Christianity Etc › Pastor Says Teenage Girl Is ‘interrupting God’s Work’ On Fourth Rape Attempt by chipzidar(op): 10:20am On Feb 13, 2016 |
Pastor Oprite Amakiri, the General Overseer of Agape Baptist Church, has been arrested and detained by the police for allegedly raping a teenager.
Amakiri, during one of his services, had explained to his somewhat 200 members that he had been battling waste pain for the past two years and now God had finally told him that a girl between the age of 12 and 18 years old would be needed to massage his waste for him to be healed.
Having taken his ‘prophecy’ with a naive mind and complete faith in his doctrine, one member of the congregation, the elder sister to the victim offered her 18-year-old sister for the massage job.
Amakiri took up the offer and paid a visit to the home of his victim’s sister, where they both resided, to get massaged. Noticing that the owner of the house (victim’s sister), who is a roadside trader, had gone to do her petty trading, the father of four launched his attack on the second day.
It was after the fourth incident and the refusal of the victim to be violated once again that led to the pastor’s exposure.
The dissatisfied cleric called the elder sister and complained that the work of God was being interrupted by her younger sister who has refused to let him in.
The 50-year-old cleric, in a confessional statement, said: “The elder sister to the girl I raped is a choir member of my church. It was after choir practice one Thursday that I informed the sister that I would like to visit her house for a serious discussion and she obliged me.”
“The following day, I paid her the visit and requested that she allow her younger sister (his victim), to massage my waist, that I had been having ache on it in the past two years and every treatment, drugs and injection had failed.
“She then went and discussed with the younger sister, who accepted to help me. So, we had the first massage treatment that day while the elder sister was around and nothing happened between me and the little girl.
“On Saturday, I called her to inform her that I was coming back for the treatment, I got there while she was about to leave for choir practice in the church. While the massage was going on, I had the (sexual) urge. So, I had carnal knowledge of the girl. I have successfully raped her three times.”
“It was the fourth time that she (victim) locked the gates against me. So, I had to call her sister on her cell phone and she rushed to the house from her shop and began to interrogate the girl on why she did not want to massage my waist again and she disclosed what has been happening between us.
“I sincerely regret my actions. It is like the ground should open up and swallow me. Don’t blame the devil for what has happened, blame me because I was tempted and I did it,” he added.
The victim, Goodness, narrated her unexpected ordeal saying, “I was in the house when the pastor came and asked me to massage his waist. On the first day, I massaged him, nothing happened between us. But on the second day, while I was massaging him, he began to touch my breast and raped me.
“I tried to escape, but he held me and warned me never to tell anybody what he did to me. He has raped me three times,” the victim said, adding that she used vegetable oil to massage the pastor’s waist.
Ahmad Mohammad, State Police Public Relations Officer, acknowledged that the pastor willingly confessed to taking advantage of the teenager and accepted arrest, adding that Amakiri would be charged to court at the end of an ongoing investigation into the matter.
Mohammad revealed that the teenager would be taken to the hospital for a comprehensive medical check-up to ascertain that the pastor has not infected her with HIV or any other sexually transmitted diseases. http://thebase.ng/religion/pastor-says-teenage-girl-is-interrupting-gods-work-on-fourth-rape-attempt-id11047.htmllalasticlala

Politics › Dogara: Buhari’s "Change" Will Take Time by chipzidar(op): 9:05pm On Dec 26, 2015 |
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, on Friday appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari if they felt that the change promised by the government was not coming as fast as they wanted.
He gave an assurance to the people that with patience, the country would overcome its challenges and Buhari would deliver on his promises.
Dogara spoke during a Christmas service at the Church of Christ in Nations, Gwarangah, Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
A statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Turaki Hassan, quoted the speaker as saying, “Many people have been asking, where is the change?
“What is the future of this country?”
Dogara told the congregation that Nigeria was like any other nation facing challenges, adding that, “Europe is struggling with refugees; Arab countries are in turmoil, while some countries are even failed states.”
Arguing further in favour of Buhari, Dogara said, “Before this government took over, workers in many states were not paid salaries for months; our economy was badly damaged, there was massive looting.
“Now we have a leadership that has emerged with a will to take on the challenges. Of course, it will take time. The President was humble enough to apologise to Nigerians for the hardship over fuel scarcity.”
In Abuja, some of Dogara’s colleagues in the House sent him best wishes ahead of his 48th birthday coming up this Saturday (today).
A message of felicitation signed on their behalf by the Leader of the House, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, noted that in the last few months that he assumed duties as the speaker, the House had demonstrated the will to perform its core duties as a legislature. The officers assured Dogara of their support, saying that working together; they would ensure that the country enjoyed peace.
The statement read in part, “The success story recorded in the last few months is a testimony to our collective drive to provide good legislation and engage in oversight functions that would breathe more life into the Change agenda of the Federal Government.
“As you prepare to provide leadership in 2016, we pledge to continue to do what would bring peace and development to our country.” http://www.punchng.com/dogara-admits-buharis-change-slow-begs-nigerians/

Health › World's Fattest Man, Mr Moreno Dies On Christmas Day At 38 by chipzidar(op): 8:54pm On Dec 26, 2015 |
The dangers of getting obese has been highlighted with the sudden demise of world's fattest man, Mexican Andres Moreno at the young age of 38.
The world’s fattest man has died aged just 38. Mexican Andres Moreno suffered a heart attack as he was taken to a private hospital in an ambulance on Christmas Day, Mirror reports. He underwent stomach bypass surgery in October in the hope of slimming down to 12 and a half stone and earlier this month managed to walk with the the help of a relative. He was bed-bound and weighed an incredible 70 stone at his heaviest before the op, although he lost 19 stone naturally so he could go under the knife. News of his death was revealed by relatives on his Facebook page. Publicist Carmen Palacios confirmed later:“Andres died at 8.30am on Christmas Day in an ambulance from a heart attack as he was taken from his house to San Jose Hospital.” He is due to be buried later today. Moreno, a former police officer, admitted to being dumped by his wife as his weight ballooned after he turned 20. The previous record for the world’s fattest man was also held by a Mexican, Manuel Uribe, from Monterrey, who weighed 88 stone. He died last year aged 48. Britain’s fattest man, 65-stone Carl Thompson, died in June just a month after pleading for help to try and change the 10,000 calories-a-day diet he was warned would kill him. http://thebase.ng/news/worlds-fattest-man-mr-moreno-dies-on-christmas-day-at-38-id8967.htmllalasticlala

Politics › Dickson's Supporters Dump PDP For APC At Final Rally - Naij by chipzidar(op): 7:32am On Dec 02, 2015 |
This, The Nation reports, is partly because some loyal and serving members of the ruling party in the state were seen showing solidarity for the opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) during its final campaign at the Samson Siasia stadium in Yenagoa, the state capital on Tuesday, December 1, 2015. It was gathered that there was a mammoth crowd in the state capital as the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC moved its headquarters to Bayelsa ahead of this weekend’s election, to show their support for the party’s flagbearer in the state, Chief Timipre Sylva as he battles Governor Seriake Dickson.
Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, representing President Muhammadu Buhari; Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the APC’s national chairman, and a host of others were at the campaign ground to drum support for their man who they believe will emerge victorious on Saturday.
APC governors such as Adams Oshiomhole (Edo); Aminu Tambuwa (Sokoto) and Rochas Okorocha (Imo) represented by his deputy, Eze Madumere, were also at the campaign venue as well as governorship candidates of the party in the southsouth states, who are seeking justice in courts; the likes of Dakuku Peterside (Rivers), Otega Emerhor (Delta) and Umana Umana (Rivers) including Senator Magnus Abe.
Vice President Osibanjo, who spoke on behalf of the president, said: “The time for change has come. The time of prosperity, the time of good governance has come. Don’t miss the train. What the President wants is that you will join what we are doing in the federal level. Bayelsa deserves its pride of place among the states of Nigeria.
“This state and its people are great. But you must do the right thing. The right thing is to leave from the PDP to the APC. It is time to move. On Saturday, you deserve the right to go to the polling booth with your PVC and you will make that change on Saturday.
“After that you will have the right to demand. You will have the right to ask our candidate who will be the next governor what he promised you. I promise you that you will see a real difference.
“There will be job, progress in this state. Everyone one of us looking for promotion will have it by the grace of God. You will achieve great things.”
Speaking also was the Jagaban of Borgu, Asiwaju Tinubu, who asked the people of the state to send PDP with its 16 years of ineptitude out of power, while adding that the APC is the cure for headache, unemployment and other societal ills brought about by the ruling party.
“For 16 years you have been led in the wilderness by poverty development party. Send PDP away with its poverty, no water, unemployment, darkness.
“Vote and defend your votes. They are already afraid. You are already the master. Sylva is back. He has bounced back. Only you can make him win,” Tinubu said. https://www.naij.com/653510-trouble-bayelsa-dicksons-supporters-dump-pdp-apc-final-rally.htmlLalasticlala
