isrecole: This is not a news. Tambuwal is a known APC sympathiser. He has refused to attend ALL PDP meetings and functions since the begining of 2014. And PDP also did not visit him when they were in Sokoto last week because they knew he was gone. So nothing knew has happened. If Tambuwal is principled as he would want Nigerians to believe,he should vacate the Speakership seat because by rule the party in the Majority would retain the We need to gather for Okposi on Sunday and deliberate on Onwukwe's death. However, let's see how it plays out, maybe PDP will act like fools by allowing him to retain the Speakership. Tambuwal cannot approbate and reprobate!!! Which Rule biko?? |

onatisi: you don't seem to understand nigeria politics . Tambuwal defection to apc is for political survival and relevance . He knows that he won't be given any ticket in pdp not even for councilorship ,all tickets have virtually been shared and he is not among,if he remains in pdp he will not be in any goverment position in the coming goverment and that means no more huge money inflow into his account, the only option left is to move to a party that will give him a tangible ticket befitting of his status. So contrary to your belief ,tambuwal didn't dump pdp,but pdp and gej pushed him out peacefully and nicely without heating up the polity. I always admire the way you twist facts to soothe your sentiment. How can PDP push out someone that has never identified with them since he was elected a rep? And who told you PDP still exist in Sokoto state? |

Politics › We 'll Ensure GEJ Does Not Have Up 10% Of Osun Votes In 2015- Gov. Aregbesola by Clerverly(op): 10:16pm On Oct 27, 2014 |
The Governor of Osun, Rauf Aregbesola, has urged the newly elected Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun, Adegboyega Famodun, to ensure that the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, does not have 10 per cent of the vote during the 2015 presidential election in the state.
This was even as the former Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Sulaimon Argungu, called on the entire leadership of APC at all levels to work tirelessly to grow a political party and a mass movement that will usher in a new Nigeria in 2015.
Mr. Aregbesola made this call at the official presentation of the new executive councils of state, local government and wards of the APC in Osun at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park in Osogbo.
Mr. Famodun was elected as the state chairman; Isah Azeez, vice-chairman; Rasak Salinsile, Secretary; Segun Olanibi, Treasurer; Kudirat Fakokunde, women leader; Abubakar Muftau, Financial Secretary; David Morakinyo; Publicity Secretary; Adekunle Ogunsola, Legal Officer; Oluwole Akinloye, Welfare Secretary; Saliu Akanni, Osun West Zonal chairman; Olasosu Ogunremi, Osun East; Adelakin Adeoye, Osun central among other officers.
The governor admonished the newly sworn-in executive to hit the ground running so as to make quick the exit of PDP from the state.
He noted this can be done by rendering all PDP influence electoral influences insignificant in the forth-coming general elections.
The governor said, “You need to get to work earnestly.
“All members must work towards ensuring that PDP will not have ten per cent of the votes coming from Osun during the coming election. With that defeat, there will be no party called PDP in Osun.
“Come 2015 there will no longer be PDP in Osun, presently in APC in the state, we have all the governors that ever ruled in Osun, everything is working well for APC, with all this big shots in the party there was no discordant tune in the way the party executive emerged in the state,” the governor stressed.
He commended the outgoing chairman of the party, Biyi Adelowo, for presiding over the party when the party swept all the available elective positions in the 2011 elections.
Mr. Aregbesola noted that the achievement of Mr. Adelowo was the first in the state where a party will win all the available seats.
The governor also commended party members for their understanding during the congress, saying every member of the party cannot be party officers at the same time.
Speaking earlier, the former deputy governor who also is the Chairman APC state congress committee pointed out that the committee has been able to come out with a leadership that will promote peace and unity.
He noted that his committee despite some challenges has played a prominent role in the emergence of noble men and women as Osun party officers.
Mr. Argungu commended Mr. Aregbesola, elders, leaders, youth and women of APC in Osun for the sacrifices they made to ensure the success recorded at the congress.
He said, “I wish to appreciate the support and understanding of the outgoing interim chairman and all his team, particularly the secretarial staff for managing the affairs of the party in the last four years.
“I wish to urge the entire leadership of the party at all levels to work tirelessly to grow not just a great political party, but a great mass movement that will usher in the new Nigeria of our dreams come 2015.”
In his valedictory speech, the outgoing Chairman Elder Adelowo gave thanks to God for allowing him lead the party into a spectacular victory on April 14, 2011 when the party won all the available seats at the polls.
He added, “we also had the amazing grace of God to lead the party to another unimaginable victory over the tyranny and terror that the PDP unleashed on the citizens of Osun before, during and after the governorship election of August 9, 2014,” the former chairman noted.
In his own address, the newly elected Chairman, Gboyega Famodun, pointed out that during his tenure as chairman, he will provide a level playing field for members of the party.
He noted that his administration will also provide for everybody to participate and will not allow for dominance by any member of the party in the state.
According to him, “Future elections will not be taken for granted in the state and we will be pro-active on issues relating to members of the party and the party. We will at all times maintain an open door policy for the progress of our great party.” https://www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/ssouth-west/170172-apc-must-seal-pdps-coffin-in-2015-aregbesola.html

Politics › We’ll Flush Out PDP Like Ebola by Clerverly(op): 11:52pm On Oct 26, 2014 |
THE leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that the party will take over government at the federal level in 2015. Chieftains of the party made this known at a mega rally held in Port Harcourt, on Saturday, to mark the seventh anniversary of the Governor Rotimi Amaechi-led administration in Rivers State. APC national chairman, Chief Odigie Oyegun, assured that the party would sail to victory in the 2015 elections, not only in Rivers, but also at the federal level. He likened the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the dreaded Ebola disease, noting that Nigeria would be made free of what he said was the PDP virus in 2015, just like the war was won against Ebola in the country. “During the PDP South-South campaign, he (President Goodluck Jonathan) told the whole nation that APC does not exist in Rivers State; that it is only a poster party. We were worried and we concerned. Your governor, a fantastic man, was challenged. “So, today, he brought all of us here. The entire leadership of APC is lined up here today. I want to tell you that we have come. I want to tell you that we have seen; I want to tell you that we are convinced, that your great governor, Chubuike Amaechi, controls Rivers State; that APC is in charge of Rivers State. “Finally, those of you who will work for and will make sure that we get a permanent voter card so that they can vote on that day so that we can make Nigeria PDP-free as Rivers is today Ebola-free, give me a great big o yeah”, he said. Former military Head of State and an APC presidential aspirant in the 2015 elections, General Muhammadu Buhari, said the people of the state had been very lucky to have Amachi as their governor in the last seven years. He also assured that APC would, from 2015, meet the yearlings and aspiration of Nigerians for adequate security and development. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakr, who is also contesting the presidential election, said Rivers had witnessed tremendous and unsurpassed growth and development under the Amaechi administration. “Do you want the progress to continue? Do you want to feel the projects? Do you want to eradicate poverty? Do you want to go to good schools? Do you want good roads? Do you want power? Vote APC, vote APC, vote APC”, he added. Another presidential hopeful, Givernor Rabiu Kwakwanso of Kano State, congratulated his Rivers State counterpart on his developmental strides in the state, assuring that other parts of the country would work together with Rivers for sustainable peace and growth. Nda Isaiah, publisher of the Leadership newspaper and APC presidential aspirant, also attested to the developmental efforts of Governor Amaechi and warned that anybody that planned to rig the 2015 elections would have to contend with great resistance from the people. Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, said APC represented the change Nigerians were yearning for and assured that the party would present a presidential candidate devoid of religious or tribal sentiments.
“Let me say to all of you, when John the Baptist was preaching in the wilderness, he was saying to the PDP people, ‘repent, repent for APC is coming. PDP you came and gave my people poverty and disease. But this party coming after you which is called APC, shall provide the dividends of democracy”, he said. Speaking earlier, Governor Amaechi called on the people of the state to punish PDP with their votes in 2015, alleging that President Jonathan hated the people by not executing any project in the state since the inception of his administration. Faulting the claim that the Federal Government had neglected the state because of his quarrel with the president, he queried the alleged neglect of the federal road that link Akwa Ibom with Cross River, two PDP-controlled states. Amaechi accused the Federal Government of frustrating efforts to distribute the 715 megawatts which he said his administration had developed, adding, “They don’t care for you; they want you to die of water-borne diseases. Punish them with your votes; punish PDP with your votes.” http://tribune.com.ng/news/top-stories/item/19726-we-ll-flush-out-pdp-like-ebola
