Guestlander:Yes it's GMO, read the first paragraph of my first post. Yes we are eating hybrid crops which were developed by different research institutes in NIGERIA (see the listed examples in my first post). TELA Maize has been genetically modified to make it drought tolerance and insect resistance. That's why it should by classified as GMO crop and not hybrid. Before we can accept it, let FDA approve it and declare it safe for Americans. Even if they approve it, they will tag it GMO food and it will be boldly written on it in their grocery stores. I rest my case. |
Guestlander:You don't know anything about their aims and objectives. Please stop promoting what you know nothing about. Are you part of the research team? You will never know when they will use (GURT), which is commonly known as ‘Terminator’ technology to modify the seed. |
Guestlander:Why is it not approved by FDA? Let Bill Gate and Americans lead by example, they should plant and eat it first. |
See the response I got from ChatGPT on Tela Maize, I don't know why our leaders accepted this GMO Maize. Can't we do our own research and come up with a hybrid Maize. Are we having issues with planting our natural Maize? The major problem to food shortage is herders/farmers crisis. Even America didn't accept this TELA maize from Bill Gate. What problem does Bill Gate has with Africa?

TELA maize does not rely on ‘Terminator’ technology. Instead, it uses genetic modification to introduce traits such as drought tolerance and insect resistance. It’s important to note that TELA maize does not incorporate genetic use restriction technology (GURT), which is commonly known as ‘Terminator’ technology. TELA maize is a hybrid created through the crossing of carefully selected parent lines. However, being a hybrid does not automatically imply the use of ‘Terminator’ technology. The reduced vigour observed in subsequent generations of hybrids is a natural outcome of genetic segregation, not a result of engineered sterility. The transgenic traits present in TELA maize, namely drought tolerance and insect resistance, are unrelated to seed viability. These traits are intended to enhance crop performance, rather than control reproduction. Therefore, TELA maize seeds remain viable and can be replanted. It’s worth mentioning that replanting may lead to reduced performance due to hybrid genetics, but the seeds themselves are not sterile. It is important to highlight that there has been a widespread moratorium on the commercial use of Terminator technology. TELA maize has been developed and approved under regulatory frameworks that strictly prohibit the use of ‘Terminator’ technology. TELA maize is not the sole and first hybrid seed available in Nigeria. Various other conventional seeds also possess hybrid traits, which farmers have been purchasing and cultivating in our fields. Examples include the following: 1. Maize Hybrids Oba Super 1 and Oba Super 2 are popular maize hybrids developed by the Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR) at Ahmadu Bello University. SAMMAZ series: Developed by the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA). 2. Rice Hybrids FARO 44 (Sipi) is a hybrid rice variety developed by the National Cereals Research Institute (NCRI) in collaboration with international partners. NERICA (New Rice for Africa) varieties are hybrids developed by the Africa Rice Center to combine the high yield of Asian rice with the hardiness of African rice. 3. Sorghum Hybrids SAMSORG series are hybrid sorghum varieties developed by the Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR) to improve yield and drought tolerance. 4. Cowpea Hybrids IT89KD-288 is a hybrid cowpea variety developed by the IITA, known for its resistance to pests and high yield. These examples demonstrate that hybrid seeds are widely used in Nigeria to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability, showing that hybridization is not exclusive to genetically modified crops alone. https://sciencenigeria.com/factual-information-on-tela-maize/

SamJed:It's obvious Tinubu messed up the economy by announcing removal of subsidy during his innigural speech. |
If anyone tells you Buhari is planning anything against you, just go and sleep. That man too dullll abeg |
This meeting is a response to the recent sinister move by the great midget El-Rufai, Atiku and some northern governors. They are cooking something up north and nobody wan lose guard, you snooze you lose. Like I said previously, once power returns to the North, it will never leave the North again. The best option at the moment is to return to regional government and later divide this Country. |
AngryMrMAN:Till the world complete replace fossil fuel with renewable energy... Major fund for terrorism comes from oil rich Islamic countries, they will rather use their money to sponsor terrorism to promo their Islamic agenda than to help other poor Islamic nations. |
Can Tinubu do anything about this? He's as unserious as Buhari |
IamAsiri:What are you people saying, does everyone has an acre or even a plot of land for themselves. |
Zxcvbnmghtr:Are you telling me your parent eat only what they get from their farm? They don't eat rice? The truth is that everybody don't need to engage in farming to feed. The government should encourage large-scale mechanized farming that's what they do in other countries.Farming is a big business which should be left for those who are into full time farming. What about people living in a rented apartment in the city. Nevertheless, it's not a bad idea to do a small scale farming if you have the time and space but that won't take us anywhere as a nation. |
Zxcvbnmghtr:Can you feed your entire family all year round with the farm produce from your backyard? You aren't different from Doyin Okupe who said we should start planting tomatoes in sacks and stop complain about tomatoe scarcity. |
E don happen. Wike the Wicked Don! |
and Bobo Chicago is not bothered |
kettykin:This is not a good news and this government is handling situations like this with kid gloves... By mid next year, their major priority will be 2027 election. We must dissolve this unholy union. |

Claudia Sheinbaum was elected the country's first female president after a bloody election campaign that saw 37 candidates assassinated. Claudia Sheinbaum was elected as Mexico's first female president Sunday following the deadliest election campaign in the country's modern history. More than three dozen candidates were assassinated, including a local government candidate in central Puebla state who was killed on Friday, increasing the total number of those killed to 37 ahead of Sunday’s vote, according to data from security consultancy Integralia obtained by Reuters. Across the country, there were more than 20,000 positions to fill and 70,000 candidates vying for the spots. Why is this election so important? One of the top issues in this year’s presidential contest was violent crime. Outgoing President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has had to account for a persistently high murder rate, with his opposition arguing for change. Security analyst David Saucedo told the Associated Press that drug cartels will likely try to force voters to support their favored candidates. Cartels are becoming increasingly dangerous — they’re now well-armed and politically influential. According to a report translated by NPR, more than 30,000 people are murdered each year in Mexico, compared to roughly 18,500 in the U.S. in 2023. https://www.yahoo.com/news/mexico-elects-1st-female-president-following-deadliest-election-campaign-in-countrys-modern-history-heres-what-to-know-184442748.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAEw6CSGst4WVlJ5LpF9BL0gdThNFdx15MQ4avf0Dgaq77t2HX0_DMJIMJDbPlabN07Zg3gtlrKeYveE2DtsnKD02JuFzEo9RCpBnFfJaRvOE3MonDukjrXqPZcaEvJZ2iH1H7fpj1JyqlJvQJMysYeXShldPHdwCux_tzhrZamH3

Turkey to join BRICS soon!

Nigeria wake up! Yes, the BRICS nations have indeed started trading more actively among themselves. Trade within the BRICS bloc—comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—has been increasing. For instance, in the first quarter of 2024, China's trade with other BRICS countries rose by 11.3%, reaching a value of $209.7 billion . This growth includes significant increases in both imports and exports across member states. Additionally, the BRICS countries are working on enhancing their economic collaboration through initiatives like a unified digital currency payment system. This system aims to reduce reliance on Western financial institutions and facilitate more efficient cross-border transactions within the bloc https://govt.chinadaily.com.cn/s/202405/06/WS663847ae498ed2d7b7eace97/chinas-trade-with-other-brics-members-up-11-3-in-q1.html https://genfinity.io/2024/03/06/brics-digital-currency-payment-system/ |
The food inflation we are experiencing now was a well orchestrated plan of few people whose aim is to control Africa's (expecially, Nigeria) population. But our government is playing politics with everything. Below is a news piece on Nairaland since 2016. https://www.nairaland.com/3463057/breaking-how-bill-gates-sponsoring https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaNKitqpUn0?feature=shared |
Soyinka is no longer relevant in todays politics. He shouldn't be taken serious. |
They supply food to other parts of the country. Recently, there was a serious fight between Hausas(tomatoes seller's) and the area boys at Ile-Epo market in Lagos, the aftermath is the scarcity of Tomatoes and Pepper experienced in Lagos at the moment. |
