Nairaland General › Yes I Am Back-Cleverly by Clerverly(op):
Wow it is good to be back! I know it would be a good news for some and a very bad news for some cheesy Which ever way, Cleverly is finally back!

My Story: My monicker was unjustifiably banned by one of the PDP moderators for 2months for calling Jonathan a drunkard and all the pleas, reports, mails and some Nairalanders interventions for the fellow to review the ban, fell on deaf hears. I quietly served the ban, came back and opened a thread where i thanked those who stood behind me in those two black months of my ban, alas the same mod got a tip off, that i was back and decided to place a hefty ban in order to silence me finally! Thanks to the hackers, I am now free!

However, I must confess it was not an easy decision coming back here again after piping as a guest, to read and observed that some Never-do-well-kids like idumuose, Victorciza, Mogidi et al have finally hijacked politics section with their abusive, intolerant, hate preaching, Name-callings and agbero-like behavior on this noble and intelligent-filled section of this forum. And i shoulder in disbelief how, the ever-banning-ready Moderators allow them to roam freely like chain-less dogs! It is really a pity! Anyway thats for another day.

This post wont be complete without mentioning names of comrades who steered the ship of the progressives while i was away on forced leave;

Ezekwesili Demands New Social Contract From Leaders

The Former Minister of Education, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili, has stated that for Nigeria to surmount its current socio economic and political challenges, Nigerians must demand a new and normal social contract from its leaders.

Ezekwesili made the call in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, while delivering a lecture titled ‘Renegotiating Nigeria’s Social Contract after 100 Years of Nationhood’ marking the 80th birthday celebration of Nobel Laurette, Prof Wole Soyinka.

Ezekwesili, who also advocated on good governance, challenged the citizenry to live up to their responsibilities by putting their leaders on their toes in re-positioning the country’s path of sustainable growth.

She said; “It is not Nigerian to be known as an underperforming country, it is not Nigerian to be known as a corrupt country, it is not Nigerian to be known for every negative label.”

The lecture put together by the National Association of Seadogs, formed by Professor Wole Soyinka in 1948 at the University College Ibadan, was aimed at promoting good governance, social justice, and the advancement of democratic ideals.

It was also to honour the man fondly called “Kongi” by friends and admirers whom to them remained a different personality.

Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, referred to the celebrant as “a colossus of our current era”, he added, “the Government and the people of Ogun State are proud of Professor Soyinka, our illustrious son.”

The Catholic Bishop Of Sokoto State, Mathew Kukah, said, “I’m not assessing him on whether he’s a good footballer or whether he plays tennis well, I’m concerned with what church he worships in, if he worships at all, I’ve only come to celebrate what I consider the greatest human being to come out of our continent.”

In his remarks at the occasion, former Military Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, expressed confidence in the future of the country despite current challenges. He said that he believes in Nigerians being able to keep the country together.

ODENIG: I write challenging any well meaning Nigerian citizen, within and in diaspora to awake and obey the clarion call.I plead with the muslim and chirstain brothers to hold back their sword a bit and ask these questions:
(a)Why are we fighting ourselves?
(b)Must souls perish because of politics?
(c)Will my child be a sacrificial lamb?
(d)Will my village brothers and sisters be sacrificial lamb?
(e)Will people with God given intellectual treasures be buried agian for maggots and termites to feed on.

If we have diligently answered this questions i think Goodluck Ebele Jonathan should be seen as neither PDP or APC.Points written by Obasanjo are what an average Nigerian man or woman have seen and has kept quiet for years.I bet every Nigerian Person to see GEJ as a forerunner and not as the Christ nor Muhammed .He is a man carrying the cross meant for the transiting period.A lot of rot has being going on in Nigeria,The same men crying corruption and inpunity are the same people in the society that have classed Nigeria as peasant and bussious. The later have seen that the only way to keep Nigerians from protesting is to give us unemployment, impoverished educational system, epileptic electirc power system, poor medical centres,no recreational enviromnent that will keep soul and spirit normal.Jonathan came up with a blue print that was well arranged betwwen him and his former master President Yaradua a good man to the core, the bussious saw it as a slap, that very soon their witchraft hold on Nigerians will soon come to lime light and also expire. These has informed the intense fight against the present administration. The first time in the history of Nigeria not to have fuel scarcity during festive period.GEJ have proved to these political element he cannot be pushed around. We can also see clearly that God fatherism is gradually dying off.Amechi Governor of River state stroke first refusing the cycling system of Godfatherism in the state and it has come to stay,Kudos Amechi.Obasanjo knowing well what he is doing replied us that '' I am not fighting Jonathan".He has been accused of being the one behind GEJ so made it clear that is what informed the writing of an Open Letter. Our economy is presently better than South Africa and some countries in Europe. The entertainment world is experiencing the peak of its boom since Goodluck became president.Let me peal the back of the fish a little, some orders will be given 2014 that will force state govt to deliver good and dividends of the present govt as quick as possible .Come 2015 a lot of these wicked poltician will run out of Nigeria because they will be prosecuted and jailed for life.A new era is what i can see.Buhari is another good man he has made it clear he can work with this present administration to fight corruption.Let come together and flush non progresives in Nigeria. It should be seen as state for everyone. Why are they crying blood now?

Taking a new corporate name doesn't mean that the old name and documents ceases to exist.

1997/1998 is one academic year. Ever heard of 2010/2011 graduates or 1997/1998 intake?

Pacific Christian college achieved university status in 1997, it became a University from that day until her transition to Hope International University.

Stella Oduah was given an honorary PhD degree in 1998. It is not mandatory that certificates must be issued in the name of the new University in that academic year. There will be a transition period.

For Glendale college, please look at their intra-campus transfer window. I hope i have answered your question satisfactorily and i hope we don't have to go back and forth about this anymore.

Politics › Re: APC Cautions PDP Against Using Religion As Trump Card- By: Lai Mohammed by Clerverly(op): 12:45am On Jan 09, 2014
By resorting To Religious and Tribal Campaign, PDP and GEJ have officially announced their impending extinction from the political sphere . Nigeria should be watchful, they want to take along the unity of the Country, but we shall resist it In Jesus Name!
Politics › APC Cautions PDP Against Using Religion As Trump Card- By: Lai Mohammed by Clerverly(op): 12:41am On Jan 09, 2014
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it is gravely alarmed and totally disgusted at the PDP's decision to use religion as a trump card in the run-up to 2015, warning that even in its desperation to cling to power at all cost, the ruling party must desist from fanning the embers of religion

''This irresponsible accusation by the PDP that the APC is dividing Nigerians along religious line is a new low even for a party that stands for nothing but incompetence, looting and election rigging. It is an indication that the desperadoes in the PDP will throw everything, including the kitchen sink, into their campaign to stop the wave of change blowing across Nigeria,'' the party said in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

It said the reason it has refrained from joining issues with the PDP, despite its sponsored campaign to portray the APC as an ''Islamic''party, is because it (APC) knows the dangers that religious politics portends for any nation that brings religion into politics, and that no nation which has descended into religious warfare has survived
intact.

''No party wishing to lead Nigeria aright can do so on the basis of religion or ethnicity. Therefore, we are compelled to warn the PDP not to play what it believes to be its trump card, the religious card, against the APC, because whatever politicians do, they must refrain from ethnic or religious politics and put their country above selfish considerations. Only an irresponsible party will play the religious card for any reason,'' APC said.

The party said even when the PDP's top leader, President Goodluck Jonathan, decided to wear religion on his sleeve, kneeling down before respectable religious leaders and pushing the pictures into the media in an apparent ploy to score political gains, the APC refrained from making any comments on it.

It said when President Jonathan also decided to lead a bloated delegation of his cabinet to an extended pilgrimage in Israel and ferret to the media back home the pictures of the delegation members at the Wailing Wall and other religious landmarks, the APC did not make an issue of the glaring exhibitionism.

''The basis of our circumspection is that in the first instance, we believe that all Nigerians are constitutionally guaranteed their right to any faith of their own choosing, and that playing their religious card should be avoided at all cost in the larger national interest,''
APC said.

The party said it is neither logical nor rational to accuse a party whose 35 interim officials are almost equally split between the adherents of the two major religions (18 Muslims and 17 Christians) and cuts across all ethnic lines; a party whose elected officials - Governors, Senators, House of Representatives members etc - profess various faith and a party that has never expressed any preference for one religion over another as an ''Islamic'' party.

''We are therefore warning the PDP to stop this dangerous campaign forthwith, unless of course it has decided that its interest supersedes that of the nation. If the PDP fails to stop this campaign, we will be compelled to conclude that the party (PDP) is trying to plug in to the global stereotype against adherents of a certain religion just to spread fear and garner support in certain circles,''
it said.

APC appealed to Nigerians to ignore the dangerous game that the PDP is playing by labelling the APC an ''Islamic'' party as a scaremongering
tactic that the comatose ruling party hopes will revive it.

''Nigerians have a history of religious tolerance that has served the country so well. We urge our compatriots to continue along this path, irrespective of the antics of a party that has finally drowned due to its own internal failings and contradictions,'' the
party said.

It called for a clean electioneering campaign that focuses on issues that are relevant to the well-being of the long-suffering people of Nigeria and issues that are edifying for the country, saying Nigerians want to know, for example, how the present situation of hopelessly can be turned around, how corruption can be stamped out; how a 24-hour electricity supply will be achieved just like in most countries of the world; how our teeming unemployed youths will be gainfully employed and how our dilapidated infrastructure will be rebuilt.

''On our part, we are focused on issues that will lift the living
standard of Nigerians and make our country great again, and these we have enunciated in our manifesto which is accessible on our website.

And once the green-light is given for electioneering campaign, we will be ready to unveil our strategies for achieving the stated objectives.

''For now, we ask anyone who needs to be convinced of our capability to visit any of the states under our control and see how we are utilizing the scarce resources at our disposal for quality-of-life
initiatives that are serving the people well,'' APC said

Politics › Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah In Fresh Fake Doctorate Degree Scandal-PT by Clerverly(op): 12:28am On Jan 09, 2014
Twenty-four hours after her claim to have acquired a Masters degree from the St. Paul’s College in the United States was punctured, PREMIUM TIMES has uncovered another false claim by our embattled Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah.

This time, the minister lied on oath to the Nigerian Senate, claiming another American ‘university’, Pacific Christian University awarded her an honorary doctorate degree in 1998.

Mrs. Oduah made the claim in a 7-page resume she distributed to Nigeria’s 109 senators during her confirmation hearing on July 2, 2011.

On page four of the document, the minister claimed the university, which she said was based in Glendale, awarded her an honorary doctorate in Business Administration.

Download the resume Minister Stella Oduah submitted to the senate here.

It was based on this document that she was grilled and eventually confirmed by the lawmakers.

But investigations by PREMIUM TIMES suggest that no university called Pacific Christian University exists in the United States.

The U.S. Department of Education, through its National Centre for Education Statistics, keeps an up-to-date database of all public libraries and educational institutions in the country – public, private and colleges.

PREMIUM TIMES reporters spent hours on Wednesday searching this database.

Our reporters searched by state (California), city (Glendale) and name of institution (Pacific Christian University). Yet, nothing came up in the name of the university Mrs. Oduah claimed gave her an honorary doctorate.

According to the database, there are six colleges (universities) in Glendale, a city of 191,719 inhabitants in Los Angeles County, in the state of California.

The colleges are American Medical Sciences Centre, Brand College, Glendale Career College, Glendale Community and North-West College.

There is no such university known as Christian Pacific College as claimed by the minister.

The spokesperson for the National Centre for Educational Statistics, Susan Ad, could however not be reached for comments.

She is yet to return calls and reply an email sent to her by this newspaper.

The spokespersons for the minister appear unwilling to comment for this story.

Efforts by PREMIUM TIMES to get them to react to this new revelation were unsuccessful.

Joe Obi, her special assistant on media, did not answer or return calls.

Yakubu Datti, the spokesperson of the aviation agencies, who usually speak for her, answered our call but immediately said he would call back. He is yet to do so as at the time of publishing this.

Meanwhile, in the same resume she submitted to the Senate, Mrs. Oduah did not indicate that she got a Masters from St. Paul, raising questions on why she made that claim in her official citations and profiles posted on the Ministry of Aviation website, her personal website and her Wikipedia page.

She only claimed in the document to the Senate that she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Paul’s College in 1982, a claim that PREMIUM TIMES is investigating.

The spokesperson for the Nigerian senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe, tried Tuesday to extricate the senate from blame as Nigerians criticize the lawmakers for conducting a sham screening exercise that allowed Mrs. Oduah to get away with lies and deceits.

Mr. Abaribe said the lawmakers depend largely on the nation’s security agencies to help them investigate claims by appointees of the president.

He said in conducting screening exercises, the senate relies largely on reports forwarded to it by the security agencies.

Mrs. Oduah, and her associates have spent the last several hours scrambling to clean up the minister’s biographies on the Internet, following allegations that she lied about her academic qualifications.

Already, Mrs. Oduah’s biography on the website of the Ministry of Aviation has been revised, with references to St. Paul’s College now wiped out.

The Wikipedia page of the minister was also edited and it now has no reference to the university Mrs. Oduah attended. The last edit on the Wikipedia page was done at 14:41 p.m. Nigerian time Tuesday.

All links and reference materials on the Wikipedia page capable of linking the minister to the university that has disowned her have also been deleted.

Even the minister’s personal website has been reviewed to remove any reference to St. Paul’s College.

Mrs. Oduah had since October been enmeshed in a a N255million armoured cars scandal in which she was accused of compelling an agency under her supervision, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, to buy her two exotic bullet cars at clearly inflated prices.

The purchase of the cars generated outrage for weeks because its cost was inflated, and it was neither listed in the government-approved budget nor did it comply with the Nigeria’s public procurement law.

The House of Representatives has since asked President Goodluck Jonathan to sack the minister but the president has failed to act.
