AyaFash: The solution to the bridge-crossing question was stated a while back on this thread by a certain brilliant individual.

1) AUDU (1min) + AMAKA (2mins) - Amaka (holding the torch) gets to the middle of the bridge in 1min (i.e half the time it takes for her to cross the bridge's full-length) by the time Amaka is at the middle of the bridge, Audu has completed his crossing (i.e 1min).

2) AMAKA turns back at the middle of the bridge back to the beginning (1min) and hands the torch to Adesuwa/Adeyinka.

N.B: - Amaka walks to mid-bridge (1min) and then walks to the beginning (1min) - Total (2mins)

3) ADEYINKA (5mins) + ADESUWA (7mins) cross the bridge in 7mins and hand the torch to Audu.

4) AUDU crosses back in 1min with the torch

5) AUDU (1min) + AMAKA(2mins) cross to the other side of the bridge with the torch.

TOTAL:- 2mins + 7mins + 1min + 2mins = 12mins

I have looked at this from different ways. This analysis and answer serves best thus far since the Engineering design details of the bridge with respect to the length, Design structure, material of construction etc isn't specified...thus this if fine . Thumbs up Ayafash. wink

lokodon: Let's handle this thread with utmost professionalism. For unsettled scores, the settling should be carried out professionally without emotional harm to anyone nor the mood of the thread.

Now, let's talk about managing and sustaining a positive mood on the assessment day. That's being strong and staying focused even after a bad session. Suggestions on what to do guys. Let's do it.

Niceone Lokodon baba...every good and astute manager always have a contingency plan to manage unforeseen crisis, that's why we have risk assessment in every planning and preparation process to cover for lapses. Nice one once again you have shown such quality.... thinking outside the box...

Point 1#....Don't apportion blames blatantly even when its clear that someone is at fault or under performing during the excercise.

others in the house we will be glad to have your views too

Point 2#..........

I'll get back to that thread soon.

Haba....Hey guys please I suggest you grab yourselves as prospective corporate citizens and GMD's. Whatever your differences are find a way to resolve it amicably rather than trading words on this peaceful thread. Its possible you don't know each other in person and who is who on this thread therefore all this isn't necessary.....Lets have a rethink and focus on our goals for being here. Find a way to tolerate and forgive one another that shows your maturity friends. Don't make your annoyance so cheap that anyone can afford to buy it and make your happiness and peaceful coexistence with others so costly that no ones attitude no matter what should afford buying it and taking it away from you

lokodon: Strategies for Presentation

1. Put little info in form of bullet points on your slides/sheets
2. The info should be what you understand and could defend any time.
3. Expound your talk on the bullet points
4. Set question traps on your slides
5. Never say what you don't understand or can't answer questions on
6. Don't start talking when you are not in control of yourself and the stage else you would be on a long thing
7. Link your slides and let there be flow while you present
8. There should be a good introduction and conclusion on the subject. Take your audience on a nice listening ride
9. Remember to thank your audience after you conclude, it shows respect
10. When a question you can't answer comes, don't form actor or boss just let it go by a polite response of providing the answer as soon as you can. It shows integrity, responsibility and care.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: 2013 Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Graduate Trainee by Collintos: 8:18am On Aug 18, 2014
lokodon: For familiarization, I believe it wld be a lot easier if there would be a briefing day(as in SRD) where candidates would meet before the main assessment day. In this AC, I doubt if there would be such arrangement hence the the available times here wld be the waiting period before the first briefing and coffee break. I don't think lunch time would be useful because some of the activities must have taken place.
With these strategic times, the next task would be how to meet people that would probably want to do something else.
Here are some steps to making this easy:
1. Exchange pleasantries (Greetings).
2. Share your background info and ask to know theirs.
3. Get them on board by asking them for their group exercise strategy.
4. Share your views and experience on group exercises or ACs.
5. Harmonize what they think with your thoughts.
6. Talk about other things that situation may warrant.

It would be great to master the names of the other candidates by using them frequently in all conversations before the main thing. In getting acquainted, don't be bossy in your approach. Try and acknowledge early enough that everyone there is a guru.
To achieve most of these things, you have to get there early enough and stamp your presence. Sometimes, late arrival might give you little or no room to make friends.

Guys, you can add to or modify these suggestions.
Thanks

Yea Yea @ Lokodon...powerful familiarization strategy nice one...Guys I suggest let us also bring up our views on the Presentation aspect of the AC. We have got a lot of brilliant ideas shared on this platform on group exercise. So Presentation way forward..........
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: 2013 Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Graduate Trainee by Collintos: 9:10pm On Aug 17, 2014

lokodon: 20 per day. Then two groups , A1-A10 and B1-B10. That's by the 2007 thread. Getting acquainted is the most important unassessed task of the day. It wld definitely bring out the best in you. The question is, how do one get acquainted with 19 other persons before the activities of the day begin?

Yeeah..on point the numbers are good predictions leveraging from 2007 thread.....moreso pre-accessment interactions will help us know each other, our background(Discipline), Work experience and schools. Through this everyones capabilities with respect to roles to play during the group exercise will begin to surface depending on the type of CASE STUDY we are given to crack( Definitely an Engineering guy is likely to better lead a team for a building/Construction or design case study while someone with a touch of business experience and accounting will likely be good to lead a group for business solution profering or financial analysis case study). Therefore wen the real thing begins sharing of responsibilities wont be an issue. Thus active PRE-ACCESSMENT INTERACTION is a key its part of the AC experience.

AC group exercise can come in two forms....The accessors will either assign role based on the deliverables the participants are expected to deliver or they will leave the organization of the group to the team members. From my experience when role is assigned by the accessors, after some defined time, they rotate the role play amongst other team members to also see their performance in various role plays inorder to have a good judgment of every ones capabilities in the team. In this case every team member is expected to be vibrant in his or her role without ursurping another role in the process while at the same time making useful contributions. The performance matrix of that team member will be based on that role until it is changed to another.

However most times they may leave the organization to the team...they will just list out the expected responsibilities to be well defined then they leave the group to choose among themselves who should take a particular responsibility. In this case they wanna observe the teams intiuition, organizational abilities, swift decision making ability, cooperative and team work spirit. So pre-accessment interaction will make the decision making process easy that was what really helped me and my guys at my last AC experience. Take note no role will make you be at disadvantage( that is the fear of many, that is why the clamour to be the leader which most times wont play an active role but will just be organizing, mediating and approving ideas through consensus or any leadership style the group agrees on). So Just play your role very well and contribute meaningful while at the sametime recognizing other peoples position/responsibility in the team.

Moreso, Structuring the group depends on the group exercise given. If the group exercise involves building a structure maybe from some materials of construction that will be provided that day. Definitely you wont talk about having a Scribe. You will be talking about having something like

A Leader, Instructors, Builders, timekeeper and likely a negotiator.

If its a case study on maybe analysing a problem then providing a solution, Then maybe you have a Leader, Scribe, timekeeper etc. What ever the case the accessors will outline there expectation with respect to defined roles that needs be appointed by the team members. We should just be OPEN MINDED anything can just happen that day. Our intuition and Gods wisdom should help us figure out the best way the group should be structured depending on what is before us.

From my experience I have just attended only one AC which was my first and last and by Gods grace I made it with all my team members except one which was because she was so passive during the exercise, just nodding her head to what other group members brought-up whether correct or not ( The accessors highlighted that fact that day and that was how I knew.when we even resumed with other guys she was the only one missing). Though I was appointed to be the leader because they felt I had good background ideas and a good foundation that will get us forward ,I can say that what really helped us because we never heard any previous experience was that everyone was not so concerned with the title hanging on his head. We just remained faithful to our roles and maintained active contributions. Even what even moved us forward very fast was not even my idea at all...It was one of the team member that brought up something and I just acknowledged it as the leader recommended it to other guys..Sharp sharp we kept moving .To tell you the truth our deliverable was not perfect during our debrief and feedback but the accessors were looking at somethings................The ability to communicate effectively and passing intructions clearly(leaders expectation)...The ability to follow ground rules and intructions, the abilility to make contribution whether correct or not...Just bringup constructive ideas even when its not accepted....The ability to learn and ask for feedback something like maybe as the builder after finishing a task your leader instructed you to do, you say something like I am through, what next, did I get it right, is there any way I can do it better...etc.....Everything was looking like acting/drama to me........Also the ability to act with urgency and timekeeping because We were at competition with another different team that day in the same room.....also the ability for swift decision making process without much heated arguments...... organizational ability too of the leader to keep the team on track at all times. So what I can say is that Its a team thing....If everyone in a team collaborate, respect each others ideas and positions in the team, actively contribute and performs well...everyone in a team can make it. To me oooo just speculating benchmarking maybe team against team.....not your individual performance against your team except if your performance is so terrible and unacceptable like I illustrated above. So try to contribute and make your team perform the best. This is my humble take on this friends.

Best regards to all Wishing all of us all the best at the AC..GODS GRACE

freeradical: Does it mean that some successful candidates may be dropped and not called for AC if their certificate verification doesnt check-out?

Dear I advice you don't bother yourself over things you don't have control over. LNG is one company that I have seen that has a touch of caring in what they do especially in there processes. Atleast checkout the treatments so far before this point. The answer to your question is depending on what you mean by "doesn't check out" if it is doesn't checkout on the basis of a false credential and age details (as schools have cool details about its alumni infact some schools have the details sought for displayed graphically in there records and transcripts) then likely the candidate maybe dropped. But if It is doesn't checkout on the basis of your schools delay to respond with the necessary information about you.....My thoughts....I don't think one will be dropped abruptly on that premise as they may escalate it in some way to get their expected results. Perhaps there is no one in this race that could have graduated from school more than 10 years ago and most schools have records within this range intact. I don't think someone will be disqualified on an unjust ground, that is the LNG I know in some way. Moreso every school will be proud to associate and support her alumni in this regard as long as your records are straight because they will be proud you are representing a good image and brand outside for a global standard company like LNG to be asking for you.....Suspicion will only arise if there is so much and very long and unnecessary delays knowing the fact I explained earlier as every school will be happy to verify what is asked for with all integrity to push her alumni forward and fast track any verification process . So be rest assured that you will have your chances once your records are straight no matter what due to their caring culture which also don't compromise integrity. So relax bro

My regards to everyone and I continually wish all of us the best of the best at the AC.

Gbam.............on point.....No room for faking anything thing. Even when a misdeamanor is not discovered during the recruitment......Even on the Job they can sack when any falsification in certificate and other papers becomes discovered. They truly uphold integrity dearly and that is what has really sustained the company making it special and a unique brand amongst other companies in Nigeria.

At least I know they have contacted schools abroad.

I told you guys earlier this is LNG not other Nigerian companies. They won't do things just the way Nigerians think things are done normally. These guys will go extra mile to get the best out of the best. And to disqualify people for some good HR-Reasons known to and by them only.

@airsaylongcon nice one....will take a look @ them wen I am less buzy[b.......@Maforbea let not your heart be troubled and keep the HARDWORK, HOPE and FAITH strong and alive. When Grace is at work past statistics becomes irrelevant...I have seen things before....However I am sure to some extent from my speculation that atleast not less than 100 will be taken finally........and If as a team in this thread we have speculated that about 300 made it to AC at least the CHANCES are STILL there......It is understandable that many in this race are experienced to some extent...even experienced with Strong Global firms and multinationals. Definitely you don't expect that there capacity will be the same with a graduate without experience and that is no body's fault..Time and Chances happeneth to all. for example friends that are in the same set in school. But when they graduate one get a job before the other which is even the best graduating in there set . To be Fair would you stop the one that got Job first for going for a bigger opportunity that both friends( the employed one and the unemployed one) qualifies to apply for as stipulated by the recruiter? Definitely NO.....Life is full of competition infact I must say...NO COMPETITION NO CROWN.... And perhaps every Company just want the best guys in their team both in capacity and experience because they recruit you to bring something to the table in some way(If they have to train you to deliver that they will surely do) as every company have one challenge or the other. Also flash back during the SHL test that you were told to fill your related experience.....I feel they want to try as much as possible to ensure the successful entrant is based on Merit on the foundation of excellent performance in the process, relevant academic qualification, and experience if necessary in pursuant to there aspirations of the quality of the employees they will like to have as shown in their career page in their website. Nevertheless don't feel bothered so much overlook who is in the race or not. Its an equal opportunity just Give in your best and trust God for the best and surely you will have your testimony. There is a place for HARDWORK, GRACE and DESTINY. RELAX BRO. WE SHALL GET THERE AND HAVE A TESTIMONY> I AM VERY SURE OF THAT AND CERTAIN.

Fancy current job( a lot of them hired back there were kpmg, uba bank etc), man-know-man or state of origin. Now my concern is, I work I an accounting firm that is nott poular or big. Leveraging form 2007 thread...I think these numbers MAY be realistic. Analysing it this way

Someone earlier admitted that AC will run through out September ....Say Last three weeks in September. I speculate It may not be the first week.

20 participants per day for 5 days gives 100 candidates

100 candidates for 3 Weeks gives 300 candidates

LumiNG:

Finding it hard to believe these numbers.

Anyway, great attempt at demystifying ACs guys. I can almost 'not' recognise the thread anynmore

denass16:

P.S heard from an insider that only 300 would advance to the next stage out of which 200 would be selected. Wish us all luck

artmedia: Hey Bro!

Like I said earlier, Assessment centre is definitely Sept. Still confirmed from my sure source this week. And it is gonna span the whole of sept. Roughly about 300 candidates made it. Hopefully we'll give em a tough time picking and they wont have any option than to take us all.

Shalom!

Nice idea....majekdom2
majekdom2: ok , my take on the schemes. typing from my phone could be awful but I hope to pass something across.
Before , i start on the analysis , I would ask what type of product is. is it one that sells more to the youth or one that sells more to the older populace. the pros and cons of the schemes are as follows:
Scheme 1 : from medical survey , cardiac diseases are not frequent with the younger populace. the fund is not being used to set up a general clinic but just a section for the cardiac disease patient. this would not be beneficial to the whole community and wouldnt not create the awareness and publicity envisaged as not everyone might have a relative or friend who could have the disease. also there no savings from tax and which means eventually it becomes a liabilty not an asset as the company would have to take care of further expenses. however , the scheme may be useful as the cardiac disease centre may be turn out to the the best which inturn may generate income both from the community and neighbouring communities.
The second scheme : if the product sells more to the youth , this may be advisable because the band sees to youth development. however not all youths do music and therefore might not take the campaign to everydoor . at the end of the 5 years contract , there would be no savings at all because the savings would also be used to pay them off after the contract.the band would only be in the south and thus this scheme has no potential of taking awareness beyound the south . future market and sales beyond portharcourt should be encoraged
The third scheme is by far , the best : the football would increase publicity because aside the live spectators , it is shown on tv . hence , we can say we have double . we would be saving additional cost of tv advertisment because the product comes on air during matches. the footbal matches will be able to take the product household to household because the matches are shown on every tv screen. considering the economy. we have got more footballfans. as I said earlier not everyone might like the genre of music ymcmb plays. the football also would have the highest tax savings . to tackle the problem of the hooligans , I think the savings generated from this scheme can be used to provide further empowerment programs for the hooligans. with the saving , a committee can be set up to take a listen to the demands of the hooligans and further make provision . this in turn has added to the CSR of the company ,leading to a better interaction with the community and possible generating employment for them.
These are my views. stacydual , you seem to be the hiphop /rap person. first it was the future now YMCMB. can I assume you are NICKY

@Stacydual WOW>>>>>Thumbs up......Great approach and On point ideas......additionally they can specially organize special Old peoples night/Shows...something like "GOLDEN OLDIES NITE" or " Above FORTY but FIT for FUNFARE" inorder to attract Older customers thus increasing ticket sales and revenue.
stacydual:

I will tackle this exercise by carrying out research and survey to ascertain the elementary causes (Check the number of cinemas within a 30KM radius, if any, what their ticket sales look like. Also look into: the client's staff attitudes, Quality of movies shown, what type of movies the show, comparing how long it takes the company to start showing new movies as compared to its competitors and other larger Cinemas) .
I think the average age and type of visitors, opening hours and probably quality of service might have led to the decline in profit.
MY RECOMMENDATIONS
1st as a small independent Cinema the company should adopt to opening at early hours during summer or holidays for younger once who will always want to visit the Cinema more often, blockbuster movies should be on a dedicated screen, a screen should be dedicated for a lower PG rating of 13. The other two screens should be alternated according to demand and trendies.
2ndly, Sales of ticketing should come with free drinks+snacks for a day during the week and a day during the weekend, For the company to attract more customers.
Finally, staff debriefing on the current happenings and decisions to initiate "Op-Amass Customers" should be executed. While attitude and trainings of company staff should also be revisited.

Good and great analysis..you really tried following your personal assumptions though the assumptions and detailed limitations of the questions aren't provided.
lokodon:

By the information provided, there was no restriction on lifting(a person being carried). We can also conclude that the two persons moving must not have their feet on the bridge. Hence, in 11mins(and possibly 8mins) they wld all be on the other side of the river. Below are the steps:

STEP1: Audu can carry Adesuwa(holding the torch) and cross in twice his time alone ~ 2mins
STEP2: Audu returns with the torch in his time alone ~ 1mins
STEP3: Audi/Amaka carries Adeyinka(holding the torch) and cross in twice his/her time alone ~ 2/4mins
STEP4: Audi/Amaka returns with torch in his/her time alone ~ 1/2mins
STEP5: Amaka and Audi(holding torch) cross in Amaka's time ~ 2mins

TOTAL TIME: 8mins(if Audi did all the lifting) or 11mins(if capable Amaka helped)

Comments:
1. Audu and Amaka were considered able to carry others because they could cross the bridge at lesser times and that is a prove that they were stronger.
2. The doubling of Audu's and Amaka's times was to allow for the drawback on their speed due to the extra load.
3. The carried person's time alone through the bridge was not considered since he has been lifted hence their moving speed not applicable.

Guys, these are my thoughts.

NICE ONE DUDE!
majekdom2: at the cinema:
I think we can give discount on sales and movie tickets to bring in more customers and increase profits. A decline might have occured for so many reason; latest movies were not featured, customer were not attended to in necessary ways . I think to know the major causes a survey should be done.

Woow....The thread is really rolling with great ideas from all directions..Keep it up guys....My view is that this is really a management issue.I Don't think as a Graduate trainee you can influence any decision to achieve that feat...You may not be asked such questions......However I think for NLNG to migrate from its present status quo and consolidates its global position to be one of the Largest supplier of LNG in the world thus competiting fairly with its global rivals. I am of the opinion that since its NNPC stake in the project that lacks funding and support maybe due to politics cant really tell. It should rely on Its internally generated revenue because of its high profitability rating industry wide, Moreso it should get support from International Lenders as LNG has a credible Loan servicing/offsetting record due to its ability to offset most of the loans it got from international lenders for the Expansion projects between 2000 to 2007(speculating) by 2010.This makes its ability of securing loan for the train 7 project high due to good Credibility rating in the global market. Infact investors will be willing to support due to its good track record. Lastly the IOC shareholders can enter into a Carried Interest contractual agreement or a Farm-In agreement with NNPC inorder to fund and bear the cost of the Train 7 project after which they can agree a consideration they will get back from the ROI (Return on Investment) of the Train 7 project when it becomes Operational.Though this approaches I suggested is industry wide practices but what I am not sure of is will NNPC concede to this or does the NLNG act supports this arrangement in the funding of projects.....#my thoughts stil learning and growing wink wink wink...
UpdateAll:

@airsaylongcon; how will you contribute to upgrading the capacity of LNG production in the coy in-view so as to meet with Qatar and Australia's current output? (AC don start on NLand anyone who wants to assist in answering the question can jump in)

PS: Let us contribute to identifying problems and offering solutions #teamNLNG#
