Saudi Arabia and the concept of accountability are clearly incompatible. In the midst of on-going, appalling atrocities, the country has recently been appointed to head the UN Human Rights Council, in contradiction of Article 55 of the United Nations Charter, which stresses the importance of universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. Of course, the appointment itself can hardly be considered contentious, given the UN’s penchant for instigating violence in order to sustain itself. O’Connor wrote on her Facebook page: “What is this c*** doing on the cover of Rolling Stone? Music has officially died. Who knew it would be Rolling Stone that murdered it? “Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh can no longer be expected to take all the blame. Bob Dylan must be f****** horrified. #BoycottRollingStone #AGenerationIsBeingGroomedAndSilenced.” O’Connor's fans were largely in agreement with the singer, with Charlie Gipson writing on her Facebook page: “Amazing…fake tits, money and no talent get you on the cover of the Rolling Stone! Someone should write a song about that…” See the photo that outraged O'Connor here: http://whatsupic.com/entertainment-usa/143722-sinead-oconnor-kim-kardashian-cover.html |
https://whatsupic.com/images/whatsupic/1436781002n.jpg More and more people are speaking out against the Saudi regime, and the way in which its Wahhabi ideology has linked together an utter disregard for the historical heritage of Muslims with an unabashed embrace of vapid capitalism. In both Mecca and Medina, the Saudi state has already bulldozed over 90% of the Islamic monuments going back some 1400 years. In their place, they are putting up five star hotels, parking lots, and shopping malls. Adding injury to insult: In the same cities of Mecca and Medina, where the Wahhabi-backed Saudi state has bulldozed the historical shrines and cemeteries of the family of the Prophet, now we have the establishment of shopping malls featuring…. Paris Hilton. Read more on: http://whatsupic.com/entertainment-usa/paris-hilton564684.html |
The pope, who has never been afraid to weigh into delicate issues both religious and political, made the comments in Bolivia, the second stop on a three-nation tour to his home continent of South America. "Today we are dismayed to see how in the Middle East and elsewhere in the world many of our brothers and sisters are persecuted, tortured and killed for their faith in Jesus," Pope Francis said. - See more at: http://en.institutomanquehue.org/publications/news/pope-francis-demands-end-to-christian-genocide-in-middle-east.html |

Continuing its grand tradition of wacky on-air high jinks, this morning CNN briefly reported the "unnerving" sight of someone carrying an ISIS flag at London's Pride parade. Lucy Pawle, a CNN International editor who was passing the parade on her way home, was shocked to see one of the revelers, "this man, quite distinctive from the rest of the crowd," waving "a very bad mimicry" of the black and white ISIS flag.
