If you’ve ever tried to register a business in Nigeria, you already know the drama. From the “my guy wey dey do CAC” middlemen to WhatsApp agents promising same-day registration for ₦10,000, the entire process can feel like navigating Lagos traffic on a Monday morning—frustrating, confusing, and full of surprises. Many Nigerians only discover their business names are fake when it’s already too late. It usually starts with a simple twist of fate: A young fashion entrepreneur tries to open a business bank account but the bank officer keeps typing and frowning. A tech startup founder applies for a grant, only to be told her RC number “does not exist.” A small business owner tries to bid for a contract, and procurement replies with the dreaded: “Your CAC details could not be verified.” That sinking feeling? That is the beginning of heartbreak, anger, and confusion—especially when you realize the “agent” you paid has disappeared faster than NEPA light during rainfall. But this does NOT have to be your story. Learn how to verify your CAC registration, confirm RC numbers, check certificates, and protect your business. The United Kingdom has taken a major step in digital asset regulation after King Charles III granted Royal Assent to the Property Act (Digital Assets etc.) 2025. The new legislation gives cryptocurrencies and other digital-only assets full recognition as personal property, ending years of ambiguity and setting a new standard for global crypto governance. The Act implements recommendations from the Law Commission of England and Wales, which argued that digital assets cannot be categorised under traditional property classes. Before now, assets like bitcoin, NFTs, and other tokens fell outside the established framework of “things in possession” or “things in action.” Read more here: https://innovationwatch.africa/uk-passes-landmark-law-granting-crypto-and-digital-assets-full-property-rights/

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has refuted claims circulating on social media that it has opened its recruitment portal for the 2025 intake into the Nigeria Police Force. The commission described the viral posts as fake, misleading, and an attempt by criminals to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians. In a statement published on its official website on Monday, the PSC cautioned the public against engaging with the fraudulent links, noting that the intention of the scammers is to collect sensitive personal information from desperate job seekers. “The general public is hereby informed that these publications are fake and entirely misleading. They are the handiwork of fraudsters attempting to exploit innocent citizens,” the statement read. Recruitment Portal Not Yet Open, PSC Confirms The commission stressed that it has not opened any recruitment portal, nor has the 2025 recruitment exercise commenced. It assured Nigerians that once the process officially begins, the announcement will be made exclusively through authorised channels. Detty December is a highly anticipated festive period filled with holidays, meetups, travel, and plenty of time to unwind. But with the excitement also comes a familiar challenge: you often spend far more than you planned, especially on mobile data. More time online typically means increased streaming, chatting, and browsing. If not properly managed, this can quickly drain your data plan and strain your budget. The good news? With a few smart adjustments, you can stretch your data throughout the festive season without overspending. Here are five practical ways to maximise your mobile data usage during Detty December. 1. Update Your Apps Over Wi-Fi Only One of the simplest ways to save data is to restrict app updates to Wi-Fi. Automatic updates running in the background can consume large amounts of mobile data without your knowledge. To avoid this: On iOS: Apps update over Wi-Fi by default, but ensure automatic downloads are toggled correctly in Settings > App Store. On Android: Go to the Google Play Store. If Nigeria were a movie, the northern region would currently be stuck somewhere between a political drama and an apocalyptic thriller—complete with bandits as recurring villains, security meetings as filler episodes, and governors who now rule like emergency managers overseeing a nation leaking from every corner. Forget the economy for a moment. Forget investment summits, GDP targets, and those glossy brochures promising “ease of doing business.” In the North today, governance is no longer about development. It’s about containment. Containment of insurgents. Containment of bandits. Containment of panic. And now—slowly but surely—containment of certain businesses that are beginning to look like security hazards rather than economic assets. So brace yourself. Here are the five businesses that northern state governors may soon place on the chopping block—businesses that never imagined they’d share the same fate as illegal arms dealers. Since U.S. President Donald Trump issued his stark warning of potential military intervention in Nigeria on November 1, 2025, the West African nation has witnessed a chilling uptick in terrorist violence. From school abductions in Kebbi to church raids in Kwara, attacks have intensified, prompting a provocative question: Is this a genuine escalation needing external aid, or a manufactured crisis to justify a foreign “savior” swooping in? As incidents triple in frequency over the past three weeks, Nigerians are divided between fear, skepticism, and calls for homegrown solutions. Trump’s Bombshell: “Guns-a-Blazing” Threat Over “Christian Genocide” Trump’s Truth Social post on November 1 stunned the world. Citing what he called an “existential threat” to Christians, the president threatened to halt all U.S. aid worth $1.2 billion annually and prepare Pentagon plans for “fast, vicious” strikes against “Islamic terrorists.” He designated Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern” for religious freedom violations, echoing reports from groups like Open Doors claiming Nigeria accounts for 80% of global anti-Christian violence. The rhetoric, amplified by U.S. Senator Ted Cruz and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, framed the crisis as a moral imperative. Trump vowed action if Abuja failed to act, prompting Nigerian President Bola Tinubu to push back: “Nigeria rejects religious persecution and welcomes support that respects our sovereignty.” The Timing: Attacks Triple Since November 1 Data from security trackers paints a grim picture. According to the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED), terrorism incidents in Nigeria jumped 200% from October’s 15 attacks to 45 in the first three weeks of November many in Christian-majority areas. November 17: 25 girls abducted from a Kebbi school; Vice Principal killed resisting. November 19: Eruku church raid in Kwara leaves 3 dead, pastor kidnapped. November 20: ISWAP executes an army general in Borno; JNIM imposes fuel blockades in Zamfara. November 21: Boko Haram ambushes a convoy in Yobe, killing 12 soldiers. The Sahel-wide toll hit 11,200 deaths this year, with Nigeria’s northeast and northwest bearing the brunt. Boko Haram and ISWAP control swathes of Borno, while JNIM’s southward push from Mali exploits porous borders. Banditry in the northwest, often overlapping with extremism, has displaced 2.9 million.....
