps and the nonesense about Ondo state oil. Abi u wan hijack this thread? stick to the topic abeg. @ topic, Meanwhile, the truth of the matter is that all the regions have become lazy. Even the people of the ND cannot survive without oil revenue and they're the laziest of the bunch. Those who consume the oil are already looking for alternative fuel. The day they perfect it, the S**t will really hit the fan. As for the Northerners, they act as if they're always at war with the south and never take anything lying down and always generating tension. Must they react the way they did? How does the comment made by one person from the south merit a communique from the 19 governors of the North? The North reminds me of the soviet union back in the days of the cold war. What they had, they flaunted and what they didnt have, they made up for with properganda, misdirection and deception. They showed a hard exterior to the world while their people were slowly sinking into poverty. If this debate goes on long enough I bet there will be mass riots in the North that will target southerners just to show that the North can still do something. |
@ Iukpe, Lets hear what you have. |
@ poster, If you want to gain milage here, better show us pictures. A lot of people who visit this forum (myself included) will not believe jack about what you're saying unless you post pictures and provide VIN numbers. The ball is in your court. |
Like has been said elsewhere on this thread, striking a balance is key. For public schools, I believe the high student/teacher ratio makes it imparative that canning be used as a corrective tool (for such offences as: failing to do your homework, truancy, lateness, absenteesm,e.t.c) as it is usually quick and straight to the point. The sheer number of students makes mentoring, counciling and other corrective methods impractical. The poor salary and conditions of service and unconducive environment for teaching is what makes striking the balance impossible. Private schools have a better ratio and the teacher can pay more attention to each kid and mentor and council them. My children attend a private school and canning is allowed but is not rampant as in public schools. I also know some private schools where only the head teacher is allowed to flog wrongdoers. I attended public schools (primary and secondary). I was canned on several occassions in both institutions. Did I turn out okay? - Well, yes! Did it do me any good? - I'ld say it sure made me not to be lazy with my school work. Having said all that, now that I have kids of my own, I apply the cane therapy once in a while (after repeated warning and only on principle). I've never canned by kids for breaking or spoiling things. But for lying, stealing, allowing strangers to buy them things (after they've been warned against such), ooooooh yes!! It works if applied correctly. |
@Faoni, Thanks man. The link does work (following your instructions) Nice cars. reasonable asking prices too |
The link does not open. I have seen others complain of the same thing on the other cars you are putting up for sale. If you want to record any sales, I suggest you work on the link first. As it is now, NOBODY IS SEEING THE CARS. |
@ Donprex, Check your mailbox and get back to me on the issues raised. I await your reply |
Sly Please help me check this VIN: JN1CA31D2YT719244 Thanks in advance. |

@ Fotodady, I drive a 2001 VW passat. I'm also interested in knowing your mechanic. This is not to scare the poster. My car is ok. Have used it since 2006 without major issues. My email address is chimann2000@yahoo.com so you can flow his number. |
Is any car dealer in Nairaland interested in Trade - Ins? You know, drive in your car, take another and pay the difference between the values of the two cars. Apart from the dealers in nairaland, are there any car dealers in Nigeria who render this service? |
This man, u no know say u go tell us the asking price for each vehicle abi we go beg u seperately for that one? Meanwhile, the photo of the FJ cruser looks like it was lifted from the brochure. U sure say una get all these cars? Oya tell us the prices sharp, sharp. |
@ nkc, Having this conversation is very useful. Thanks. About going to VW in Nigeria, I went to them when I first noticed the check engine light. They told me they couldn't address my problem because the car was American spec. I guess I will begin a very delligent search for an exhaust expert for the job at hand. |
@ NKC Thanks for the offer. Now to your questions: I bought the car in Sept 2006 and have been driving it ever since. I do a minimum of 32 miles daily as I comute daily to V/I and back. When I bought the car, the odometer read 15,000 miles. However, when I did a VIN check here on Nairaland, the carfax report said the last reported milage was 115,000 miles. Anyway, the check engine light started blinking after I had added 3,000 miles to the odometer reading i.e arround February 2007. It will be really helpful if you can refer me to the guy who removed your cat. I don't want any trial and error on my car. Meanwhile, someone said that fuel consumption worsens when the cat is removed. Any truth in that? |
@ NKC and siena I drive a 2001 VW passat American spec. I've had problems similar to those described by u and Siena on this thread. My check engine light wont go off. On speed, the car appears to misfire frequently and I think there has been loss of power though I'm not sure by how much. A check on the manual says when the check engine light blinks, it means that cat is damaged. Mine blinks, remains steady for about a week or two, goes off for a day or two, resumes blinking and stays on for another couple of weeks. And the cycle repeats. Since you've fixed this problem before, where can I take the car (in Lagos) for this to be fixed/ have the cat removed? |
dionann:What I see above is a claim. An un-researched claim. If your intention was to generate debate about alternative fuel, you have a funny way of doing so. For your information, the link you provided was asking people to pay $49.95 to buy a device that reduces fuel consumption. All I did was provided a link that shows the claim for what it is - a hoax. So much for diseminating information. |
@ dionann, Have you tried this device? I don't think so. Please research your claims before you mislead others. Check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water-fuelled_car |
@ jenju Those prices are too rich for my blood. Was hoping to buy for the wife. I guess I'ld get her a new hyundai santafe or a Tucson for less. But thanks all the same. You were prompt and straight. I appreciate that. As for the name, the only thing I was expecting to be 'cheap' was the car. |
@ jenju I don't mind the manner of shipment. However, I will not accept a damaged or vandalized vehicle. Meanwhile, preferred colour is black. |
@ jenju, Here goes: Year: 2005 Seats Cloth Milage 50,000 miles (max) Wheels Alloy CD player - Must have AC - Factory Transmission - Automatic Third row seats - yes Windows and mirrors - Automatic Keyless entry - yes Looking forward to hearing from you soon. |
@ Jenju Give me a quote for a clean, fully loaded 2005/2006 Toyota Highlander. I'll take delivery in Lagos after you've done the clearing. Please give me a response here. I want other Nairalanders to air their views if they want to. |
@ photodaddy, I just sent you an email. Once again thanks. |
@ fotodaddy, Thanks a mil for your detailed response. Pls give me your friend's contact details or phone number. The car is a 2001 VW passat. |
