If only the state govt can be a little bit sensible & draft out a better alternative.

Do you really know this area well? The market is not in any residential area. The market is planned to now face a major express road, Enugu - Port Harcourt express way.

Don't you know that with something very far below that amount, you can get a standard full plot 50*100 in PH, a location that's superb in nature, tiled street, mostly populated with men above middle class, water tight security network, if you happen to build a commercial property, you can be collecting each flat of two bedroom 1m per year, and they will be rushing in, begging you to pay, if you build it very well.

Land investment for some people must go according to their plan. You cannot tell someone who wants to live in Enugu to move to build a house in Port Harcourt just because the rents are higher. Some people will want to live near their aged parents and attend meetings and functions in their villages, money cannot be a factor in their decisions on where to site their houses.

God have mercy on liars. He mapped out land in Enugu South? Where exactly? Is there a part of Enugu South that does not have a name? The new building material market is along the expressway leading to the NNPC depo at Emene, and the place is neither functioning nor has anything close to international standard. The buildings with roof are residentials buildings opposite the new building material market. The building material market buildings all have concrete roof.

The location is Ugwuaji town, the land is a large open space reserved for the purpose many years ago. If you say the place is not functioning, then it's been long since you last visited Enugu.

Good evening Mr. Kenneth. I admire your contributions, your love for your tribe and Enugu in particular. But to call a spade a spade, you should know better not to call those assemblage of Igloos, building materials market. Which part of building material will fit into those tiny spaces? Can any size of timbre or steel rod fit into those spaces? If not, is it meant to be offices? Is that the kind of office you wish government to provide for our people if it is to be called office? Why would traders transacting millions of naira daily be subjected to such inhuman place to ply their trade and spend up to 10hrs of their daily life? If need be to use the toilet/washroom, they travel a quarter of a kilometre to do so. This is unkind and cruel of the government and the contractor. This is 2020 and our government are still subjecting the citizens to living in the stone age.

A lot of goods can enter that shop. In this new online economy, shops are built for sampling of your goods which might be stocked in a warehouse nearby. Some people use their shops as offices, to meet customers and discuss business, not to pack all their goods which might be in containers.

The government is cashing in on the development, floating a new housing estate around the area immediately......

Enugu South LGA And The New International Building Materials Market (pictures)

It was an idea of Sullivan Chime that the buying and selling of building materials at Kenyatta market was obstructing the smooth flow of traffic and causing hardship on commuters in the New layout, Ziks Avenue and Uwani areas of Enugu town. And so he mapped out a land in Enugu south for the local government to build a new international market to contain the thousands of traders selling various goods inside the streets of Enugu.

But it took the recent intervention of His excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to give an order that every trader in some mentioned building materials like cement and rods immediately relocate to the new market, before people started to move in. Now there is a serious demand for new shops, causing a frenzy of new shops being built to contain thousands of traders who are already trading in the completed sections of the market, which are marked by their tiny red roofs.

The senator representing Enugu west senatorial district, His Excellency, Senator Prof. Ike Ekweremadu yesterday distributed palliative items to his constituents to cushion the harsh realities of Covid19 on households.

He distributed 500 bags of rice and 300 cartons of noodles to each of the local government areas he represents. Representatives from each of the local government areas were around to pick up these supplies for onward distribution to the masses.

We pray that God will bless him for his generous heart, for remembering our people in this time of our need.
