soundforce:Lol, thanks |
Sorry, i have been unavailable. I used NPK 15:15:15, selectively applied urea after some weeks cos some plants leaves were turning yellow. When they started fruiting applied calcium nitrate. GemAgro45: |

Psalmy2cute:Seems the seeds were stale in the market, had an expiration date of 2020. I dont know if that was it, but no matter how hard we tried, it just didnt grow. I even used tissue culture. So I moved to efia. I did this pepper project last year and it flopped. So i had old efia seeds, which expired Sept 2019. Surprisingly they grew like wild fire. I contacted east west seeds for more and they were out of stock, tried to get more but no distributor had efia. So I got opv from bakker brothers. Total disaster as well, none grew. Got super habaneros as we were behind schedule, the germination was outstanding as well. But they were too expensive so we could not continue with them. The east west seeds contacted back that piquante red was available. These grew very well as well. I've wasted lot of money on technisem seeds and they disappointed me, I'm sticking with east west seeds. You might not get efia again as the contact from east west says they are no longer ger producing it but replacing it with piquante red. We did not have any damping off issues and we did not spray any fungicides. Lucky us. Where is your farm, I would not mind to come for lessons o. |
Psalmy2cute:I've started seeing buds, gradually the flowers will come out. Several factors can change those dates, so I think they would be estimates. I planted several varieties when avenier F1 started fumbling. I have a mixture of efia, super habaneros and piquante red F1. We have transplanted the efia and the super habaneros, both are younger than the avenier F1. We will ne transplanting the piquante red in 2 weeks. We did not prune our peppers.

Psalmy2cute:Early detection but we have been lucky the incidence was low. We have had to spray once. But I have trained 2 of my workers on how to spot them, so they do a random walk through the farm every 2 days. |
Psalmy2cute:97 days. |
Psalmy2cute:Lucky you. These are 62 days after transplanting. Watching out for them to start flowering. How man ha are your peppers? Pepper type - Avenir F1

Do you use watering can for your wetting? From what you explained, seems what you use to wet has heavy droplets of water, it probably breaks the stems and they dont recover. You might use something lighter in wetting. my2chains: |
@okoroemeka @ogbongenet my ogas, please which herbicides are selective to peppers?? |
Please which herbicides are selective to peppers? |
It's just a pity that those that always want to save costs in most cases always end up spending the most. It is not like these ideas on cost saving dont work, they take time to perfect. So if you are going into agriculture as a business, expect alot of hitches in this first year, you will learn alot and the experience will guide you in the coming years if you wish to stick with pvc pipe or you will go with drips. Using pvc is not impossible, in my opinion if it is not research and development it is not worth it. |
mirabel9:Most varieties are between 90-100 days. |
Benagro:I use Haifa Bonus NPK 20 20 20 |
Psalmy2cute:I am not sure. These stayed these long because of land preparation, drips and mulch laying. However, they are constantly wet with folia fertilizers. From the things i have read, the recommended duration is 3-4 weeks. But IMO this is based on the plant development. |
Psalmy2cute:5 weeks and 4 days. |
Psalmy2cute:No, the seller is not gabby farm, I searched online and I found agromint in ibadan. I got the seeds from them. |
okoroemeka:Sorry for the late response. I am at the farm, I get to reply messages at night when network is okay. I will sure contact you, but it might not be regarding sharing. I am working on a pepper project of 4ha. This project failed last year, we planted less than an acre and lost 90 percent of it to flood due to poor planning. I've fixed the issues and I'm ready to go again. I'm searching for seeds as we are behind on the quantity to cover the project at hand. My search lead me to that seed. Which we will be planting along side technisem avenir f1 and efia which we are presently transplanting. Fortunately our avenir f1 was not too bad as it has been reported by farmers here. We got over 5k seeds from a can, which is fair (Pix included), we made sure we kept the seeds moist in the nurseries and they grew. You could try the same as well. Keep it moist and not wet.

Psalmy2cute:I am yet to buy it, but the seller posted it at 7k. okoroemeka:I am yet to plant it o. I myself is looking for more insight so i make a mistake. |
Has anyone planted these before (Bakker Brother - Hot pepper habaneros) ? Kindly share your experience. Thanks.
