Pataki: I don't know. What I do know is that:
a. At the start of the transfer season, Wenger did say, he was looking to add at least three quality signings in the transfer window;
b. We bought Xhaka, soon afterwards just before the Euros, we immediately went for Vardy. We all know the result of that.
c. After the Vardy drama, Lyon reported that Arsenal made a bid for Lacazette, even right after we had already bought one unknown Takumo.
In comparison to last year summer transfer market window, where Wenger simply just bought Cech and no outfield player was bought, despite all the noise we made, I think someone must have drummed some sense into Wenger's head.
Our transfer business might not have been prompt as we fans expected it to be, but the most important thing is that, we finally got it done. Every team will drop points, but I strongly believe in Arsenal. Our new additions have been respective captains and leaders with their previous teams. That adds a fierceness to Arsenal, which over the years we have missed. Yep. Buying Mustafi is the best news I've heard since |

True BB loads faster when browsing but this is mainly because the web pages are compressed as the ram is not enough to run high-resolution backgrounds on web pages. This also means it consumes less data. Anyway, android all tha way |

edi287: Wenger had said repeatedly he was going to sign a CF. Perez is not a panic buy. He himself said he was contacted as early as July. Gazidis also mentioned we were in for a defender before the American tour. Don't like Wenger, but it's ridiculous to say all the transfers bar Xhaka were a panic buy. This is the same guy who refused to buy a striker because he didn't feel there was anyone better than he had. Drop verifiable links where these were reportedly mentioned. |

kokaneprodigy: Panic buy in simple terms is buying something you whose nessecity wasn't assessed but bought anyway cos of fear of the unknown. Did we have these guys on our radar before the matches? YES... So it ain't a panic buy. Were we planning on signing them before the season begins? NO. The striker and defensive problems have been on for years now. Those deals could have been completed much much earlier. But we waited to test the same depleted squad only to drop points again. You think Wenger would sign if he'd taken those maximum points? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by ColtPython(m): 5:25am On Sep 02, 2016 |
edi287: Perez was not a panic buy. We had been scouting him since January. The only thing close to a panic buy was mustafi because we had initially refused to go pass 26m and chose to chance other targets(Manolas, Evans, Mussachio, Toprak) and ended up paying more than we should have. This of course was because we couldn't get the big name striker we were after so we decided to activate Perez buy out clause and spend the rest on a CB. You honestly think Wenger would sign Perez if we won the first 3 games? Only xhaka wasn't a panic buy. Also scouted since January and signed as soon as last season ended purely to replace Rosicky and Arteta |

kokaneprodigy: You can't call someone that has been on the radar for weeks a panic buy. If you say Wenger didn't get his first or second choice CF in the market I will agree, but calling Lucas a panic buy hell NO.
It's simple logic. I love Benz E350 2012 but i happen to be reluctant to splash so much on a car at this time hence I reviewed a Volkswagen Passat and Audi A60 of same year. Getting to the market I'll still price the Benz to see if I can get lucky, unable to drive down the price and time not being on my side, I settle for the Passat will you call that a panic buy? Let's reconstruct it. You have to attend an examination where you and some others will have to give presentations. A winner will be chosen while prizes will be given based on where you rank at the end of the program. Latecomers will have points deducted from their overall score. You have well over three months to conclude on what ride you will buy that will to take you to the venue. But you spent the first three months pricing cars at ridiculous rates while also believing you can save cost by trekking down. Meanwhile your competitors have already purchased their own rides by now and have already packed their baggage, preparing to set out. You decide its not worth it becuase the price tags are outrageous as you believe a car that cost £10m last season is not allowed to be increased in price. So you feel its better to trek. While trekking, your competitors zoom off beside you, spotting shiny new rides and splashing muddy water all over you as you continue your Israelite journey. You continue trekking oblivious that time has passed till you get a call that presentation has started and they have started deducting points for latecomers. You quickly run back to the market to settle for whatever your pocket can afford at the time (something that could have been decided several weeks back) You buy the passat and get to the venue only to have points deducted for lateness and discover your opponents are top of the log while you wallow at the middle of the pile simply because you felt trekking was more economical. You still think going back to get the passat has nothing to do with panic buying shey? |

kokaneprodigy: U still don't get it, if he had signed someone on the deadline just to shore up these areas then u can call it a panic buy. On the contrary he has been linked to these players earlier in the transfer window meaning he has properly analysed them and had enough time at his disposal to sanction the deals it was all over the news maybe u missed it, but Wenger was only being Wenger looking for a bargain buy as usual thinking the price will go down. The case of yawnited and Martial is what u call a panic buy though it paid off. seems our understanding of panic buying differs. This man utd case you cited is flawed because they had already signed the following players before bringing in Martial on deadline day to improve on what they already have. Morgan Schneiderlin Memphis Depay Matteo Darmian Bastian Schweinsteiger Sergio Romero |

kokaneprodigy: The only ish with Mustafi's signing is the fact that he could have been cheaper if Wenger had struck early enough, but he wanted to play smart only for his CBs to get injured and calamity Chambers couldn't turn up, Valencia smelled blood and drove up the price. Baba had no choice but to cough out 35M for a defender. So the above circumstances forced his hand and its not called panic buying... https://m.memegen.com/ckixzx.jpg |
