I'm not yet a farmer but planning on starting up with livestock then later plantain and vegetables. How's farming in Etche, soil fertility, security and acceptance by the community?

Hey guys, reading through this thread has really inspired me to venture again into what I left years ago, 98 to be precise. Thanks for this thread dyoungfarmer and others that have shared their experince here too. Anyone has any leads on Flemish Giants? Please give a shoutout.

Hi Lolarde,

Am happy you mentioned the word " Passion" Without Passion, you cant go into Piggery, i guess thats why both words starts with the same letter ( P) .Piggery isnt a money spinner , it requires alot of research and Patience; because the practice hasnt been standardised in Nigeria, hardly will you meet 2 farmers using similar feed formular alot of farmers are using waste/ bi-products available around them.

Well, a few of us took time to discuss this association, it took us over a year of considering several things and factors, i also met with the South African Pork producers association to help us model our association . We have modeled the association after the SA Pork association which has been very successful ; for us to increase pork consumption in Nigeria , we need money, the 100k isnt going to any members pocket, but for the association to fulfill its aims and objectives
