cant believe i missed dis VW thread, i am sorry my bro I WOULD ADVICE U GO FOR D PASSAT, if u follow laid down rules in d manual of yur vw, eg . using a particular coolant, then one day, u dont have money, then u add a diffrent type on top of d one there, without flushing d old one, ur car will either overheat, have clogged pores and d thermostat can be sticky, , ( just simple thing u see what ir does, but when u follow rules as said in d manual, u will be happy, quote me. ASK ANY QUESTION AGAIN, I AM HERE FOR U |
Re: Auto Gurus On Nairaland: Please Advice.! by sas11: 3:09pm On Jun 05, 2008 |

after speaking with those that matter in d original parts for d vw kingdom, fronts are 10k each making 20k for both and back is 7k each making 14k for back, meaning total 34k. for brand new original parts from vw weisbaden germany, no body should provoke me again oh. and mind u this prices i have not priced like crayfish woman, if i do 32k or 33k or even 31k is acheivable AND ITS SOLD IN SINGLE'S IF U WANT ITS SOLD IN HALF'S OF D SINGLES |

Re: Auto Gurus On Nairaland: Please Advice.! by fotodaddy: 10:47am On Jun 06, 2008 |
icemann: AND earthrealm: Black man!!!! Na wah for una !!!! Why we no go use common sense judge matter How can shocks cost over 20% of the cost of a car? Even if na classic car My guy sas11, I have used passats for over 6 years now and I have passed through 4 different models. They are not only more cost effective to run than the equivalent japanese cars but offer you germany build quality that is unsurpassed. I can tell you two things about the spares: 1. Sourcing parts locally is simply a matter of knowing where to go. For example, everyone knows that for Honda parts the best deal is in oyingbo in lagos. If you go anywhere else or your mechanic senses that you are a mugu, he will clean you out!! 2. Cost of parts in the US and Europe is very different from cost of the same parts in Naija. I had to change my cylinder head about 2 years ago and I got it , brand spanking new in Naija, for 40% the list price in Europe. But then again there was a small plastic hood opener but that was being sold here for about 3k which I got in Europe of 2.5euro. so there you go. When you buy your passat, I will be very glad to hook you up with my parts supplier, (who even delivers to my office) and my mechanic, who is the only one, apart fro my wife, that Ican give my car to and not thing about it. Forget the bad belle people!! And if you are in Lagos, I can let you drive my passat, which is a diesel, and it will turn you into a beleiever, instantly. God pass them. |

Re: Auto Gurus On Nairaland: Please Advice.! by icemann(m): 11:12am On Jun 06, 2008 |
@ fotodaddy Dont get me wrong VW is a good car, but if he cant afford the maintainance he should settle 4 a less expensive to maintain car. if he can afford to maintain a VW then go 4 a BENZ that is more reliable. The cost of maintainance is the same 4 both cars |
Re: Auto Gurus On Nairaland: Please Advice.! by fotodaddy: 11:24am On Jun 06, 2008 |
@iceman, I didnt get you wrong. The issue here is not if a car is good or not but the cost of maintenance. If VWs are unreliable, bad or have a high running cost, you can be sure that they would not be on the road today and the factory would have folded up. I personally have also had 2 MBs and I cannot say the cost of mainteneance is the same as my VWs. |
Re: Auto Gurus On Nairaland: Please Advice.! by icemann(m): 12:17pm On Jun 06, 2008 |
what i want to say is: if u want to go 4 a car go 4 the best u can afford and maintain the best cheap cars are the japanees honda and toyota the best europen cars are benz and bmw and america am not sure All depends on his pocket 4 purchase and his income 4 maintainance |

For all concerned, my mechanic is called Tunde, (08023786254) and my Part seller is Chibogu (08033229691). You can tell them the man with the Blue Diesel Passat in Alausa gave you the details. All the best. |

@FOTODAADDY, thanks 4 the rebuttal, the amt i quoted 4 the shocks was the amt, a pal of mine who drives a 2003 passat me, so from what u said, seems he was duped or something, guess that thing scared me off passats, cos i love vw, n the diesel passat/bora are just off the hook n quite cheap too |

earthrealm: Diesel is now 145. And from what I have seen, they are more expensive than the equivalent petrols (mile for mile) |
