Webmasters / How To Automate Plugin Installation When Building A Website With Wordpress by chitex88(m): 12:02pm On Jan 08, 2020
If you are Wordpress designer, one of the things you need to do is to automate your processes.

One of the processes to automate is your plugin installation.

You need to have a list plugins you use regularly when building website for your clients.

Normally, you should be installing them one after the other when you need to use them.

What if you can bulk import all these plugins once, upload and install them with one click?

You can do that using this simple hack.

To achieve this , we will use a plugin called WP Core. You can access it from wpcore(dot)com

WP Core helps you take control of your Wordpress plugins.

To begin, create an account for free, then you create and manage a collection of the plugins you use on regular basis.

Then follow this 3 step process.

Build plugin collections
Create a collection and add WordPress plugins you use on regular basis. Copy the collection key.

Import your collection
Go the brand new Wordpress site setup (i.e a setup without any plugin except the default ones that come with Wordpress) and install the wpcore plugin from the Wordpress repository, activate.
Drop the collection key into the WPCore plugin settings within WordPress, i.e your new Wordpress site.

Bulk install the plugins
WPCore will automatically pull in all the plugins from the collection to your site.

And that is it, all the selected plugins will be installed and activated and you would saved all the time you could have used to do manual individual installation.

Let me know if you have any question.

Webmasters / 8 Website Design Improvements That Will Attract New Customers by chitex88(m): 3:26pm On Jul 31, 2015
No matter how tempted you are to give your site every design bell and whistle, it's probably best to just scale back and go simple.

Let's face it: your company isn’t going anywhere these days without a website. And with so many competitors online, a website is no longer just a calling card, it is the first point of contact for a potential client. The way to beat your competitors is not necessarily through SEO, social referrals, or even having the best product (of course, all three help).

It's also about being able to communicate your vision to the people you want to engage with clearly, uniquely, and personally. And the most effective way to do that is by having a stand-out website. Design can make all the difference. Here's how you can implement a better design on your site.
1. Pick a consistent statement color.

Your business communicates a lot at first glance, and it all hangs on the color scheme. Since colors evoke a message and emotion, it's no surprise that banks typically favor blue (which emotes a feeling of security and trustworthiness), and companies that prioritize organic living and the environment opt for green logos (signifying growth, freshness and health).

Specific statement colors not only speak to your business' intended message, but also to the demographic you're trying to attract. And when you've decided on a color scheme, make sure to use it consistently across all manner of branding, while scaling back on your general color palette.
2. Update your logo to integrate all platforms.

It has never been more important for your company to have a recognizable logo – after all, it's not just an emblem on a card anymore. A logo appears on your website (both desktop and mobile), across your social media entities, as a favicon on a web browser, a mobile app tile on a smartphone, and more. When looking for a logo, try to make it as simple as possible, and as unique as your brand.
3. Make use of interactive infographics.

A really effective way to communicate your message across to visitors is by integrating interactive infographics. This should come as no surprise – the human brain processes an image 60,000x faster than it does a piece of text. And by organizing essential key words in a well-designed graphic, an infographic can be more mobile-friendly than having to scroll through paragraphs of text.

Infographics can be used to outline a company's history, present a problem that can be solved using the brand, or convey key pieces of data. Also, infographics have long been known to increase the traffic on a site.
4. Favor high quality custom photos over stock imagery.

The art of photography has changed over time, and so has the culture of photography. So why are we still seeing stock photographs of stiff, generic people staring at the camera with fake, cheerful smiles across blogs and websites? Why do we still see pixelated photos splashed across websites? Time and money, that’s why.

It’s worth the money to create more personalized, unique, high resolution photos. People are more likely to respond to and engage with these. Nobody wants to see pixelated or low-quality pictures, so invest in a quality web host so those photos load quickly. I personally have loved Hostwinds for years because it doesn’t limit my site’s bandwith, but there are countless web hosts out there (everything from Hostgator to Godaddy to Yahoo) that might offer something specifically beneficial for your website.
5. Try usability testing to see what your demographic likes.

With so many different design options and trends floating around the internet, it's hard to know which features will work best for the users you're trying to attract. After all, branding strategies really only matter when they work.

Before going live, see if your company can collect people in your target demo and run a usability test for your website. They might be able to point out surprising details that can be improved upon, as well as aspects to enhance.
6. Showcase indicators of trust prominently.

No company wants to give the impression that their services have never been used before, yet we've all seen websites that look hastily thrown together, untested, or sketchy. One way of strengthening your reputation is by showcasing appropriate accolades and other indicators of trust prominently on the homepage.

Has your startup been mentioned in the New York Times or reviewed on popular tech publications? Does your company have any well-known VC backers, or have they formed professional relationships with already established brands? This information, with appropriate links and graphics, should be clearly incorporated.
7. Consider how viewers read your site.

Research from an eyetracking study from the Nielsen Norman Group has shown that internet users are more likely to read content in an F pattern: first in a horizontal bar across the top of the page, and then horizontally again a little further down. Then they scan the document vertically from top to bottom. The implications are that visitors don't necessarily read the whole document – they scan, and even then mostly just the first two paragraphs on a page.

Applied to a business website, it may be more effective to communicate the most important information on the top third of a page, with generous use of keywords. Try to break up large chunks of text with appropriate graphics. I try to do the same thing in various columns I do here on Inc. Regardless of whether or not this model works for your company, it's increasingly important to consider how viewers read your site.

8. Keep it simple!

When it comes to design, it's all too easy to overdo things by simply picking and choosing all the design elements from your favorite websites and trying to integrate them into your own. Fun, kitschy typography! A really striking color scheme! A full-sized fixed-width background image! Embedded feeds for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram; Pinterest pins on every image!

It's easy to get carried away by all of the elements that everyone says you need. However, even with today’s surplus of SEO features and custom design elements, it's never been more important to scale back, get rid of all non-essential details, and keep it simple.

On a practical level, people aren't just finding your company on a computer anymore. Screens are getting smaller, which means all-important information needs to be featured more prominently. They also have shorter attentions spans. People are scrolling faster, so if they don't find what they need at first glance, they'll look elsewhere. As we've learned from Apple, simple is beautiful. So if you're building a new website, or simply updating an old one, just remember: keep it simple.

Religion / The Truth About The New International Version (NIV) by chitex88(m): 9:08am On Jul 13, 2015
Last week I came across an article on Facebook that was trying to say that the New International Version (NIV) of the bible has some errors in it and that it is occultic. I also saw the same message on different social media platforms. You can see one here.
It is heart breaking that church goers are the set of people that hear something and believe it hook line and sinker especially when it came from their ‘pastor’. A true disciple will always find out the truth and that’s what makes the difference. Well,I don’t live that way, if someone as high as Apostle Paul will teach about something and his listeners will go back and check if what he preached is right “Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true”. Acts 17:11 NIV. Then, I don’t see who will say something that I won’t go and check if it is inline and right no matter the rank of that person.
After reading the content, I kept aside what I knew about NIV and I did my research to check some of the arguments raised and I want to address them here.
1. That NIV was written by one Zondervan (know more about Zondervan here[/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zondervan]). The truth is that NIV was written by group of over hundred scholars that worked directly from the best available Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek texts which started in 1965 which came as a result of meetings held by different scholars from the different churches to have the bible in a contemporary English for ease of understanding as we all we will agree that the old King James sometimes are difficult to understand and that what was what gave birth to NIV and other versions as we have them today. Read more about NIV here[/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_International_Version] and here[/https://www.biblegateway.com/versions/New-International-Version-NIV-Bible/#vinfo].
2. That NIV removed words like Jehovah, Calvary, and Holy Ghost etc: When you look up these words in other versions you won’t find them either. Take for example Jude 20 in the old King James “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost”. You will observe that many other translations never used the word Holy Ghost there but rather Holy Spirit even the New King James. Do we now discard all other versions and do away with them because of that? If you are a diligent student of the bible, you will know that Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit mean the same and signify the third person in Holy Trinity. So if NIV and versions used Holy Spirit instead of Holy Ghost, does that now mean that they removed it? The same goes for the word Calvary which means the place of the skull or Golgotha which is the original Hebrew meaning (Matt 27:33, Mark 15:22, John 19:17, Luke 23:33). For example, remember that the four gospels were written by people from different origins and to different origins and were addressed to them in a language and term they will understand and was written according to what they observed, that is why the same story may be explained differently especially in the four gospels.
3. That NIV removed 45 verses. The aforementioned verses were not removed as claimed. NIV was written in a contextual format because the bible was not originally written in chapters and verses. The classifications was done by some scholars to easy referencing of the bible so one can easily say go to chapter this and verse this of this book. NIV followed the original context as it is in both Greek and Hebrew so that the when reading or studying, you can follow the story and understand it in its whole context. If you have the NIV bible and understand what footnote is in the bible you will observe that the claimed removed verses were clearly indicated in the footnote and the reason why it was not included in the passage clearly explained. Now for those that have the Open Bible Android App for example, you will observe that there is an ‘*’ sign on the claimed removed verses which when you screen touch on it, it pops out and explains the reason why it was not included in the story. I agree that some Bible desktop software’s on PC and some Android Apps removed those verses completely, the reason is that some of those applications don’t have the copyright to the full version because a copyright is required to use peoples work of which bible translation is one of them. So if your version doesn’t have them, know that you have an incomplete version of the app or software and as such those are verses will be missing and you don’t know why. You can download the Open Bible Android app and check or get a copy of the printed version of the NIV and check at the footer to see the footnotes relating to those verses.
I took time to explain all these because that is how wrong doctrines are spread and accepted. People will hear will something, they go and carefully study to find out the truth, tomorrow it will now become a doctrine that NIV is a satanic version as some have started saying. Remember the words of Apostle Paul, in 2 Timothy 2:15 1. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Find out the truth and divide it rightly and accurately so you won’t be deceived or carried about by every wind of doctrine “that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head — Christ — 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love”.Eph 4:14-16 NKJV
May God bless you and give understanding in these things.

Computers / 9 Simple ways To Extend The Life Of Your laptop Battery by chitex88(m): 11:19am On Jul 09, 2015
Today I want to write on something that has been a problem for laptop users. Many users complain that their battery runs down quickly as a result, they cannot work without electricity especially in my country where power has been a major issue.

Below you will find some tips that will help u preserve and prolong the life of your battery.

1. There are many devices that are not used always e.g Bluetooth, WIFI, webcam etc. Don’t leave such devices on always; turn them off when they are not in use. It will be wise to also remove any USB device that is not in use.

2. Avoid using the hard drive unnecessarily. For example if you are using Microsoft Word or any of the packages, and you set it to auto save your documents every 5 minutes, consider changing it to auto save say 10 or 15 minutes.

3. We are all music lovers, and most times we are tempted to play our favorite CDs or DVDs while doing other work on the laptop. The truth is that the drive draws a lot of power while running, to avoid that, convert your music to Mp3 files and play them from the hard drive instead.

4. Don’t use your laptop in an uncomfortable environment i.e. an environment where the temperature is high. Hot temperatures make the battery to discharge quickly.

5 When running on battery, try as much to reduce the backlight of your screen using the power-control utilities (brightness, contrast), mostly found on the keyboard.

6 There is no point using leaving all programs open when you are not using them, they all draw their power from the battery. So close up unused applications or programmes.

7 There is always a belief that laptop should always be carried on the laps, or used while on the bed, or rug carpet. No matter the pleasure we derive from all these, they are not healthy for the life of your battery because they don’t allow proper air flow or circulation as a result causes overheating. So always use your laptop on a hard surface to allow air circulation.

8. Standby and Hibernation serve different purposes, Standby keeps your laptop partially on while drawing some power from the battery while hibernation puts your laptop partially off and saves your last state of use without drawing power from the battery but enabling you to resume where you stop. So when leaving your laptop for just few minutes use standby but if you are leaving it for a longer time, make use of the hibernate function.

9 Limit the graphic usage. If you will be doing much graphic works, consider using a graphic or video card.

If you apply these simple tips, you consciously extend the life of your laptop battery.

I f you have other tips, share it with us.

Religion / The Highest Investment With The Best Returns by chitex88(m): 11:10am On Jul 09, 2015
Above all and before all, do this: Get Wisdom! Write this at the top of your list: Get Understanding!
Prov 4:7 MSG

The book of proverbs enumerated in so many places that wisdom is one thing that is required in life, in fact that our life depends on it. I encourage you to study and meditate on the book of Proverbs daily.
I want to enumerate below some benefits of acquiring wisdom in one’s life.
There is no doubt that, Solomon is the wisest man that lived. Yes Jesus confirmed that many people travelled far and wide to seek the Wisdom of Solomon Matt 12:42. But Jesus said that greater than Solomon is here, talking about himself. Paul in Colossians 2:3 made us to understand Jesus doesn’t just have wisdom, He is wisdom himself.
So if Solomon said we should pursue wisdom at all cost he is saying we should pursue Jesus to know Him and have Him in our life. And that was God gave him that turned his life around.
Some of the benefits are:

1. Wisdom is more precious than rubies. Nothing anyone desire can be compared with wisdom.
2. Wisdom and prudence live together and it carries with it knowledge and discretion.
3. All the words that wisdom have is just because wisdom speaks what is true and right.
4. Wisdom has counsel, sound judgment, understanding and power.
5. Wisdom helps kings to reign and helps them to rule aright.
6. Wisdom loves those that love him and those that seek him find him.
7. Wisdom has riches, honour, enduring wealth and prosperity.
8. The fruit of wisdom is better than gold and the returns of such investment is more than silver.
9. Wisdom walks in the way of righteousness and the paths of justice and it bestows wealth on those who love him and makes their treasure full.
10. Wisdom came at the beginning of God’s works of creation. He existed from eternity before the world began and before everything on earth was created.
11. Wisdom existed when the foundation of the earth was marked and he was filled with delight and rejoices in Gods’ presence, rejoicing in the whole and delights in mankind.
12. Those who keep the ways of wisdom are blessed.
13. Those who listens to wisdom and watches and waits daily at the doors of wisdom are blessed.
14. Those who find wisdom, finds life and receives favour from God.
15. Those who don’t find wisdom harms themselves and those who hates wisdom love death.

With all these benefits, it clearly shows that one must search for wisdom because ones life depends on it.

If Wisdom is Jesus Christ. The question now is, do you have Jesus in your life? Do you know Him as your Lord and Saviour? If your answer is no, then forget about getting wisdom in life.
Jesus is waiting for you today. Confess that He is your Lord. Believe in your heart that He died and rose again from death to save you. Ask Him to make you His child and give you the grace to live for Him.
May God bless you as you do so.
