which should be 4cylinders, each with 2intake valve
and 2exhaust valve making 4valves per cylinder (double stroke) normally for DOHC ( double over head can) so we have 4×4=16÷2=8 (v8)

On the more serious note though, rejection is hard to take more so if the initial approach was made by the girl. You have to be mature in dealing with her obvious dissapointment. Explain to her that you appreciate the friendship that you have and would have dated her if the other extenuating circumstances where different.
Reassure her that you value your friendship with her and wouldn't want it to suffer because of this
