Nairaland GeneralRe: Consortium Plan $7.5bn High Speed Rail From Lagos To N'delta by Cockpitboy(op): 4:32am On Mar 07, 2009
Is there any way this crew can be motivated to bring this lofty plan to fruition?
Nairaland GeneralConsortium Plan $7.5bn High Speed Rail From Lagos To N'delta by Cockpitboy(op): 3:29am On Mar 06, 2009
This seems to be quite a good initiative by well meaning Nigerians.
A step towards convenience/speed.

Oracle Nigeria Limited, a wholly owned indigenous company, is proposing to build a high speed train that will connect Lagos and the Niger Delta region. The project is estimated to gulp about $7.5bn
:
:
:
The proposed corridor for the HSR is Lagos, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Abia, Imo, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.

"It is envisaged that travelling time from Lagos to Calabar will not exceed four hours, inclusive of stops. This mode of transportation will create relief in a country fraught by road accidents, which according to the World Health Organisation account for over 32,000 deaths in Nigeria every year.

Thumbs up Oracle, more on http://odili.net/news/source/2009/mar/5/403.html

PoliticsA Potent Step Towards World Peace by Cockpitboy(op): 10:43am On Feb 03, 2009
The freshness that comes with the new US administration offers quite a number of advantages, one being the freedom to test fresh ideas without too much skepticism.

If I where President Obama, one of my first moves would've been to convene some sort of exclusive *Presidential Party*, I'd call all world leaders to merry at the white house (Obama has that privilege, 'he's fresh'), no protocols involved, main theme "wine and dine", u can call it a forum for relaxed interactions, I'm predicting the result would be: foes turning into friends while trying to clink those wine glasses.

Picture Hugo chavez wink patting obama on the shoulder n wispering some lofty ideas towards solving the looming economic crisis; A Ya'radua cheesy smiling as Gadafi n G. Brown admire his agbada; also Mugabe grin telling Angela M. (German chancellor) huh he plans to resign soon,

Just thoughts,

RomanceRe: Would You Date A Man Who Smokes And Drinks? by Cockpitboy(m): 9:52am On Jul 11, 2008
I dont understand the correlation between a good heart + maturity and smoking or drinking!!!

Haba, how can any1 be so childish. Its only a date afterall. You may even point out the dangers of his habits to him and help him quit. as things get heated up between u two.

but for real, if u end up tagging guyz bad coz they smoke or drink, you seriously have a lotta growin up to do.

Not so free, people!!!! Tuition is only a part of your fee. There are other things which you must pay. Besides its an expensive country to live in. Not so if you cook ur food, stay indoors most times etc. buts that not fun!
CareerRe: Engineering Vs Medicine "which Is More Challenging?" by Cockpitboy(op): 12:34pm On Jul 09, 2008
@ Moyola

Yeah, the combination would mean an extra challenge. I know of Medical Engineering and Medical Instrumentation as courses. I guess the challenge would lie in the undergraduate years. Let me be a little fair with the Docs, grabbing that MD seat as stated by CH3COO is quite a daunting task.

Engineers, am still with y'all. Its takes a lotta muscles and sweating out to get most of your jobs done.

Na true sha, but I go still value boku life pass one soul. Matter of factly, before person go see doctor, in most cases d person ill, u no know whether na in time to kpai. unlike all of a sudden, hale and hearty people dey jolly for high-rise building, e com collapse!!

CareerRe: Engineering Vs Medicine "which Is More Challenging?" by Cockpitboy(op): 12:05pm On Jul 09, 2008
Enlightening contribution CH3COO.

One screw up by the medical doctor could be the loss of a life, or a missed significant figure by the engineer could send a building collapsing.
At least only a life would be lost on a Doctor's mistake, Its on a grosser scale for the Engineer.

Both drain you mentally and physically
Both being a quest for knowledge should enrich rather than drain.

Chemical complex pathways is nothing foreign to chemical engineers
This fingers u out in favor of engineering.

All the same, nice points.
CareerRe: Engineering Vs Medicine "which Is More Challenging?" by Cockpitboy(op): 5:24pm On Jul 08, 2008
Wheelspin u've hit the realest situation, People always have a notion of thinking technology is expensive. Well thats why most engineers go for courses in Business/Marketing (which still poses a challenge)

Blingirl, its nice u've highlighted the buzy bodied nature of the the medical world, but time management should be a factor that distinguishes sound medics.

All the same, nice points from you 2.

CareerEngineering Vs Medicine "which Is More Challenging?" by Cockpitboy(op): 11:01am On Jul 07, 2008
Its Kindda like a debate,

You dont necessarily have to be an enigineering/medical student, Dr./Engr. to partake.

Simply defend your stand with supportive claims,

Should be a good forum to get a good glimpse of what each field really entails.

I'd say Engineering is tougher. Starting with problem solving, Complex equations and all. In medicine, the formula is just to stay consistent with your books( thats quite cool if you love reading).
Check out the circuits on your Laptop, do you have a clue of whats going on in it? Or imagine how bridges have been built accross oceans, Not to mention engineers' Overwhelming contribution to the medical world.

Your turn.

FamilyRe: Don’t Emulate Me, Man With 86 Wives Warns Youths by Cockpitboy(m): 9:57am On Jul 07, 2008
If its real, its quite a pathetic case!!!!,

, its sad when parent/child bonding, affection, and discipline etc have to be divided amongst a multitude of children,

, the chances of nurturing majority of the kids into adults with great personalities is quite slim,

Even the ones who turn out great would still have an unnecesary huge task of taking care of the less fortunate ones.

More so, imagine the psychological impacts which the wives tend to be suppressing!!! Envy being 1.

Mos def, no one in this era should dare emulate that dude.
