NNPCL didnt deny the story about them giving DRL 385k pbd of crude in exchange for petrol so how did they translate that to 898 NGN per litre of petrol. Mind you, Dangote says 44% of 650k bpd can satisfy local market plus smuggling needs. 44% of 650 is 286k pbd. What happens to the remaining 99k bpd equivalent?

After harassing and accusing innocent businessman Dangote of monopoly, they entered a monopoly agreement with him and paid the shortfall in advance with excess crude. In that process they left open room for excess petrol for smuggling cabal members. Very painful way of screwing Nigerians.

Dangote is refining and selling at a profit so wont shut down even in a hundred years.
If the public refineries had been doing that since, Nigerians won't know what scarcity is. It would have been a matter of a markerter approaching the refinery to buy what they usually sell in intl market and selling it at open market price to Nigerians.

Domestic refining can only work in an atmosphere of full deregulation. That is something tinubu has refused to do all this time, but thanks to the inflation and rising costs of production, the price of subsidy is rising beyond what government can control. And NNPC is virtually tottering.

Yet they want to buy fuel from dangote, and subsidise it by forcing NNPC to pay for the loss generated by the shortfall.

What is on ground has nothing to do with APC. Refineries have been commatose before APC got power federally. OBJ even said it in an interview few months back.

has removal of subsidy helped Dangote? They are still looking to resubsidize the petrol so stop link linking subsidy with local refining capacity or feasibility.

You saw nothing back then. Petrol can be subsidized or left to market forces irrespective of where is it refined. Is dangote not exporting today? Stop the lies.

Again, we have not even reached the full capacity production of the refinery so the issue of excess doesn't arise.
DRL has the option of importing crude or buying at a premium from IOCs producing crude oil in Nigeria but those ones will not accept naira.

tlThere must be excess. Dangote and Edwin says a quarter(25%) of 650k bpd can cover local needs, NNPCL says they are giving ~60% of 650k bpd to DRL. That leaves a reverse or opposite shortfall of around 30% of 650k bpd.
The discrepancy is obvious to even a competent primary 3 pupil.

Few valid answers :

1. The jews own isreal and substantial part of the middle east.

Excess petrol is not even in the picture yet because others, including the relatives of Alhaji Dangote, still import.

This is a milestone and I believe that other issues that come up along the way will be resolved in the patriotic interest of Nigeria and business imperative of all the stakeholders.
What we should avoid is a monopoly and scarcity not excess petrol that can be easily exported to even earn more forex.
Remember that NNPCL is a significant part owner of Dangote Refinery. Most of you keep forgetting this fact.

If others import petrol while NNPCL exchanges as much as 60% of the 650k bpd dangote says a quarter of should satisfy local market, what happens to the remaining ~35% of 650k bpd excess output? Thats a huge margin or error o. Dont you think so?

NNPCL is technically exchanging its crude it sells in naira to DRL for the refined products. It makes perfect business sense to be the offtaker and marketers will now buy from it at a strategic margin.

what happens if another local marketer approaches DRL and buys excess petrol. There will be excess petrol at some point because NNPCL is offering Dangote Refinery Limited 385K BPD of crude oil and we know DRL can process 650K BPD. That effectively points to corruption between the NNPCL and their supervisors in the govt at federal level. In the previous articles, Edwin said something about around a quarter of DRL output satisfying local needs but NNPCL is saying they will be give over half of DRL capacity in exchange for local needs. NNPCL isnt in charge of the borders so should take the blame for smuggling but what is the govt doing about that? Pretending because they are the ultimate beneficiaries and you,FreeStuffNG, are playing along because you're "eating" with them?

Why is NNPCL the sole buyer feom Dangote if they arent willing to subsidize? The arrangement for subsidy is such that NNPCL gives crude and takes petrol. How much crude is needed to satisfy local petrol need?

NNPCL making it look like the smaller marketers buying from them boycotted Dangote petrol. The culprits pulling all the evil strings here is NNPCL and their govt associates. Now they have agreed to give Dangote 385k bpd in exchange for God knows how many millions of litre of petrol. If there is excess petrol after satisfying local market, how is the remaining ever accounted for?

The above scenario leaves the room for NNPCL top staff members to lower prices before selling off accumulated local petrol to smugglers.

The indian guy with Dangote, Edwin made comment about around a quarter of Dangote refinery output meeting our local need but here NNPCL is saying they will be giving Dangote 385k bpd to refine. That effectively means supplus and opennroom for smuggling arrangement whereby, petrol is subsidized for Nigerians, then the top men in govt collude to smuggle it out at a profit for every litre. The more the litres smuggled out, the better for them.
The way it is right now, they will be getting excess petrol than we can use locally. Cheaper price and the control of what comes out of Dangote refinery as petrol means they can do and undo as they please.
That gives dangote a strong bargaining chip also. He can reveal pretol output from his end if thingss go south in the future.
