HealthThe Yearly MRTF (medical Residency Training Fund) Fraud by Clemz23(op): 8:09pm On Sep 18, 2024
The medical residency training fund (MRTF), is a fund made available by the federal government of Nigeria to resident doctors to fund their residency training program.

This payment comes yearly for a maximum of 5 years per resident doctors. The funds is meant to covers purchase of books and journals, enroll for update courses, examination fees and others training materials.

However, over the years there have been irregularities manning the payment of this fund to resident doctors across Nigeria.

Many residents doctors have spent 2 years in the programme without benefiting from the fund, every year doctors get frustrated following non-payment despite huge bugetary allocation made for the MRTF.

Payment are done haphazardly making the system look so fraudulent and uncoordinated.
News have it that doctors who have exited the programme, non doctors e.t. c, sometimes benefit from the fund whereas doctors that need this fund to cover for education/ training materials never get it.

That is the sad situation doctors find themselves in this country despite the massive exodus of young and promising doctors, no measure have been put in place to correct these anomaly. IT IS INDEED SAD.

The worse part of it is that nobody knows the problem and the situation becomes more fraudulent yearly and nobody seems to care about these resident doctors.

The big question is- WHERE DOES THIS FUND GO TO?
WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THE PAYMENT?
WHY ARE A LOT OF RESIDENT DOCTORS BEEN DEPRIVED OF THIS FUND?
WHY ARE PAYMENT DONE HAPHAZARDLY?

States where this funds are paid by state government don't have similar issues.

WHY IS THE FEDERAL PAYMENT SYSTEM MANNED WITH IRREGULARITIES?

The federal government need to bring these corrupt officials who are feasting on monies meant for the training of doctors in Nigeria to book, this is so important as to instill sanity to the system and give these frustrated young healthcare professionals a sense of hope despite the hopeless situation.
