The Anambra State Police Command on Saturday said it had no knowledge of the sex scandal involving the 2015 winner of the Miss Anambra competition, Chidimma Okeke.
Chidimma’s alleged lesbian video had gone viral on the social media shortly after she was abruptly dethroned last week by the organisers of the pageant, the Anambra Broadcasting Service.
Her lawyer, Ikenna Obidiegwu, had on Wednesday last week alleged that the Anambra Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sam Okaula, had denied his client (Chidimma) police protection for a press conference in Awka to state her side of the story.
He said, “The commissioner of police said the notice was too short, and that he could not mobilise police security for the queen immediately.”
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs. Nkeiru Nwode, in a telephone interview with our correspondent denied knowledge of the story.

PoliticsJonathan Probe: We Won’t Dictate To EFCC, DSS, Says Osinbajo …says Security Agen by ChrisHornz(op): 3:36am On Oct 30, 2016
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, on Saturday, assured Nigerians that the Federal Government would not interfere in the work of security and anti-corruption agencies if they decided to move against former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Osinbajo, who said the current administration did not believe in arbitrary arrests, explained that the agencies of government were being empowered to do their jobs without undue interference.
The vice president, according to a statement by his spokesman, Mr. Laolu Akande, spoke on Friday in Houston, Texas in the United States at a meeting he had with Nigerians based in the US.
He was said to have answered questions on the economy, the anti-corruption war, the recent arrest of judges and the menace of herdsmen in parts of the country, as well as community policing.
The statement read, “Answering a question from the Internet on when former President Jonathan would be arrested, Osinbajo pointed out that the Buhari administration was not in the business of arresting people anyhow.
“He said all the Buhari administration did was to empower the security agencies and the anti-corruption agencies to do their jobs, without the administration trying to teleguide (monitor) them,”
Osinbajo was also quoted as saying that the fight against corruption in the country was not based on ethnic, hasty or premeditated grounds.
He said, “Corruption is not an ethnic thing, there is an equal representation in the stealing as no one operates with his or her ethnic group alone, the culprits are in every case seen so far, united by greed to steal and not by ethnic or religious interest.”
Osinbajo disclosed that as much as $15bn had been stolen from the national coffers by individuals.
He said no responsible government would wave that aside so as not to offend people.
Commenting on the recent arrest of some judges in the country, Osinbajo said the Federal Government was only exercising its executive function in attempting to check excesses.
He said impunity could be dangerous in any sector.
He said due process was followed as the judges were released about 24 hours after their arrest, having written their statements.
Osinbajo also disclosed that security agencies have arrested about 800 suspected herdsmen across the country in relation to violent attacks on innocent people.
He said, “The President has given firm instructions to the security agencies to arrest not only herdsmen, who are attacking communities anywhere in the country, but anyone of them or anyone at all in possession of firearms.
“There are about 800 of suspected violent herdsmen in ....

SportsJose Mourinho Bars Rooney From United Escape by ChrisHornz(op): 11:39am On Oct 29, 2016
Wayne Rooney will not be allowed to leave Manchester United in the January transfer window despite his frustrations at losing his starting place at Old Trafford and interest from his former club Everton.
Ronald Koeman, in charge at the club Rooney left to join United in the summer of 2004, has become the first Premier League manager to express an interest in signing the England captain should Jose Mourinho be prepared to allow him to leave.
Mourinho stated categorically not only will Rooney, 31, be told to forget leaving but he also expects the experienced veteran to play a key role in his attempts to return United to the top of the English game.
"I know he can still play at the highest level. I know he’s the type of player I need," said Mourinho.
"He can play at the top level. I can't say what's going to happen when he's 32, 3, 4, 5 but what I can say is that he's a very good player, a very important player for us. He's going nowhere.
"We like him, he likes us. He's not happy in the last matches because he was on the bench but I think he is even unhappier when he's not on the bench because he's been injured and has to stay in the stands.
"There are no problems at all. He’s my captain. He is the team captain. He behaves like that.
"In all my career I have had just a couple of ...........

SportsEPL: J.mourinho, Man Utd Switch Focus To Burnley by ChrisHornz(op): 9:45pm On Oct 28, 2016
Jose Mourinho’s mood was a little brighter on Wednesday after an EFL Cup victory over Manchester City, but there is still much work to be done in order to get his season back on track.
The Manchester United manager issued a public apology to the club’s supporters after an embarrassing 4-0 defeat at Chelsea last Sunday, which left his team seventh in the Premier League.
Despite only winning one of their last six league matches, United are just six points behind leaders City as they go into Saturday’s home match against Burnley.
There is plenty of time to close the gap, and winger Juan Mata is optimistic that an improvement in form is imminent.
“After a defeat, everyone is going to speak badly about the team....

Nairaland GeneralKeeping Your Passwords, Pins, And Payment Cards Safe by ChrisHornz(op): 11:07pm On Oct 27, 2016
The emergence of digital banking has come with terms such as passwords and Personal Identification Numbers. In fact, financial technology and digital banking experts believe that passwords and PINs remain the bedrock of digital or electronic banking.
On Wednesday, we considered how you could protect your bank account from scammers. We examined various tips for doing this. This is why today’s article is a follow up to that.
Safeguarding your identity in digital banking is tantamount to protecting your money or wealth. Protecting your identity on Internet banking platforms and the world of digital banking in general is a must.
Your four-digit PIN for your debit card on online shopping sites, passwords on Internet banking platforms and other sites, and your debit card data are key to your life and financial resources.
The Automated Teller Machines and Internet banking platforms are under siege more than ever before from skimming. Skimming, where ATM thieves steal your PIN and account number using remote devices, is increasing dramatically. Often done by sophisticated crime rings, ATM skimming is becoming a high-tech art that’s hard to detect.
That’s bad news for consumers. Experts say that losses from skimming are approaching $1bn globally. Nearly one in five fraud victims reported having their credit card PIN or debit card PIN information stolen in 2009, according to Javelin Strategy & Research. Robert Vamosi, an analyst handling risk, fraud and security at Javelin, sees the ATM skimming continuing to rise this year and the next, according to www.bankrate.com.
Skimming isn’t new. It’s been around for at least 15 years. What has changed is that the “technology of the bad guy is getting better and better every year,” says Robert Siciliano, a security expert based in Boston, United States. “It’s up to consumers to watch their own backs.”
Typically, ATM thieves use two devices to capture your PIN and card data. One device sits near where you swipe your card and reads the magnetic stripe on your card with your account number. Even more confusing, the device mimics the card slot. “The technology has evolved to a point where the moulded plastic fits like it belongs there,” says Siciliano. Devices are even readily available over the Internet for as little as $300.
A camera, hidden from view, captures the PIN. “You can get the data in real time,” says Siciliano. “You can be in your car with a laptop remotely accessing the device.”
Thieves then burn the data onto a blank card to access your money.
The US Secret Service spokesman, Max Milien, wants consumers to be warned. “The public is notified after an event,” he says. And don’t take bank security for granted. Fraud can occur at any bank in any part of the country. Thieves are even sending out false text alerts to get consumer data.
In Nigeria, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has given several of such warnings. This is why the Central Bank of Nigeria is collaborating with the EFCC to address .....

EducationJAMB To Stop The Use Of Scratch Cards For Result Checking And Registration Soon by ChrisHornz(op): 1:38pm On Oct 27, 2016
Report has it that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), will soon stop the use of scratch cards for registration and checking of results.

This was disclosed JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyode on Tuesday at the National Executive Council meeting of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) in Abuja.

According to him this will likely become effective from 2017.

He added that once this becomes effective, students would generate a PIN number for themselves from their phone or computers before registering for examinations.

He frowned at situations whereby banks and vendors hoard the cards, only to sell them at a higher price.

He equally charged NASU members to involve in the ownership of Computer-Based Testing Centres, saying those who own the centres are businessmen merely exploiting students.

EducationThe Senate Suspends Move To Make JAMB Result Valid For Three Years by ChrisHornz(op): 1:21pm On Oct 27, 2016
Report has emerged that the Senate has suspended the move to amend the Act establishing the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

With this development, the extension of JAMB result validity has also been put on hold.

This was disclosed by the spokesperson of the board, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.

According to him, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education, Aliyu Wamakko, represented by Senator Ajayi Boroffice, announced this during an oversight visit to its Headquarters.

It was learnt that the Senate has suspended the idea to allow for adequate consultation with experts and to ensure that the progress being made by JAMB in the conduct of examination is not impeded.

“Your JAMB result is only valid for one year and we thought it would be better for it to be valid for at least three years. That would reduce the burden on the parents, students and even the institution that is conducting the test. I think it is good for all of us and would not be rejected by the public.

“We don’t make laws for an individual or for the Senate. But we make laws for the country in the interest of all of us. A bill must not necessarily be at the convenience of a particular organization. Since we don’t want to make a law that would impede the progress of any institution, we are bound to listen to what the stakeholders are saying.” Wamakko stated

Reacting to this, the Registrar/Chief Executive of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, commended the Senate for listening to his appeal and called on the House of Representatives and the Executive to equally do the same by suspending the amendment of the JAMB Act.
