In the video, Governor Fubara pulled out a red pen from his breast pocket and addressed the audience, declaring, "This red pen is the will. I still have it."

"The pen failed," the governor acknowledged, adding, "As long as we hold onto the Red Ball Pen, we are the winners." He emphasized that Rivers State would continue to progress as long as they held the covenant with the Red Bureau.

According to a statement by Boniface Onyedi on Facebook, Fubara attended a New Year Parish Diaconate meeting in the city of Sao Paulo in the Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State. This meeting place holds significance as the birthplace of Governor Fubara.

In a Christmas broadcast to the state's residents, Governor Fubara reiterated his commitment to implementing the Abuja peace accord despite facing criticism, emphasizing that the accord was not a "dead end."
