It has just been reported that a 28-year-old woman Rita Sarkar got her husband and brother-in-law, Bularani, arrested for conniving to allegedly sell her kidney in replacement of his dowry.

The lady revealed to the police that her husband, Biswajit, took her to a private hospital in Kolkata about two years ago where he claimed she had appendix. Instead of Sarkar’s appendix to be removed, her kidney was taken out.

It has just been reported that a mentally challenged man allegedly received healing during a students’ evangelism program in Ilaro, Ogun state. This deliverance was done on Saturday, February 3.

This young man was said to have been mentally ill for about five years before he met his deliverance on the streets of Ilaro. The information was shared on Facebook by Redeemed Christian Fellowship (RCF), Ilaro chapter.

Benin – The management of Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO) said it approved the sum of N5.7billion as a grant to empower a total of 108,367 rural farmers across 19 states of the Federation in the year 2017.

Mrs. Sabina Idowu-Osehobo, Executive Director of the organisation, who made the disclosure at the annual media forum of the institution in Benin-City, said the farmers were empowered through LAPO Agricultural and Rural Development Initiative (LARDI).

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded a hundred percent success in last Saturday’s council elections in Osun, winning all the 389 councillorship seats across the 30 Local Government and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) of the state.

According to the chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC), Segun Oladitan, 318 of the contestants were returned unopposed in an election that was obviously a one-party affair.This is not strange because such victories have been the trends across Nigeria since the commencement of the current democratic experiment in 1999 as all ruling parties, without exception, have been recording landslide wins in the contest for political control of the third tier of government.

Of course, the victories are not without clear manipulation of the system followed by cries of foul play from the opposition who, given a reversal of positions, would do the same thing they complain about.What is however strange in the Osun instance is that the election was organised and conducted in line with the parliamentary system of government wherein only councillorship positions were contested for while the elected councilors would, from among themselves, pick the chairman of the local council.

The Libyan Navy said it rescued 262 illegal immigrants off the coast of Garbouli and Zliten, on Saturday.
