The economy of the city is low. It's hard to survive there.

Apart from few business men that are making it big, the average earning power of the residents is very low, that explains why the rent is very low.

The rents may look cheap but raising money from the city to pay the rent will be your eye-opener.

Things are generally cheaper in onitcha because the purchasing power of the people is low, that will affect any business or service you are rendering.

Your enlightenment and education will not put you at any advantage cos the society has zero regard for that. You may need to Hussle like a hoodlum cheesy

Salary job in the city is a horror experience, except you are working for the government.

Honestly you are not built for that city.

Benin, owerri, Enugu has low rents too with with low economy but healthy society.

Lagos is much better.

I'm not going there because I want to work.

And I know all that.

Can you help?

I made an investment with Themap.ng in January. The ROI comes weekly. The portfolio is supposed to run for a year and the bikes will come back to me (if I need them) or I give them the authority to sell them and send me the funds (subject to a commission). I did my due diligence; I went to their office close to MM2 Ikeja. I chased them for a while for the agreement but I got it when I went to their office.

The first 6 months ran smoothly. Sometimes the payment came later in the week (Thur or Friday), but it was OK.

THE PROBLEM started after 6 months. They missed the first payment & kept mute. I thought it was an honest mistake and I trusted them to reconcile it as soon as I reported it, so I reported it. I have been chasing it since then so you can imagine the Level of frustration. In fact, they have missed 2 more payments since then, making it 3 missing payments and counting. These people will frustrate you to near submission, because every single time you contact them they make you recount your problem all over again (ZERO follow up) and then tell you they are working on it. They have now missed 3 payments and counting; the latest was just last week. Today is Tuesday and the ROI for this week hasn’t come. Perhaps this week will be the 4th unpaid ROI.

I made that investment so that the proceeds can go to a bunch of Underprivileged students I have on scholarship (school fees, pocket money etc.) and I made it very clear to them from the beginning. But these people have messed it up so much, and to add insult to injury, they give me the run around and make me chase them endlessly for unpaid ROI. They have completely destroyed all the trust and benefit of doubt. They never do what they say they will do, which is TERRIBLE for any business. JUST read some replies under any of their posts on Instagram and you will see a lot more people like me! I think that’s all the answers you need.

My advice would be for you to put your money someplace else.

Have you gone to their office?

there are more than one million shops in the Onitsha main market. more than 60% of this number sells clothing and textile materials. all these shops in the same market makes sales. in ur area how many shops sells a particular item. d key thing is to have or display why people in ur area needs and are ready to pay for. focus on securing a good location DT allows for more people to see what u re selling. what u setout to sell initially might not be what u will end up selling only. as time goes on u might see other things DT people might be demanding or u think will move. work wit an open mind. sourcing ur inventory at d possible lowest price is key so DT u can also sell at d lowest possible selling price. don't use greed to scare aware people from ur goods. there re goods DT are more appealing to customers u can make more profit from it while u break even on d ones DT has less appeal. in whatever u do use ur sense. there re goods dt might have low demand in Onitsha and sellers will like to do clearance sell while in jalingo DT item is hot cake and sells well. u can buy out cheap in Onitsha and sell high in jalingo. Biz is abt d level of info u have and ready to acquire.

here there re people whose shop are in a more strategic location in d market. they will do anything to maintain d shop, even if their landlords increase rent they will still stay. there are shops in some plaza here DT the users virtually pay no rent. like if d shop rent is 30k per month d tenants can put 3 people on atttach infron of d shop and beside and collect 10k from d three of them each per month. so whenever a new plaza is built u can see people rushing to get strategic shops in them without not necessarily having anything to sell there. as time goes on they will see what can move there and start selling them there

people in lagos are just working for their landlords, to be honest. Here in the north, you get to find a lot of civil servants who have several businesses.

Yes, I live in lagos and I'm planning to relocate.

That's why I'm interested in knowing the above information.

How can I be paying 300k yearly for a self-con?

When I don't pluck money from a tree and no sugar daddy.

Life is hard in Lagos

no I didn't but the connection just came, we blended just like dat because she stay next street and it was easier for the friendship to grow into something serious since she always smile anytime she passes through then.

Meaning you guys aren't even in a serious relationship.

How does smiling at each other while passing became a relationship?

Since it's still a friendship, then let it be a FRIENDSHIP.

Any small thread on travel section, una go dey ask for some kind questions.

There are so many threads about that on Nairaland. Find them and read on how to process visas.

We that can't travel, for now, allow us to enjoy this thread in peace
