There was a slight twist in the story after the 2015 general election when a senator got wind of the N60 billion expenditure and tried to blackmail Emefiele, demanding N5 billion in order to keep it away from public scrutiny.
Emefiele reportedly resisted the pressure from the senator, insisting that he acted based on a presidential order.
The senator is now a principal officer of the national assembly against the wishes of Buhari, who was made aware of the blackmail in May before he was sworn in as president.
TheCable could not confirm if Emefiele eventually paid anything to the senator.

Election Of Peoples Democratic Party Senator Abaribe Nullified In Abia

The election of a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has been nullified by the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia today.

Delivering the judgement, the lead judge stated that the election of Senator Abaribe was inconclusive due to irregularities in two local government areas namely Obi gnaw and Ugwunagbo

The candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Chris Nkwonta, had petitioned the tribunal seeking nullification of Abaribe’s election on the basis of electoral irregularities.

Speaking with SaharaReporters by phone, Senator Abaribe said his team were confused about the ruling stating that his legal team has applied for a Certified true copy of the judgement so as to guide him in deciding on an appropriate response.

Senator Abaribe, a three-term Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe Magic FM senator was first elected to represent Abia-South Senatorial District at the Nigerian Senate in 2007.

If a neutral person wants a debate on this, I will so much oblige him but not you whose paymaster (Tinubu) was discharged based on the same charge because due process wasn't followed which is 100% applicable to Dr Saraki's charges.

Ahmed Tinubu was discharged on the grounds that CCB never gave him fair hearing and opportunity to reconcile and verify the so-called allegations which is the first step before charging him to court.

Saraki is not on trial for overestimating his worth (assets) with intent to enrich himself afterward hence he is not accused of corruption rather of negligence.

Dr Saraki did not falsify his assets declaration rather he is charged for error of omission.

Dr Saraki is not under trial rather the Senate presidency is because he allowed the probe of power sector expenditures probe from 1999 to date.

Don't allow the corrupt cabals to get Dr Saraki down and stop the probe.
