“We reassure Nigerians that any discount from the Dangote Refinery will be passed on 100% to the general public.” By making the above statement and similar statement, the corrupt NNPC is making it sound as if the reason fuel sell for what it is sold for is Dangote. That's divisiveness. If Dangote prices it too high, buy from Malta or Singapore and let Dangote export his. |

Harvest related drop. The issue has never been inflation easing at some point during the year. It is about sustaining the drop long enough to demonstrate the magnitude of the harvest causing the drop. I must confess this year's drop is the least impressive in a long time. VeeVeeMyLuv: Yea not so far
But imagine for a second how salary earner since GEJ regime whose salary has remained same since then will find it excruciatingly difficult to cope now.
Don't tell me about talk of adding side hustle or extra source of income, those who do that are trying to absolve themselves from blame.
At this exchange rate you mentioned 0.58usd it translated to N85 per litre during GEJ regime which was by far more conveniently affordable back then, the only problems then was the occasional scarcity not that they couldn't afford it back then.
Now it is over times X10 of that amount. How insensitive can a government be? This increases have caused multiplier effect all across the entire nations economy with reverberations leading to inflation prices of goods and services flying high while take home earning remain the same.
The reality is that many, many people have now abandoned their cars for public transport. Big men and women of our society for the first time are now seen hoping into buses, public transport.
Women now enter the bush cut any green grass they see without knowing their name boil and started eating due to chronic hunger and inability to afford the most basic of the basic food due to PBAT insensitive policies.
Even pure water average Nigerian can hardly afford these days.
The govt has lost touch with reality, completely disconnected from the people. You have your points based on your perspective but those workers you are rooting for, are they really working? Imagine all the idle earners in LGAs and States getting paid for doing nothing. Thata the primary cause of steady inflation-increase. Imagine if such battalion of idlers contribute just equivalent of $500 per annum to the economy, that means there will be more forex and naira will be much stronger compared to the N1650-N1700 range it is today. That will in turn drastically drive down prices of all things especially the imported ones and dollar priced things like crude and its final products. The govt too have a part in that because they always want support of the idlers and most times lack the will the keep local production going. |

NNPCL didnt deny the story about them giving DRL 385k pbd of crude in exchange for petrol so how did they translate that to 898 NGN per litre of petrol. Mind you, Dangote says 44% of 650k bpd can satisfy local market plus smuggling needs. 44% of 650 is 286k pbd. What happens to the remaining 99k bpd equivalent? |

Also, it is kind of amusing that my opinions make you angry...maybe that's why she chased you out of bed last night.. ..angry men can't function well down there, you know.... Glad you have conceded defeat after exposing your lies by going personal. Dangote is refining and selling at a profit so wont shut down even in a hundred years. If the public refineries had been doing that since, Nigerians won't know what scarcity is. It would have been a matter of a markerter approaching the refinery to buy what they usually sell in intl market and selling it at open market price to Nigerians. |

nairalanda1: Yes, you have just shown us how APC runs economics in this country...which is to say the least, abysmal.
Domestic refining can only work in an atmosphere of full deregulation. That is something tinubu has refused to do all this time, but thanks to the inflation and rising costs of production, the price of subsidy is rising beyond what government can control. And NNPC is virtually tottering.
Yet they want to buy fuel from dangote, and subsidise it by forcing NNPC to pay for the loss generated by the shortfall.
Crazy economics from this useless apc government.
The truth is, selling and refining of petrol must be done at a profit, otherwise, Dangote refinery will be scrap in ten years time. No be curse , na fact. I always knew you would reply to figments of your twisted imagination. Dangote has veen refining and exporting with subsidy in and out of place. Take it easy. This your level stubbornness can only be witchcraft. What is on ground has nothing to do with APC. Refineries have been commatose before APC got power federally. OBJ even said it in an interview few months back. |

nairalanda1: And now karma has forced him to see what sane people saw back then
The thing is, sometimes I wish the government of GEJ back then told the ojota people to shut up, removed the subsidy completely, and yes, maybe fuel would have been costing N200 per liter then, but by now, we would have been producing fuel at home, and maybe, maybe...
The truth is, NIgerian politicans are not serious. has removal of subsidy helped Dangote? They are still looking to resubsidize the petrol so stop link linking subsidy with local refining capacity or feasibility. You saw nothing back then. Petrol can be subsidized or left to market forces irrespective of where is it refined. Is dangote not exporting today? Stop the lies. |

Salewa97: The price of petrol in Nigeria is still one of the lowest in the world. The only difference is that we are not subsidizing it for now which is not a bad thing. The money that would have been used for subsidy is being channeled into infrastructure development did he crash it or not? Lol. Reverse crashing. |
