Please, my hp elitebook 8440p just downloaded and installed a Windows 10 patch update and some keys like shift, ctrl, delete and fn refuse to work. I tried to roll back the update but to no avail, I uninstalled the keyboard, installed a new keyboard driver but nothing changed. Somebody should please help me out of this

Is the update file size different depending on your windows 10 version? And if I choose install will the installation process wipe my files? Thanks

Forget about the "install" it'll still download before installing. Also you won't lose any files

Depending on your version of windows, Locate "folder options" (in windows 7, it's called "folder and search options" in the windows file manager and open it, click on the view tab then scroll down and un-tick "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)"

Meanwhile, while we're at it, can you help me resolve this. It's with an old 1TB Westeran Digital External Hard Drive. I was able to recover all my files in it but I'm wondering if it can be made usable

Read about HDD Regenerator. It's a paid software tho but I've gotten success stories. It can even repair physically damage drive

Thanks, this worked albeit with some modifications.

autorun.inf was not visible even after ticking the show hidden files checkbox in file explorer so I installed UltraISO, navigated via UltraISO to my External Hard Drive (Local Disk G) and deleted the autorun.inf.

There are actually two places to set it. Ticking only "show hidden files" won't show all of them.

My Western Digital External Hard Drive is showing as Local Disk instead of a Removable Drive. This began 2 days ago.

The external hard drive is assessible, working fine and the files inside are opening. It also ejects normally and is easily detected by the TV when plugged in via USB.

My only worry is its appearance as Local Disk and it's inability to be renamed as it reverts back to Local Disk immediately. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

You have autorun.inf in the hard drive. Just set your file manager to show hidden files. You'll see it then delete it

Sorry I meant to say if external keyboard works then it's either your keyboard is faulty or the keyboard connector is faulty

I've been able to perform a full scan an and my PC is now working flawlessly except the keyboard. I get the star sign anytime i press the key "C"


Some keys (colored in the pic below) are also equally not responding.

The easier way to troubleshoot would be to try external keyboard. If you don't have, check on the nearest café. If external works then you need a new keyboard if not then it's the keyboard connector on the motherboard

Did you try going back to your previous OS?
It can also be that your keyboard coincidentally spoilt during the upgrade

Games that comes out in late out 2015 and the future one that will be coming will need a higher graphic card ranging from 4gb Nvidia 970 to GTX1080. But it may still play those title but not on a high Configuration.

I asked why because you sounded like they won't play at all.

Besides there's no game company that will make games that can only play high settings on latest graphics card. Not good for market

The above laptop still remains a good buy for gamers
