“Everyone is following the strike.”

Why the Strike?
PENGASSAN claims Dangote Refinery fired 800 Nigerians for joining the union, replacing them with foreign workers.

A resolution by General Secretary Lumumba Okugbawa on September 27 ordered a halt to crude and gas supplies to the refinery, starting Sunday.

The strike threatens shortages of petrol, diesel, kerosene, and aviation fuel. Gas-dependent power plants face shutdowns, risking blackouts. Oil marketers predict price spikes.

HealthFlogging Kids For Spiritual Cleansing Harms Mental Health by Cofficial(op): 5:14pm On Sep 21, 2025
Experts warn that flogging kids in religious centers hurts their mental health. Some believe it’s spiritual cleansing. This causes trauma, not healing.

Experts Speak Out
Dr. Yesiru Kareem, a psychiatrist, calls these acts cruel. “Spirituality should help, not harm,” he says. Flogging leaves scars and shame. It can lead to anxiety or depression.

Lasting Damage to Kids
Punishment hurts a child’s growing brain. It may cause low self-esteem or drug use. Repeated flogging can lead to serious trauma, called complex PTSD.

Wrong Beliefs
Kareem says culture shouldn’t replace medical care. Parents should visit health centers early. Schools must be safe and avoid physical punishment.

CelebritiesWhy Hilda Baci Reduced Jollof Rice To 200 Bags by Cofficial(op): 12:15pm On Sep 13, 2025
Nigerian celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has clarified why she decided to cook 200 bags of rice rather than the 250 bags originally planned for her latest record-breaking effort.

The challenge, held at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos,on Friday, September 12, 2025.

It drew huge crowds and had the atmosphere of a festival. Music, dancing, and appearances by notable figures such as Funke Akindele, Kaffy, and the First Lady of Ogun State, Bamidele Abiodun, gave the event a celebratory feel.

Technical Reason Behind the Adjustment
Baci explained that her decision was not due to shortage or logistics but rather the technical limitations of the weighing equipment.

“The measuring crane and scale could only take a maximum of 20,000kg, including the pot itself,” she said.
“My target was between 17,000kg and 18,000kg of rice, but with the pot included, it reached the limit. To stay safe, I reduced it by about 1,000kg.”

As a result, she prepared 4,000kg of rice from the 200 bags—enough to serve approximately 20,000 people.
